So I bought these and the Briann at the same time to decide which I’d prefer for an upcoming trip. I’ve uploaded a side by side of both those styles for you to compare.
These pants are made from a comfortable fabric that has water resistant properties. They are a nice slim fit all the way down the leg and have a decent amount of stretch. I did decide to keep the Brenna over the Briann just for style purposes, but I had to ask a lot of people for their opinions because it was a close call.
I took one star off because I personally prefer a higher rise and these are a solid mid-rise (as stated in the description). These are also a tiny bit lower in rise over the Briann and the seams in the knee details are noticeable while wearing them.
For sizing references: I am 5’7″ and 140 pounds. I wear a size 6 or 8 (depending on the amount of stretch) in Old Navy Rockstars and a 28 or 29 (again, depending on the amount of elastane in the fabric content) in Madewell skinnies. I purchased these in both a 6 and an 8. Both were wearable, but the 8’s were definitely more comfortable and the ones I ended up keeping.

I wasn’t sure about these pants they are a strange material, a little itchy when I first put them on. Just wear them awhile and you will love them, hiked 2 miles and rode 3 hours in the car totally comfortable. I’m 5’5″ 145lbs and ordered the 8reg and they fit perfectly, my husband even likes how my butt looks in them. I have larger thighs and a butt so finding pants that fit is hard.

First, I do love the styling and color of these. I got both the Dark Olive and Sahara Sand. The Dark Olive is a very dark, neutral green that will go with many many colors. As much as I liked the Dark Olive though, the Sahara Sand is even better. While it looks a bit green to me on Amazon, the color is actually more of a taupe/elephant gray – muted, yet with a beautiful depth. The product pictures on the Prana website are much more accurate for color than those here on Amazon.
The fabric on these is difficult to describe. It is not exactly as light as other quick dry pants, but it definitely is still lightweight. It is not smooth either, somewhat rougher than you’d expect, but I didn’t find it bother me. I heard another poster call it “softer sandpaper”, but I didn’t feel it was that bad. I don’t know if it’s quick dry, but it does feel as though it should be. It’s also somewhat stretchy (for comfort), while being fitted.
Now for the inconsistencies I mentioned in my post title. I wasn’t sure which size I was since many Amazon posters at my weight had talked about this running smaller than other Prana styles and that they were happy with size 2. Other reviews elsewhere showed inconsistency, some reviewers reporting it small and others large. I am a 00 in the Prana Halle pant. I am 5’2, 113 pounds with a slim somewhat straight figure, though I have an ample derriere and well developed calves. Waist – 26, hips – 35.5.
Because I was so unsure, I went ahead and ordered the 0 in the Sahara Sand and the 2 in Dark Olive, with the intention of sending back the one that did not fit. Well, both fit, and very similarly. The 0 in the Sahara Sand is the perfect length for my short inseam and does not feel tight anywhere. The waist fits perfectly. The 2 in the Dark Olive is a bit longer, but tighter in the calves and slightly looser in the waist (but it’s not as though they are falling off me). They felt so similar to the size 0 in the Sahara Sand that I had to check to see that I had actually ordered two different sizes. I was left wondering if this sizing issue was the reason for the contrasting reviews about sizing! I am going to keep both. The Dark Olive being looser in the waist will work for when I am feeling a little bloated.
All in all, these pants are keepers to me, both comfy (stretchy and non-confining) and stylish to boot.

I was kind of hoping I wouldn’t like these pants because I just don’t normally spend more than $50-60 on pants …. but I LOVE them!!! I got olive green size 2. I usually wear size 2 in other brands like gap and American eagle. The gap 2 usually ends up a little loose after a few hours but not american eagle so much if that helps anyone deciding sizing choices. I am 5’4″ 115lb, active runner/hiker but I wouldn’t say particularly muscular. These pants fit great in the waist (some lower cut styles make it look like I have more muffin top than I actually do but these do not), and are fitted but not too tight in the bum and legs. I almost wish the legs were a little more fitted as I can see little lines of extra material bunched up that might be a problem if you have super skinny legs with no muscle. The material is awesome and stretchy so I have high hopes it will hold its shape and not get dumpy, though I have not had a chance to test these with washing or wearing more than an hour. The inseam is perfect for me so it is maybe 31″ or so because I am usually annoyingly in between regular and short inseams. I think these are special pants worth the price so give them a try!
PS I didn’t get anything for doing this review. Quit sponsoring biased reviews people! It’s silly.

I wanted so badly to like these pants and it’s like in each area they ALMOST work and then let me down. I wanted some form fitting pants that looked cute and could be worn hiking or just around. Alas.
The rise is weird – it manages to bisect me oddly and also stretches and sags. A belt might fix it but belts don’t look good with them because, again, they fall in a weird spot. The fabric looks cool but is very rough to the touch inside and out. And the pocket situation is super annoying – no leg pockets and the hip pockets are two inches deep and utterly useless. Much like these pants.
If you like rough oddly fitting pants with no useable pockets, and decide to order some: know they run really small. I’m a size 8 in guide pro and Halle pants but in these a 10 is snug (as they’re supposed to be).
