First the orbi base power cord is way too short. After 3 setup attempts it dies dis connecting from the internet after a a few hours. This unit is way too unreliable nor does it seem to give better quality access than my previous AirPort Extreme single unit.. I’m not feeling the mesh…not happy. Heading for support.

This is amazing, and great job from Netgear on this! It covers the entire home and has saturated the area around my home with nothing but beautiful WIFI radio waves….so much that my cup now runith over! 🙂

We purchased this router to replace an aging Apple system. Setup was uneventful until updating the firmware. It would not update through the app. No problem, I’ll use the web interface … update service not available. Ok, I’ll just do this manually. No luck. The satellites and router would not recognize the update file. Contacted Netgear and got the run around. From what I gathered the firmware on my system was old enough there wasn’t a clear upgrade path. I wouldn’t buy a Netgear toilet brush after that support experience!

So easy to set up.. I get an hour great app!! I haven’t had signal in my living room for over 10 years this saved the day and I have signal now to download apps on my new 4k TV .. my sis room is no longer a complete dead zone. We live in a cement wall apartment . Works fantastic

This system has eliminated all of my WiFi problems. Way beyond expectations. Tech support comes from India or the Philippines, sometimes a little hard to understand, but very patient and helpful. It is seamless with DSL and works with your provider modem/router. Throw away all your cheesy extenders. You won’t need them any longer.
( my first ever product review)

We have Cox cable internet and purchased this system to replace our ASUS wifi router and a signal extender as it was not ideal in our 2,500sq foot single story house with block walls. Unboxing and setup was done in about two hours (we took some extra time to replace the existing coax cable with a new one and re-route it to a better location so we could hard wire two laptops we are using to telework. Installation completed on 01/17/2021.
1. Disconnected the existing cox modem, wifi router, and extender.
2. Downloaded the Orbi app from the app store and opened it. The instructions were quite clear.
3. Placed the RBR40 and both satellites in the locations we determined to be ideal for our layout.
4. Following the instructions we connected the devices to the Cox modem and the app pretty much did all of the work.
5. You have the option to keep the default NetGear user/password, enter a new one, or use your existing user/pw.
6. Connected our other devices (Ooma, laptops, Rokus) with CAT7 flat cables.
7. Everything just simply worked. No hiccups or glitches whatsoever.
8. Signal strength is a solid four bars throughout the entire house.
9. Moving between the RBR40 and the satellites with our iphones shows no signal drops … at most I have observed a dip from four to three bars for about 1-2 seconds between rooms.
10. The app is excellent. Lots of options such as Device Manager, Security, Speed tests, Parental control, Network map, WiFi settings, Guest wifi, and Traffic meter.
11. The speed tests are showing us at slightly under 200Mbps constantly.
12. Includes one free year of NetGear Armor.

Don’t waste money on other extenders I tried three .. Google, TP Link extenders and TP mesh router system none worked as well.. just saying, easy set up and the free armor protection for a year is a plus. 2900 sq foot house and I’m getting bars all around my 1 acre property. Plus I save 10 + a month not renting their router .. btw I’m on fiber optics..

I have not been able to install the Orbi system.
I spent 5 hours on calls with Netgear and Xfinity. Xfinity was able to put my modem into bridge mode so it would connect with the Orbi. However, the Orbi wizard would not connect to Xfinity. I contacted Netgear and was sent to a level one service technician. In the middle of the call we were disconnected. I called back and got someone else who finally got me to the second ‘level one’ service technician; that call was disconnected as well. Again I called and I got in touch with a third person. We were disconnected- but at least she called me back. We were disconnected again, she called me a second time, and the third time we were disconnected she called me back and I could hear her, but she was unable to hear me. She hung up and she never called back. Each technician was on the phone with me for about 20 minutes per call- so by that time they had gotten me trouble shooted on the back end to where I thought it would connect- but it would not. So I called Netgear and got a 4th technician who told me that Netgear had trouble with phones lines that night, they finally transferred me to the ‘level one’ person- but before we could get started…. WE WERE DISCONNECTED AGAIN. So to be clear- I had 7 total calls with Netgear and couldn’t even get through the install because of THEIR TECHNICAL ISSUES. Each person, by the way, spoke with a delay in the call so they were in a different country- but all the return calls they made from disconnections were from California. By that time it was 1:30 in the morning, (I started the instal at 9pm thinking it would be a 15 minute process like Netgear brags about) so I called Xfinity back and had them enable my modem out of Bridge Mode so my kids could do their schoolwork the next morning. It was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. I will be calling back Netgear this weekend, during the day, to devote another five hours to trying to get this thing installed… But unfortunately my second Orbi system that I purchased for work to the tune of $1000 was just delivered to my house this morning… and I will be returning it if I can’t get this install done on my own tiny little system. I am copying and pasting this note because 1. Netgear’s support technology is so ridiculous that I don’t even know that they will receive this or read it (I sent this message to them directly in email) and 2. I will be posting it as a review for both Orbi products. Netgear customer support is laughable.
