I’m very happy with this system. It accommodates a GAC filter at significantly less cost than other models for whole house drinking water.
The reason for the four stars rather than 5 on ease of installation is because I was not strong enough to install it properly on my own, everything required tightening by a man to stop leaks. Not a design flaw, just reality of higher pressurized plumbing lines and my small size.

I had installed this in my previous house and used it for about 15 years. They work great keeping any particulates and much of the manganese from getting into your faucet aerators, shower sprays – and body. Replace the filter when any decrease in flow is noticed – typically after 6 to 9 months. This large type is much better than those little, cheap filters made from spools of string and with this 10″ long filter model, you have the option of getting just a sediment filter or a cleansing charcoal filter. It now comes with a wrench which is quite handy when taking the housing off to change the filter.

This is a pretty nice filter housing for the money. I has no issues with the inlet and outlet threads as some complained about. I used 2-1/2″ brass nipples which have a nice clean thread and I just made sure to use pipe dope and Teflon tape. No drips whatsoever. My only issue and the reason I rated it a 4 and not a 5 was that the O ring initially did not seal properly even when the canister was really tight. Upon further investigation and saw that there was excess plastic from the molding process right on the threads where the mold seam is located. This prevented the thread from being tighten another inch of twist. A quick filing of the excess plastic and no more leak at the O ring. A nice unit for the money.

Looks good and very sturdy, I did a big project including 2 of these and some other filters but the air release valve was constantly leaking on both for a while, even under the recommended operating pressure.

After posting a low star review customer service contacted me with pictures and steps to help make it stop, it definitely helped and they are no longer leaking.

I have to say just the fact that customer service actually exists and cares about it is a tremendous step up to most other Amazon vendors nowadays.

If you’re not very good with quick soldering of copper pipe I would recommend using PVC and make sure that you seal the trip with Teflon tape properly be aware using around at thread area because the unit is made of hard plastic that can get soft and in melt if you’re a handyman and not good with soldering pipe I would recommend using a certified qualify plumber
I will watch and see what is the results after a few weeks or month of this new water filter being installed today 17th of November 2020 also make sure that you tighten this properly for the first time use if not water will spray from the seal is unit is high pressure and you must tighten it with tool that provided to avoid leaks

I bought this SimPure water filter housing to filter sediment from my well water, and so far I’m very pleased. The SimPure water filter housing was easy to mount on my basement wall. The mounting bracket seemed sturdy enough. Once I got the housing plumbed into my water line and installed a filter into the housing and screwed the filter base into the top part of the unit I was ready to turn the water on. I was very pleased when there were no leaks. So far after a months use my water pressure has stayed the same, and I’m not getting fine particles from my well in my water lines anymore.

I like this filter assembly. It’s complete and heavy duty. My only complaint is that it took 5 times to get the housing to seal. Could have been caused from bits and pieces in the pipes. I just hope I don’t have the same problem every time I replace the filter.

If you’re looking for a whole house filter, this is it ! Installation isn’t easy but it isn’t terribly difficult either. Total time for me was about 7 hours (including one extra trip to the hardware store) but could have been a lot less.

First the bad news… I had two leaks ( a fitting and the o-ring seal). However, both of these turned out to be operator error and were easily taken care of. Also, the bracket comes with screws to mount onto the filter housing, but not to mount the bracket to a wall so be aware of this.

Second the good news… I love this filter system. It wasn’t terribly difficult to install. As you can see, I included a by-pass so that I can change the filters without shutting off water to the house.
This housing unit is compatible with any filter that is 10×4.5″ so you can easily choose the filter that suites your particular application. I would recommend getting a spare filter, so that you already have one when it’s time to change.
As for changing the filter, there is no indicator (I actually like this because no batteries or electricity is required). To know when to change, check your last year’s water bill and estimate time based on water usage and filter capacity.
In short, if you need or want a whole house water filter, this is a great buy for the money ! Highly recommended !
