Positives – 1. It is lightweight and maneuverable. I have two cats and it seems to really pull the cat hair out of the carpet. Each time I vacuum the dust cup is completely full of cat hair. It’s kind of gross but great that it is pulled out of the carpet. The price is right as well. 2. The filter is washable. This is cost effective as you don’t have to buy a new one every month or so.

Cons – 1. The battery only lasts about 20-25 minutes, not long enough to vacuum a whole house. It’s a major pain to stop what I am doing and recharge. The battery takes about an hour to recharge. 2. You absolutely HAVE to empty the dust cup after each time you vacuum. If you don’t, the crud will get wedged way up into the unit. Then you have to take the whole thing apart to clean out the blockage. I found this out the hard way…3. Be sure to wash the filter at least 24 hours before you plan to vacuum again or it won’t be dry enough to put the unit back together.

What a great little vac. I bought the first Linx vac in 2013. I bought the signature model in May of this year. Still have both of them. They both work fine in a typical home setting. We use this vac in a 2100 sq ft house, with mostly hardwood floors, and it gets the job done. This model seems a little quieter than 2013 model, but picks up just as well.

Run time? I have always kept a spare battery or two around so I can vacuum the whole house without stopping to wait for a charge. It does run shorter time when the brush is powered on, especially over longer carpet. The batteries aren’t cheap, but my time isn’t either.

This vac works great on cat hair, at least in our case, and he is a double coated main coon mix.

Some improvements? I added some stick on Velcro “fuzzy” portion strips to yer corners of the head, where one is most likely going to bump into corners of furniture or baseboards to prevent scuffing or knocking the paint off the baseboard. This seems to help a lot.

If I were a designer at Hoover, I would switch this vac over to a brushless DC motor to get more RPMs and perhaps longer battery run time, and fix a few things. Read on….

Mr Hoover, you do need to fix a couple of things:
    1. The plastic cup that holds the fine dust filter sponge falls out of its place in the dirt cup if you turn the dirt cup over while emptying it. It can crash to the floor, or more importantly, on your foot or toes. This does not feel good, and also scatters fine dust all over the floor you just swept. Put a trio of evenly spaced ribs on the OD of the dust cup so it fits into its place with a little interference. A fix that costs nothing but a little tooling change.

    2. For some reason, Mr. Hoover, something went wrong with this signature version of the Linx. The head of the vac won’t stay locked in the 90 degree position when the sweeper is “parked”. This means the handle can suddenly drop to the floor when you stop vacuuming for a moment and walk away from it, or when it is picked up for relocating. See the pics attached. My old 2013 model still does this correctly, so maybe I got a lemon-or some bean counter chintzed on the mechanism to cut cost. I dunno, but hurts like hell when you pick it up to move it, and the head drops on your foot.

Mr Hoover, I offer my improvement suggestions for resolution to the droopy head. What do ya say?

Purchased this after reading reviews online. Hoover has a good reputation, and I thought it was a great purchase.
Disappointed with the suction. Works well on hardwoods and thin rugs, but on a thick carpet it would not even pick up a feather.
Enjoyed the cordless convenience, and the duration of the battery was approx 15 mins.

At first I thought this vacuum was amazing. Originally I could vacuum my whole house on one battery charge. But after 2 months of use I can barely vacuum one room. The battery doesn’t even fully charge anymore! Don’t waste your money on this vacuum.

I researched and researched before deciding on this Hoover. I’m a tried and true Bissell girl but Bissell didn’t have anything along this line in this price range that didn’t suit my needs. (Don’t worry, I’m not talking behind their back, I told them so.) This little baby will stay charged for me to hit the highlights every other day or so for a week in a 2000 sq ft house that’s mostly hard wood. The canister is easy to dump and I don’t have to touch any of the gross stuff. I wanted a solution to have a quick option for hair and crumbs from two adults without having to get out a broom and dustpan or big vac every other day. The bottom was thought through, It can go alongside/under cabinets and furniture and pivots without a problem. I love being able to switch to brush or no brush quickly. I don’t even pick up the throw rugs when using it. I haven’t really timed a full charge once the battery dies but I just leave it overnight regardless. I’m satisfied. And for the price I don’t think it can be beat.

I like this device, but it’s for a very specific need. It doesn’t have a hose or modular attachments like an upright vacuum or a stick-vacuum, so you can’t really use it to get into corners or stairs or upholstery. But it has good suction, is cord-less so convenient to grab, and it has three options for the brush-roll- carpet, hard floor, and off- which is great for getting debris on hard floors with the lower-speed, or to vacuum over delicate rugs without the brushroll. It doesn’t have lights, which is a miss, and the debris tank clogged up easily from my black-lab’s hair. The removable battery with separate charger is nice if you want to charge somewhere other than where you store the vac, if your closet doesn’t have an outlet. The battery can be used for other Hoover devices. The look of the product is nice and it’s fairly lightweight even with the battery in-place. I will use it for daily quick cleaning in the kitchen and living areas, but I can’t say it will replace any of my other vacuums like I hoped, since it just doesn’t have enough versatility without a hose or attachments.

Only a few months of light use and it began to experience problems with getting clogged up and was difficult to unplug. Now 1 year after buying it, we have been unable to unplug and re-assemble so are now looking at buying another new vacuum. Will likely get a Shark…

The battery was defective, after only 5 months of small use (doesn’t charge anymore). It’s under warranty but I have to pay for shipping $$, and till then I can’t use my vacuum cleaner… Really disappointed… Bad experience with the product, disappointed with my experience with Hoover…

We have had very bad luck with this product, worked great for approximately 2 months, then the problem the battery would not charge. Then the real problems happened. Hoovers customer service is absolutely horrible! We have been trying to get to a resolution for over a month with at least 10 contact points with them! It is obvious that the battery and charger needs to be replaced according to their own problem decision tree and multiple tests, of course with a customer service rep who is obviously clueless and reading a computer screen somewhere in the world. Very frustrating as this will most likely lead to us to never buy a Hoover product again which is a pity.

I would not buy this product again

A friend of mine got it and I helped vacuum with it, that’s how I got to know about it. When I needed to replace an old vacuum and was looking for the cheapest, I stumbled across this one ant thought “why not?” I loved using my friend’s. It’s so sleek and modern looking, that I honestly just let it hang next to my bookcase. You feel no shame having this out like you would with older models, no need to hide it away in a closet or behind curtains, drapes and coats. It vacuums amazingly and glides like a dream. It comes in a box smaller than its full length and that’s because you need to assemble it. But wait! Before you get put off by that, it took me 30 seconds (or less) to put it together! The parts click into place and it only has one screw which I just twisted in with a knife.

In terms of effectiveness, it picks stuff up pretty well. I love how much of a deep clean I get using it. The dirt tank is a bit on the small side but the vaccum is a much sleeker and smaller model than most afterall. With that being said, it still seems to hold quite a bit of dirt. Biggest disclaimer here is that I live in an apartment so floor surface area that needs to be vacuumed anyway is not that much.

Con: biggest one I can think of is that because of the sleekness of the model, there is no hose. No hose = no getting into the edges of things or close enough to the baseboards to get those pesky crumbs. I just drive the vacuum a little bit more into the space and it picks up a decent amount of that residue.

Second (potential) con is needing to charge it before the first use. If you’re like me and like anything you order, you’re super excited to use, it’ll be a downer having to wait three whole hours before you get to use your new vacuum. If you’re in a rush, you could probably get up to 5 minutes of vacuum time out of it before it definitely needs to charge. Use your time wisely…

Another con is it’s lack of (or limited amount of) swivel and (relative) inability to get under tight spaces. Although so far I’ve found a way to maneuver it this way or that to get it into whatever spot I need to pick up dirt.

Overall, great vaccum. Love it, love it, love it. Would recommend it.

Lovely Amazon again has sent or allowed a store to send me a previously used item. This is infuriating and highly deceitful by both Amazon and the seller.

Aside from missing a crucial screw (which I luckily found in my collection a screw that would fit. I’ve owned a Dyson before and when factoring in the lack of engineering prowess and quality build materials, the unit is actually not bad. I purchased a second battery so that I’ll always have a charged battery on hand. The suction is good and the beater bar works as intended. So overall a good product for the money, that is if you order and receive a new unit!
