I thought this was an ingenious idea and still do, however, it doesn’t fit over my drawer under my island counter top. I tried it on all of my kitchen drawers and the lip is just a little too narrow. Obviously cabinet drawer thickness varies and this lip is not adjustable. For those considering purchasing, measure the width of your drawer. It has to be LESS THAN 7/8″ to fit as it is made of heavy, durable, molded plastic that doesn’t give. Perhaps if that piece was made of a pliable plastic that gave a little, it would accommodate more kitchens. SO disappointed!

Yes, if your drawer knobs are too big, it may not work, but it will fit the vast majority of drawer knobs. There is a rather wide area for the knob to fit into. I have NOT sent it through the dishwasher, but after 2 years of use, it’s never been that nasty that I’ve felt the need to do so. The finish on the plastic makes it super easy to clean/wipe out after use. We use it less for food scraps and more for crumb scraps when we wipe down our kitchen island. And, I’ll admit we don’t clean/dump the crumbs on a daily basis. I don’t ever recall using the scraper, but it may prove useful to some cooks.

The depth of the Scrap Trap is NOT a burden. Before purchase, I was concerned that I would be bumping it to it frequently. That is no issue for us as it is relatively sleek along the cabinet line. I walk roughly the same distance from the island even when the Scrap Trap isn’t hanging (so that I wouldn’t bump into the drawer knobs).

We do tend to “hide it” when we have parties, though! =) Even if it was stainless steel, I’m not sure I would leave it out during a party.

I sometimes get suckered into kitchen gadgets that I never use, but this thing is awesome! Keeps the counter clean, you can either scoop the parts you want to put in the trash into this (strawberry stems, onion peels, etc.), or you can put the parts you want to use in here to make them easier to dump into the pan (broccoli florets, chopped peppers and onions, etc.). Makes it so much easier than trying to scrape chopped veggies off the cutting board into the pan and spilling them all over. Love this thing!

I’ve have had one of these for over seven years very durable! I like to use a plastic grocery bag to lie mine but you don’t have to. I just purchased another one today for my mother. It’s very handy to have this Attached to a drawer below the counter in front of your chopping block so your scraps can go in there directly and you don’t have to keep walking to the trashcan. I specially like it at breakfast time when I don’t want to keep walking to the trashcan to dispose of eggshells. This particular model has a wider lip so it will go on any cabinet drawer or door. Some other models were too narrow and did not fit the older wider cabinet fronts and drawers. This one also has a nice scraper to scrape your cutting board or countertop which most others do not have. Most people have said they don’t know how they lived without this. I don’t think it is dishwasher safe but it’s so easy to clean.

I’ve had one of these before but lost it in my move. I ordered another one ASAP. So helpful. It’s very convenient when your cooking eggs or chopping vegetable. You don’t have to keep running to the trash can or deal with a big trash can in the way if you pull it out to be in the kitchen.

Got my hopes up before it arrived- one of those products that can simplify an annoying daily task – it is pretty awesome but just too big.
Two criticisms: 1. Needs to be streamlined – for my needs it is too long too wide and too deep. My crumbs don’t require that big a bin, and it gets in the way. 2. The scraper/brush is GENIUS but it doesn’t attach so when you dump out the bin, it falls right into the trash – requires you to be cautious not to it doesn’t get thrown out.

Love this product! I’ve now purchased them for 2 other family members as well. If you wish to make cooking prep easier and cleaner (or for crafting-my mom uses hers in the craft room to keep the little paper she weeds from going all over the floor) this is your product! I no longer get food scraps accidentally on the floor while carrying it over to the garbage can. With puppies in the house this is even better as I always worried if a stray onion dropped to the floor while prepping dinner. No more, I just chop and scoop the debris right into this handy unit and carry it over to the garbage when I’m done. My daughter asked if it was sturdy so I took a large bottle of rubbing alcohol and put it in there (pictured) As you can see no problem with the weight. She had also tried another one that slipped off when she bumped into it. That did not happen with this one either. So I just don’t have anything negative to say about this product at all. I’ve hand washed and dishwasher washed. It’s just as good as the day I bought it. I will buy more as gifts in the future too Im sure. Love this product!

I’ve been using a quart size take out container for my compost and then transfer to a bucket under the sink. This Scrap Trap is much more attractive and easier to clean. I love that it can attach to a drawer (with enough space to accommodate the handle so it doesn’t stick out) or the top of a cabinet so you have more counter space and can place or sweep compost right into the Scrap Trap. The spatula included is great for cleaning anything left on the counter. My only suggested improvement is some way to keep the spatula in its pocket but still easy to access. It slips out and falls in the compost bucket which I’m afraid I won’t see one day and accidentally throw out. My solution is to use a rubber band across the top to keep it in the pocket until I need it.
