I purchased a Schalge locking privacy door lever in bright chrome from Amazon for my master bedroom. The existing fixture was the non-locking version installed 12 years ago. Installation was simple since I was replacing existing Schlage hardwaredidn’t have to remove the existing door strike and slide latch. As you can see from the photograph, this new locking lever (left door) and the 12 year old dummy lever (right door) are practically identical and you may not even know they were installed 12 years apart. They hold up pretty well.

If I have to gripe about one thing, the edges of the metal collar that butt up to the door had some stamping wrinkles from manufacturing. The collar will pop off if you pry on it a little bit so I was able to rotate the collar so that I didn’t see any wrinkles – so no big deal. Still a 4.5-5 star product.

The quality and Georgian design by Schlage of these products was excellent. It did not concern me that the two fixing screws were visible. They were nicely recessed into the base plate. I was particularly looking for this specific shape and curve of lever. I was also looking for a bright brass finish. I replaced my entire house’s passage sets with these products from Schlage and consider them an upgrade. The service I received from was excellent and the delivery time was very short. I also quickly received a refund for 4 sets I returned because I erred in the number I required.

I used these products to replace ugly brass doorknobs throughout my house. I am very pleased with the Georgian design of these levers as well as the quality with which they seem to be made. I was particularly looking for a bright brass finish. They were easy to install and easy to reverse the direction of the handle when required. I am not concerned that the two fixation screws are visible. They are nicely recessed into the base plate. The service I received from was excellent. The speed of delivery was remarkable as was the return of a refund when I returned 4 of the sets because I had miscounted the number I required.

gorgeous product! I have a Victorian style dining room and a Victorian style bathroom and sadly my guest bath is literally the first things you see when you walk in my front door . But after 7 1/2 years of living in this house I finally upgrading some of my door knobs to class up the place from those tacky cheap brass ones from the 90s! I live in a pretty nice neighborhood with a very nice homes of people before me were very cheap with the details slowly replacing everything. these really add a touch of class. I grew up in an 1800s house didn’t appreciate those solid beautiful wood doors until I lived in these newer homes. and cannot afford nor do I have the time to replace every single door but these lever knobs sure classes up the place! there’s something weird about having a powder room as the first thing you see when you open the front door to your house and also next to your elegant dining room so It is amazing what a difference a door knob can make I just wish that I had the time and energy to go around and replace all of the door hinges into oil rubbed bronze! I have to tell you that I have never install the door knob I thoroughly read the directions follow the diagram the only thing was there was something for a UL door that I couldn’t figure out ( i think for certain types of predrilled holes) so I just left it out and it seems to be working fine I can still lock the door and it has one of those pins so you can unlock it if a kid locked themselves in. The previous homeowners did not leave us the right pins for their doors, so now we have them! I am getting handier I am 56 and my husband works a lot was tired of waiting for him to get around to doing this. I would say it only took me 15 minutes max and I also looked at the door knob as I was taking the old one off to see what direction the latch would go to make sure I had the latch in the proper position.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

I needed to buy more dummy handles for some new closet doors, but the brand I had was super expensive so I wanted to look elsewhere. I found these and figured at this price and a brand name (Schlage) how bad can it be – besides, the other reviews looked positive. The installation was a breeze – simply position them and install 2 screws. The finish and style look great and mimic the expensive brand quite well. I would have given 5 starts except for one issue: the handle has a slight wiggle (see attached video). It’s not the end of the world, but it just seems the design should have eliminated any such annoyance. For this reason, I give this product 4 stars for overall rating..

The oil-rubbed bronze finish is dark and classic. The Brookshire Rose rosette is elegant. We chose the Flair style scrolled handle. The Callington is also nice. It was tempting. But in the end, we chose the slightly thicker Flair style. The levers are solid and the latch is sturdy. We find that they wiggle a bit more than we expected, but this is not too bad.

Reversing the handedness is a piece of cake. Incidentally, I installed half of my 30 levers backwards until I discovered from a dummy lever what I had done (dummy levers cannot be reversed). The lever should be installed (as depicted in the photo if I had bothered to look) with the curve looping up from the center and down and the outer end. This way, the user’s down-turned palm fits smoothly at the peak of the curve to push down the lever.

It does not make a difference, of course, which way one orients the lever. It works both ways. Thinking of a right-handed lever as the face of a clock, one can pull the lever from 3 o’clock to noon or from 3 o’clock to six. Either way retracts the latch as well. As for that the latch retracts fully with slightly less than 90 degrees turn and springs back to its extended state fairly quietly, even when allowed to snap back freely (guaranteed, the kids are not going to guide the lever gently back in place). This gives it the feel of a sturdy lever.

I expected the lever to be more substantial, but for the price, I can’t complain. The design of the lever makes it foolproof to install (well, unless you install it upside down as I did). The lever is guaranteed to be perpendicular to the edge of the door with both levers aligned to each other, perpendicular to the rosettes behind them. [One has to be more careful with the dummy version to align the rosette and lever as this has no interlocking part on the other side of the door].

We use this passage lever to replace a Kwikset lever on our kitchen door. Compared to the Schlage, it was difficult to install and align, difficult to reverse handedness; it did not ever align with the strikeplate properly, and over a period of seven months had to be re-tightened several times and eventually the latch malfunctioned. In contrast, although this Schlage lever has only been in place for close to two months, it closes gently and perfectly (although installed in the exact same door and strikeplate position as the Kwikset. It is as tightly attached as the day we installed it. Only time will tell if the Aged Bronze finish stands up to the humid Florida weather.

When we bought our house as a foreclosure, there were no interior doorknobs or levers. We searched and researched for several months to find just the right lever at a decent price (try explaining to guests why there is a circular hole in the bathroom door where the privacy knob should be). We wanted a lever that would convey both elegance and sturdiness. With our Schlage levers, we not only fulfilled that expectation, but got a quality functional mechanism that was very easy to install.

Product does not match the picture. Was able to use the other lever door knobs that were delivered and was fully reimbursed for the error since the delivered item not on the website and guarantee could not be substantiated. Thank you, Amazon for reimbursement. Great job in satisfaction.

The lever handle pictured is NOT the lever handle delivered. The corresponding product number is correct on the box as well however the handle is NOT the one as shown on the website. Spoke to customer rep who re-ordered handles but replacement order was same problem. Spoke to rep again to return original order and replacement order for refund.

I fell in love with a door knob at a supply company. It was $111.00, YIKES ! I need to replace about 10. This is enough of a look alike that I am pleased. It is sturdy, shiney and works well at the same time being good looking.
Much easier to open than the round knobs if you have any hand or wrist issues or an arm full of items.
Just measure first. I have a 40 year old home. The door knob holes were smaller. The hole had to be drilled out and that took awhile.
Very pleased and would buy again.

I re-did my entire house in this collection..
    Beautiful and elegant….
So for the one sided handles… we bought 2 for our foyer closet double doors ,,as they were needed for how the doors close,,, they work with connectors on the top of the doors on the inside frame .
We bought variety of configurations for the baths snd bedtooms and closets which is the reason i chose Schlage
