This candle (Midsummer Night) used to be one of the strongest scented (if not THE strongest) made by Yankee Candle. As I have written in many reviews on Amazon, and YC too, Yankee Candles have practically lost their scent. Almost 20 years ago, I saw these candles in a gift shop, and bought my first one (Ocean Water), and I was hooked. I actually became a crazy candle lady. Well over time, YCs became less and less scented (and no, it’s not my nose, I’ve ruled that out). So I stopped buying them, though I went kicking and screaming. I now buy other brands that have stronger scents, but I miss the nice burn quality of YCs.
Anyway, I bought this candle on impulse, thinking it just MIGHT still have some scent throw, since it used to be such a strong scent. I burned it for the first time yesterday evening, for the recommended four hours for the large-jar style, and only got hints of the scent. It is the same one from days of yore but is greatly reduced in strength. I’m going to burn it again later today and decide if I can smell it enough to keep it. I hope I can decide to. And it really does have that good, consistent burn–no tunneling, soot, or anything like that.
But what’s up with the loss of scent, Yankee Candle? (I called the company one time, and they just blew me off).
Update: I’m keeping this candle. I really enjoy it and its nice, consistent burn. I can smell it, but the scent is indeed greatly reduced compared to in the past. This is still probably one of the stronger scents offered by Yankee Candle, though most of them, these days, have practically any detectable fragrance.

First I wanna start by saying this is the best candle I’ve ever smelt in my life so far. I used to steal my mom’s midsummer night candle when I was younger and I’ve just recently gotten into using candles every day. It helps with my depression, anxiety, ADHD, and ocd. They’re just something simple that helps wake me up in the morning and calm my mind at night. I purchased this online because shopping with my 1 yr old gives me panic attacks when I don’t have my fiance or mom with me. I was very happy to receive my shipment next day for no charge and it came in tact. It’s a GORGEOUS yet simple addition for my collection. I was disappointed in the amount of cardboard that was used in the package. There were 3 boxes. And I can’t recycle where I live so I try to not bring non reusable boxes into the house. Still 5 stars because despite my disappointment in the amount of cardboard used, it’s still absolutely perfect. I wish I would have gone to the store instead because of that, but amazon has made my life long battle with panic attacks SO MUCH easier and less stressful. 100/10.

I loved Yankee Candles until they went into cost saving mode. I can’t smell this dang thing. I even purchased it 3 times to make sure I just didnt get a dud. Maybe the lid stored ajar or something. No sir. No smell. It turned into a half bath candle for chili night. I wouldn’t even trust it to scent a whole bathroom. If you want a close scent with much more throw, look towards Goose Creek’s Soft Linen Breeze or Kringle’s Warm Cotton. Both are better money spent. This was my favorite scent…

4 bougies commandées, arrivée dans 2 colis de 2 bougies abandonnés dans l’ascenseur. 1 bougie brisée dans chaque colis. Demande de remboursement. On me dis en 1er temps que je dois retourner à mes frais les 2 bougies brisées… Pardon ? Mais finissent par me dire “c bon, on vous en renvoi 2”. + d’1 sem se passe et rien, je les relance, ils mendient l’avoir oublié et envoyer ce jour les 2 bougie + 1 petite pour s’excuser !!?! Ok… finalement je ne reçois qu’un tout petit colis avec un seule bougie dedans mais un LB avec les 3 bougies mentionne…?! je les relance à nouveau, ils me disent “ben c bon, vous avez reçu le colis, on a le BL que vous l’avez reçu”. Encore photo a l’appui du tout petit carton “ben non dans ce petit carton j’en ai recu qu’1!!!”. On me dit “ah ben oui en fait il devait y avoir plusieurs envois en fait” :-/ Mouhai…. “on vous fait partie ce jour le reste” . Ok bon stop là je répond même pas et je demande auprès d’Amazon le remboursement ! 48h après Amazon me dit ok. Suite à cela le vendeur me renvoi en me disant “on a vous envoyer labbougiebmais fait que vous annulez la demande faite a Amazon”. Même pas je répond non plus car ça veux dire quoi? Qu’on est bien d’accord, y a 2 jours quand ils m’ont dit qu’ils faisait partir le reste des articles, rien n’avait encore était fait!!! Sans compter qu’à l’heure actuelle ul n’y a eu aucunbgeste commercial pourbtous ces désagréments !!!

Et en plus, les 2 autres bougies reçues en bon état… ben elles sentent pas grand chose… donc soit c du fake, soit des vieilles vieilles bougies ou bougies altérées! Fuyez !!!

Arrived all loose in the amazon packaging, thankfully don’t appear to be broken but box is dented and doesn’t look great when I am planning to give this as a gift. Quite disappointed.

My two favourite scents of all time along with Lemongrass and ginger, as the headline says they smell divine cocktail together like being in an up market Spa, it is such a shame that YC sold out to a multi national company that only think about the bottom line and not the loyal fan base, i only collect the retired candles now as the new ones have virtually no smell and the burn is never even, Many Thanks for these little gems, highly recommend this seller and these candles.

The product is good. However I received it with a broken lid. The parcel did not have much protection for the glass jar, not even paper tissue. Maybe you could improve that.

Classic, masculine and haunting. This is my all time favorite Yankee Candle scent. Tip: If you keep the wick trimmed, burn it for about 3-hours at a time, and snuff it with the lid instead of blowing it out, you will find that it burns more evenly.

I’m a single 25 year old male who lives alone. Normally I opt for plug-in or “set and forget” air fresheners, but the ambiance of a candle goes a long way when you have company. A friend of mine purchased this candle a few months back and I had no clue they made candles with such a masculine scent — couple that with the affordability/convenience of Amazon and I had to jump on it. Just buy it, bro. Trust me.

For decades I purchased this candle above all others, then about 7 years ago I discovered the scent had less and less, or very little throw of scent, if any scent at all..I’ve burned several large candles in a small room at once and hours later, nothing but a smoking candle. (Yes, I cut wicks to size) .I heard the original owner sold the company, so after looking it up…I’ll purchase from the owners sons shop of WONDERFUL candles, and not waste money anymore on Yankee candles. I’m very disappointed in what a Corporation buying this once great candle has done.The current owners should TALK to whoever is making your candles now, and tell them to put scent back in them, or they’ll keep declining at this rate and so will your business.People do catch on eventually if you cut costs.

I purchased this Candle after a friend a work had a very small version of this Candle, I had a great scent and would fill his office with no problem. Well that was a few years back. I received my full size Midsummer’s Night Candle and found the scent to be very weak. Both the Candles had the same weak scent, my buds tiny version from years ago blew this one away in strength. I can only guess that YC has been skimping on The Old Family Recipe. Maybe cost savings, who knows. I know that I will think twice before purchasing another one. Its a shame, shame on your YC.

Excellent product as you would expect from Yankee, and makes a lovely gift to both a male and female recipient.
The scent is almost akin to a gentleman’s aftershave, but a pleasant smelling one at that!
Longevity is as expected and advised by Yankee, with well over 100 hours experienced.
Candle jar is different to that of a traditional/regular Yankee candle, which is nice for a change.

This has been my favorite candle for many many years… Unfortunately… I would say that Yankee Candle has gone cheap… as the smell is not as strong as it used to be, nor does the smell last as long… After one use, there was little to no smell in one room. I remember being able to burn the candle in one room and the sent was perfect and nice throughout the house. Very disappointing. I like Kringle Candle much better. Yankee Candle’s quality diminished after the company was sold. Kringle Candle is the same family that started Yankee Candle and has a better ethos.
