Are you a little chubby? Are you always warm? This is the perfect jacket for you!! I hate sweating in a winter coat going from outside to indoor shopping. I swear this is the answer to my thick girl prayers. The coat is warm enough to hike through the woods in single digit temps and thin enough to keep you from entering sauna mode when you sashay indoors. Long length keeps everything outside your cankles warm and the color helps you stand out from the Black Sea of basic winter coats. I’m sure you can enjoy this coat being skinny too, but I can’t personally verify it.

My excitement for this jacket was crushed when I opened the bag it was in and the jacket smelt like, campfire (don’t get me wrong I love the smell of campfire just not on the $144 jacket I just purchased), body odor and there was a used tissue in one of the larger pockets. Sad. So sad.

I originally ordered a Medium from the Columbia website and it was quite large on me so I returned it. I have been searching for a raincoat in that lovely color for a while. Finding out the website ran out of Small in this item I turned to Amazon. Wonderfully on time but greatly disappointed of the condition the jacket came in. 3 Stars because it’s still a lovely jacket I just think its original owner needs it back. Definitely returning this.

Nice rain coat. Cotton material for comfort. Warm. Love length. Extra room, but does have waist ties for shape.

Sizing. Upon reading others about the need to consider a larger size, that’s what I did after I ordered a medium to start with. I’m 5’4′, 140. The medium was too small. The large is great: I can move around in it and I can sit down in the coat without it feeling tight all over. With the large I can wear two layers (a typical standard in the Pacific NW) and have room in the coat. Warmth. I just returned from a walk at 50 degrees outside. To test out the quilted lining and overall comfort, I only wore a long sleeved thick cotton shirt. I was plenty warm. And with a second layer I still have room. If your standard is a l/sleeve shirt and a fleece anything, I think you’ll be happy with its fit. The lined, zippered outside pockets are great; there’s an inside one as well. The quality you’d expect from Columbia didn’t disappoint. I wouldn’t count on the waistline cinching to take up any gap in the coat’s sizing. Overall wind protection as well. WHERE IT FALLS; LENGTH: it falls just over my kneecap – I wanted a long enough coat so when it pours, my kneecap area isn’t soaked. And I can’t wait to really make this coat work hard in our PNW rain and wind.

This is basically styled like an unbelted single button trench coat (think Columbo) with an added drawstring in the waist, a snap on hood and a lightweight quilted lining. I got the black and it looks surprisingly sleek, without the hood and a scarf added it’s a great city coat. The weight is excellent, warmer than a typical rain coat but not overwhelming in spring weather. It’s roomy enough for a down jacket, sweater or other layer under it in cold weather. I got it for walking, esp. on windy cold days when I need my legs covered. I get cold very easily and stay cold for hours afterward due to a medical issue. This coat has saved me from needing long underwear. I’m under 5’3″ and 155 lbs, a straight hefty build, not curvy or slim, I got a size Large. The sleeves are long enough to cover the tops of my hands walking and not to feel short when driving, they snap if you want a closer fit and that makes them a bit shorter. The hem covers my knees. The 2 Way zipper is excellent and makes it possible to stay snug but be comfy sitting or on a bike. I love the placket with snaps for quick closure and they work VERY well. The hood adjusts with snaps on the back (looks like a little pocket but isn’t) so if your neck is short or your head is small you won’t look lost in there. I spent this pandemic winter ordering coats priced from $35 to $750 looking for this. Some were excellent but didn’t fit me and $750 was just too high. This was my 15th try and I’m thrilled.

I was looking for a winter coat, but this is not it. Thinly lined. More like a lined rain coat than a parka. Zipper also was hard to unclasp from the bottom, a common problem I’ve had with Columbia coats in the past. The sizing was okay, but I think I would need to size up if I needed to wear layers underneath. I returned it.
