Whats better the firefly or the goliathus? Well I bought both… here is the honest review I could give.

For durability, it is ok. I can see in the future the little threads being ripped off and the lights becoming undone. Warning! When buying this product expect bubbles as it does not stay firm on the desk. Look at the picture and see.

    As for comfort,

10/10 IGN I personally do a lot of editing and games so I’m on my computer a lot! Thus I need something comfortable, this is it.

    Is it worth the price,
Definitely! Even more worth it on days like Black Friday or boxing day, when it’s cheaper. It’s a lot better than its rival the firefly.

Here is why this is worth it,

Comparing it to the firefly it is 2 times brighter, 2 times bigger, and 10
    times more comfortable.

However, the firefly is more grounded (no bubbles) and has an rgb Razer logo (that isn’t as bright as I hoped).

    Bottom line,
If you are deciding on buying this, well it’s a whole lot better than the firefly!

Even though I bought this by accident, I still decided to try it out. Here’s what you might wanna know before buying it, and some pros and cons of it.

    Pros:
From the get-go, you will notice that the mat itself is quality and is perfect if you are using any type of mouse, especially if you plan on using an optical mouse. It has a nice, thick, luxurious feel to it and it even has a little extra flair to with the added Chroma effect that is neatly stitched on the outside of the mousepad. It has (what I would consider) the perfect weight to make it feel light enough to move it when you need too, but not light enough to have it move around when you are using your mouse. The mouse pad itself even offers a cable management feature at the top left where the USB cord starts. For the brief time I had it, the chord posed no real issue and did not interfere with my mouse cord. I could see this mousepad being perfect for anyone who uses a wireless mouse since it would create a wonderful aesthetic. Pairing this with any Razer mouse will give you a feeling of fulfillment. (Wireless or not, It works well.) For $40 USD, you are getting what you pay for, and trust me, when the lights are out in your room, you will understand. However, how does it match up to the Firefly which is roughly $20 more?

    Cons:
I would give this mousepad a 5-star rating if it wasn’t for the fact that the Razer Chroma Firefly Mousepad existed. There is a difference between the two, and some argue that the Goliathus Chroma can be better. I mean, if you look, it is $20 less than the Firefly. But Razer is good at two things, one is that it delivers premium products at a slightly more expensive price point that rarely disappoints, and second, it is good at making things that are truly aesthetically pleasing and has a certain “Awe Factor” when someone sees it. The Razer Goliathus Chroma falls short on a few things when compared. One of those things I noticed immediately is that it does not work as well as the Firefly does with synapse. (Program for customizing the lighting effects to your preference) Some effects when used on the Goliathus just don’t work well with it at all, whereas the Firefly can almost copy other Razer products perfect for a unison look (Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, Hue, Etc.) And don’t get me wrong, I would be happy with either, they are both AMAZING looking, but when you compare the lights on the Firefly vs the Goliathus, the Firefly wins. One other con I could think of that doesn’t apply to me (More of a pro to me) is that it is a very large mousepad, and if you have a small desk, it might not fit well with your setup.

    Here’s my conclusion.
Look both mousepads are going to be better than any other just plain mousepad. If you are more a technical person that isn’t really interested in having that much flair, get the Goliathus. But if you are trying to make your setup look aesthetic as possible, get the firefly. But keep in mind, both are going to look great, and your not going to be disappointed.

    THIS IS IMPORTANT:
Let’s say you want the firefly, but you don’t wanna pay $60 for a mousepad. (I get it, I really do.)
I ordered my Firefly used and refurbished for exactly (wait for it) $40! That’s the same amount for the Goliathus and you’re getting the more expensive version. And I don’t know about you, but used mousepads are just pads, you don’t have to worry about them just ripping apart.
I would recommend buying a used Firefly or a new Goliathus.

I hope this review helps. 😉

I just figured the negative reviews for this product was exaggerating or whatever, but i was proven wrong when I got mine today… It looks like the Quality Assurance on this mousepad was poor over at Razer, as my guess is the outside light pipe of this mouse pad isn’t the same length as the material of the mousepad or is sewn improperly.. or whatever the issue is results in the mousepad to be rippled and unable to lay flat. Just look at the photos I provided.. it gets worse with a keyboard and mouse on it.

    Returning for an immediate refund.

There’s obviously tons of good reviews with the product, but there’s also a good number of bad ones. I received the product and laid it out on my desk super excited. Then, I noticed that it wasn’t flat on the desk. There were tons and tons of spots where it would curve upwards. When I would try to push it down, the curve would just move over. I spent about an hour trying to get it to flatten with no luck whatsoever. If you’re interested in this product, Be ready to deal with curves or even just returning it. I hope that everyone has better luck than me. This shouldn’t be a problem considering the $59.99 price tag on it.

I was extermely excited to buy this product. I am a huge Razer fan and I wanted to add some flare to my gaming experience. I haven’t experiences the dimming problems that some of the other buyers have had. I just hate that it will not lay flat as indicated by my picture. Very disappointing considering I always have so much faith in Razer.

Was so disappointed in this I ended up returning it. First off the lights around the edge (at least on mine) are very bright on the left side where the power comes in, it gradually gets dimmer as it moves to the right. On the right hand side the lights are barely even visible they are so dim. What starts off as a bright teal on the left, ends up a very dim green on the right.

Not to mention the mat doesn’t lay flat. It ends up having little ripples and waves in it from the led cord around the edges. I tried putting weights on the parts overnight and it makes no difference. It’s almost like the cord is too small for the mat so it pulls it together causing the ripples.

I decided to purchase this item when I visited R/Battlestations, the second pic is form to that post and the first one is what I got, and was looking forward to this gaming mouse pad. Looks great feels great premium quality, but the map will not lay flat and bulges to the bottom of edge and after getting some advice from the gamer that originally posted the mat he told me to lay down weights to flatten it out overnight. I did so but it still won’t lie perfectly flat. I looked into it and found multiple people saying that some mats won’t lay flat and the only thing you can do is send it back and hope the next one lays flat. If it wasn’t for that issue I would have gladly given this a 5-star review.

Without powering it up, it looks and feels fantastic. Great mouse response and clearly well built. Then you pull it in and it all falls apart. In the first pic it’s set to white and you can see half the mat is orange. In the second pic it’s a lot brighter on the left hand side. I’m now on my second mat within 4 weeks and now discussing issues with Razer directly. Great looking product, just don’t power it on.
