  • Bonding Tape: heavy-duty tape eliminates drilling, grinding, welding, screwing, and refinishing associated with bonding and sealing materials. Clear acrylic construction of the tape makes it perfect for joining transparent materials
  • Acrylic Tape: permanent bonding tape with an exceptional strength can be used to replace rivets, screws, spot welds, and messy liquid adhesives. Continuous bonding feature distributes the stress over the entire surface for best results
  • Utility: 3M clear tape is ideal for heavy bonding applications such as bonding glass and door, creating street signs, etc. This adhesive tape covers rivet heads, weld marks, and glass cracks, leaving negligible trace and creating a smooth surface
  • Durability: the clear acrylic tape is resistant to UV light, moisture, solvents, and chemicals, ensuring perfect sealing and bonding even in extreme environments. It also resists high-range, hot and cold temperature cycling
  • Dimensions: 0. 040 in. thick, 6 in. wide and 3 ft. long double-sided tape roll with pressure sensitive adhesive bonds almost instantly with no drying time

I purchased this tape to adhere to glass, hoping it would hold up for a wedding, but allow me to disassemble the items afterwards. Mission accomplished. I purchased various crystal plates and candlestick holders and created 2 and 3-tier serving pedestals for our daughter’s wedding dessert bar. This tape held the levels together well, with only one that came loose, and that appears to have been from improper placement of the tape. The next morning we were able to pull the pieces apart to pack everything back up. You can’t go wrong with 3M for sure!

This is more like a gummy gel. Think of the type of glue used inside of magazines to stick cards inside, that stretches.

If you get any dust or dirt on this, it will reduce the adhesion, so make sure your surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris.

When you cut this, you’ll find it hard to peel the backing off. Instead, pull the corner, and it will stretch. That will cause the backing to come lose, and you can peel the rest off.

This needs to go on flat. If the corners will curl up due to odd shapes, trim the corners.

Press the tape onto or into the surface. If the surface is not flat, either cut out the non-contact parts, or fill in the gaps for best effect. For instance, a plastic bracket for mounting a temperature sensor needed 4 layers, and then a 5th layer over the whole plate. Not ideal, but it was fine.

For flat surfaces, make sure the edge of the tape is protected. If you pull the tape, it will stretch, and come lose, similart to Command hooks.

Best adhesion happens over time. If you stick for 1 second and let go, then it will not adhere well. Push the parts together well, and give it a couple of seconds. If it’s cold, that will affect adhesion too. The tape is soft, and needs to stick into any fine texture in the surface.

Once it is stuck, it should stay. I could reposition it a few seconds later, but a few minutes later, it was much harder to unstick.

Keep the unused portion in the bag to protect it from dust and contamination.

This is either the tape or very similar tape to the one that came with my dashcam kit. This really works, have had the tape holding dashcam for several weeks and it is still on windshield with outside temperatures greater than 100F. Last “LOCTITE” brand tape stayed on for almost two days before failing

I have used VHB tape before and it is the stickiest tape there is but this stuff did not appear to be true VHB tape. I made sure the surface was really clean and wiped it with 99% Alcohol but it peeled right off with no effort at all. Returning it.

We needed some super heavy duty clear tape that was double sided and water proof, to stick a piece of clear acrylic to our shower door. Everything else we tried failed in a glorious way, sometimes in mere minutes, others after a day or two. This has been on for weeks and shows no signs of coming loose! Shower problem solved! Hurray!

Seems to be holding so far.
I used this to install an aftermarket radio delete plate on a 1971 Chevy truck. The plate could not be installed as it was designed without modifications fo the truck and the seller (not Amazon) was uncooperative so I did my research and found this product is often used for this purpose and had a good reputation so I tried it.
I would give it 5 Stars except it is a bit tricky to use unless you have a steady hand.
Wider would likely be easier if you have enough room to use wider.
Make certain to buy a size that does not stick out the sides of the item.
It does take a day or two to reach full holding strength so you can reposition the item if you need to. Make certain it is aligned properly before pressing it down fully even so.
If the item is a bit heavy, use some of the Blue painters tape to hold the item in place for a day or so just to be certain.
The radio delete plate I installed was a bit heavier than the original I think, I used the tape trick, but honestly was operating under the premise of better safe than sorry and do not think it was necessary in my case

I bought a roll of this in 2017 and still have plenty left but I’m stocking up. 🙂

Since then, I’ve used it on a gazillion different little projects. Inside the house, outside of the house, on the car (inside and outside) and it’s been going strong, even withstanding drive through car washes.

I’ve used it on a set of glass tiles to stick to a standard painted dry wall because I wanted to be able to reuse them if I so desired.
The best part is that you can simply peel off the tape if you do “undo” your work.

Only draw back and 1 Star deduction, as many have pointed out is the backing. It’s a pain to get it off, esp. on smaller pieces.
I’ve gotten the hang of it now but at first it was frustrating. 3M should definitely change the stuff they use for backing.

I will post some photos later.

Tape works great, VHB as expected. Pack was cut into the size that I ordered. Be careful with these as the bond is very strong and one must be aware of it. One can find it very hard to remove and also potentially damaging to the surface you are trying to rip these off of. As long as one is aware of that, these will hold and hold practically in all conditions, indoor and outdoor. I like these also because they are in pieces and are clear. On a glass surface you want clear so you don’t see the adhesive as much compared to a grey or black one. Plus because of the high bonding strength, you really don’t need a lot of these, it would be a waste, just a little is enough. In some cases where one might think a whole strip across would be needed, in fact at corners and maybe in the center is all one needs.

I only wish that the cost was lower.
