It’s Mr. Mouth, the classic game from my childhood! I had been asking for this game for a couple of years now, but it was as if no one really believed how badly I wanted this thing. Well, thanks to an Amazon gift card from my sweet Mother-in-law, my dream has finally (sort of) come true. My dream of creaming my kids on a game of which I have spent many, many, lonely hours at my grandparents’ house practicing, that is. While other children learned piano, I mastered Mr Mouth, waiting for the arrival of visiting cousins so I could impress them with my crazy bug flipping skills. In my youth, I could get three bugs in on one turn, sometimes four. My quick, little hands could launch them in from, not only the front, but the sides as well. My cousins do not seem to remember this game as fondly as I do. Go figure. Now that I am older, my hands are not as quick as they used to be. These days I am lucky to beat my six year old, but the classic fun of Mr. Mouth’s twirling eyes, gaping, snapping mouth, and spinning head take me back to my Grandparents’ den, when life was simple. A time when the best thing I could do for anyone was to sit quietly* on the floor, entertaining myself. *sigh* Not much more to say other than it is exactly like the 2nd version of the game and still requires a “C” battery, so no modernization or upgrade to the less expensive “AA” batteries. *I would like to note that Mr. Mouth himself is not exactly quiet, his motor is actually kinda loud, but I find his rhythmic droning somehow soothing. I recommend that you buy Mr Mouth for all the children in your life, young or old. You will make their day.

I had the original Mr. Mouth game as a child and it was vastly superior to this one. The original pieces were round and had more heft to them, making it more likely that they would make it into the frog’s mouth. Likewise, the hands to flip the pieces in were sturdier. This newer version has very lightweight flies that are very nearly impossible to get into the frog’s mouth. Trying to play this game with my children led to frustration and tears, despite repeated attempts. Save your money and choose a better game. Sad to see a great classic from my childhood devolve into this terrible version.

I bought a new Mr. Mouth on Nov. 29, 2020. I bought the combo Pop Up Pirate and Mr. mouth. Pop Up Pirate works great and received new. Mr. Mouth arrived in what looked like a new box. Gave it to my child for Christmas today. We opened it up to find it dirty, with a white powder film on the blue arm with some nasty black gunk on it. Underneath the arms has black gunk the looks like someone tried to clean off, but were not completely successful. Two of the arms had stress cracks in the plastic and the blue arm had a large crack under the hand. The frog head is not even the same color as the body, which makes me believe someone piece mealed this thing together to re-sell it. If it was sold as used with a lower price, I’d say it was fine, but I bought it new and expected a new product. Very disappointed. I will be returning and ordering another one hoping the next one is actually new. I do love this game, even as an adult, it is fun to play with kids.

I grew up playing this game, so wanted to order it for my son. I was concerned that at 4 years old he might have difficulty using the catapult arm to get the items in the mouth, but he does great. He loves the game. It’s really easy to assemble & put away too. The game requires 1 “C” battery & has an on/off switch so you can start & stop it as you please.

I loved this game when I was little , I bought this for my kids . The toys they have these days are so complex or the exact opposite side of spectrum . I cannot stand watching my kids with their tablets and video games , it’s like they disappear almost . My kids played with this for hours ! It arrived around 2 pm and my kids played with it until 10pm . It’s the simple things that they find fun . It was entertaining for all of us , two adults , an 8 yr old and a 4 year old . Best family game night so far . I have purchased other Tomy Toys as well and my kids would rather play with these toys than the tablet or any other electronics when given the opportunity .

If anyone ever owned the Milton Bradley version you would understand my comment! When we opened the box to play the yellow hand didn’t have enough spring to even come close to putting the fly in the frogs mouth. However, I am able to send it back for full refund and free return so I cannot complain about the customer service.

was great the first half of the first day. after that it started catching on itself. eventually it would catch as the mouth opened and either the top of the head would pop off completely or the head would stop turning (clicking the entire time). great idea, seems like ok build quality. just an illusion however.

I loved this game as a kid and was hoping my kids would enjoy it too and thankfully they do. Luckily I got it for a decent price since everywhere else I looked was selling it for a minimum of $30. It works just as I remembered. It took a few tries but my six year ole got the hang of timing it right and applying just enough pressure to get the butterflies in the frog’s mouth.

Our 4, 6 and 8 year olds had quite a bit of fun with this game. Our 4 year old started using her single finger under the plastic hand and this made it easy for her to shoot her tokens into the frog’s mouth. They all had lots of fun. The battery lasts a long long time also.

Likes: *It’s a fun game *It’s a challenge *Keeps kids entertained
Dislikes: *The “arms” fall off if we move it from place to place *It’s really difficult for younger children to get it into the mouth *The mouth should open wider because you barely have half a second where it opens only about 1-2 inches and you can’t pull back the hand too much or else it just hits the top of the head and bounces off onto the floor and you’re stuck with finding the flies all over the place.
