It was my mistake that I thought these were tablet canvas paper, not actual poster board. I’m new at this and did not really understand that mixed media would be a paper product. However that being said, they are very sturdy and take acrylic paint fairly well. Because of the black color the paints come out more subdued, but you can paint additional coats and this paper will hold it well. It is difficult to correct any mistakes (which I do make!), as the paper will fade with rubbing or erasing. Also I wish the black was a richer black color, this to me is a bit on the faded side. I think this is a good product as long as you understand what it is made of and know your project’s needs.

The more I paint, the more I like to experiment. I had bought some glitter colors, some metallic brush pens, some whites, some golds, some purples, and wanted to test them on black paper. Bought another brand that smelled so much I couldn’t use it. Then I saw this and decided to give it a try. The paper is amazing. It works well for layering Posca pens, and the new gel pens I’m trying out. This black is a great color, not too shiny, not too matte. And it literally doesn’t stink (looking at you Arteza ). I have since bought it in different sizes and I’m happy with all of them.

The paper is great, just didn’t work for colored ink, gel pens or any liquid media…the color does not show up. So much for “mixed media”. It works beautifully for colored pencils and pastels, though.

I like being different, so buying “black” mixed media Strathmore paper, instead of white, is a no-brainer. As expected, on black paper many of the colors appear more lively and vibrant. Black paper seems like the antidote to that scary blank “white” canvas.

This is a great product! And it blends well with blending stump, white colored pencils and black pigment liner! The sheets are super thick too! My only issue is that the pages come off easily and the sketchbook came a little damaged which is why I only gave it four stars. The book isnt sturdy enough to keep your artwork in the book, but if you plan on framing your black artwork… this book is just for you!
I’ve never drawn on black paper so this felt like a walk in the park!

I bought this to do some water coloring with some new metallic water colors and it works great! I will totally be buying more when I run out.

Honestly, I was dumb and didn’t read the description close enough, so I had no idea this paper was black. But playing with dark paper was a lot of fun, and the paper quality is great. Sooth and sturdy, doesn’t warp when painted.

Bought three of these, one was missing 2 pages. For the cost, that’s a lot. I also recently bought a few of the regular water color paper in this same brand and size/style from my local craft store, and some of those were also missing pages. Quality control for Strathmore is really lacking. But otherwise, the paper itself, assuming you get it all, is good.

This is a great heavyweight art paper that is truly mixed media-the two in-process paintings I include were being done 2 weeks ago to be used as backdrops in a local high school production which was presented online. (Needed black background to match black curtains-black made student actors more visible) -This paper is heavy and smooth enough to be used with tube acrylics, watercolors, and of course, pencil and acrylic paint markers. Loved this product.
