I bought this as a replacement for my dogs carrier and I have to say I’m really disappointed in the quality of this product. The plastic is thin and if you have a stubborn dog, even a small one, I’m pretty sure it could break its way out of the front part. I originally ordered a size up but the crate didn’t come with all of its nuts to go with the screws so I decided to size down when I reordered. The replacement actually came with too many parts, so clearly there is something wrong with their packing department. It is the perfect size for transporting my two chihuahuas together in my car (5 lb and 8 lbs) but I would NOT ship a dog in this crate nor try and crate train a rambunctious puppy or dog that might chew on the sides. I’ll be avoiding this brand in the future.
Update: I was right about the poor quality. Our Doberman put his paw on top of the crate and the top split! He didn’t even put much pressure on it, which makes me extremely concerned on how well this crate would protect my dogs. I wish I could return it but it’s far too late. Buyers beware of the flimsy quality of the plastic.

Bottom Line: Assuming your dog does well in a crate, grab one of these at a discounted price from Warehouse Deals and call it even. “I like it” for the price. Objectively, it’s ok.
If you’ve bought this style of kennel before you know the basics. The Aspen Pet version checks all the boxes. By and large, this will probably get the job done, but it is a step down in terms of quality and durability (and thus, price). If you’ve got a dog that has destroyed or escaped from their kennel in the past, you may want something more sturdy. The door works, but I have to check to make sure the pins are seated in their holes more than I’ve had to in the past with similar crates.
I see two crucial difference between this model and the ones I prefer:
(1) The plastic on the top section is noticeably thinner (which in this application does equate to weaker). While putting it together, I put my hand on the top while reaching for something on the other side. It gave and flexed easily under light pressure. (2) The bigger issue: The Pet Porter has cut-out air holes instead of metal grills on the sides. Compound that with thinner plastic and you can see where it may be an issue. If your dog is relatively chill, probably a non-issue. If your dog chews out of boredom/anger/spite/fear, this might not be the best kennel for them.
For reference, the ladies in the pictures are 21-22 inches at the shoulders. They can enter, turn around, and lay down inside with plenty of room.

This crate is very sturdy and a good size for my dog (a German Shepherd mix). But I’d like it more if it had a couple of handles on it so I could move it more easily. It’s quite heavy and bulky, so it’s difficult to get in and out of my car. Also — and I don’t know if this would even be possible, so it’s just a thought — it would be nice if I could take it apart and put it back together more easily. When I put it in my SUV, it’s so big, it blocks my back window. So I’d like to be able to transport it (I don’t transport my dog in it; I use the crate when I arrive at dog competitions and workshops) in two halves. However, that would require a lot of undoing and redoing of the washers holding the halves together. It would be a nice feature for that to be an easier attachment process — maybe an option would be to have just a few insertable pins instead of all those screws?

My less than 30 lb mixed breed mutt ate through the plastic and escaped on its 2nd time in this crate. Plastic is not thick. I do not see how this could be considered safe for airlines. I bought because it was recommended by Amazon. Waste of $80. Let’s hope the dog did not ingest the plastic.I believe Amazon should refund my money for recommending this product!!!!

I went to the pet store and found that the 24 inch was too small and 28 inch was too big. If you look online, 26 is actually an unusual size with few options available. The product arrived with plastic gouged our and sharp edges everywhere. The compartments on top are also very flimsy. The plastic overall feels like cheap thin plastic. Someone commented the back latch doesn’t work. I can see how they thought that, because pushing it in causes the plastic to deform and not latch. I needed to push from the inside as someone latched it from the outside so the plastic would be rigid enough for the latch to work. I am still keeping it because as stated before, this size is hard to find, and the defects do not affect the function of the product. I also want the product now and don’t want to bother with the returns process. To the sellers credit, returns are free. For the size, the price is not bad compared to other similar items of the same size. However, Walmart had a 26 inch one of similar price also that I thought was very low quality (this one turns out to be equally low quality). If I were to do it again, I would go to Walmart so I can have the chance to pick out the best condition one.

We transported a 60 ib. buck Angora goat kid from Calgary to Toronto airport in this Pet Porter. First we ordered it from Amazon, because it was “airline approved”. Delivered to an address in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta It arrived at the exact right time for the buck kid Alberto to be picked up at the farm, and transported to Calgary airport and then flown on to Pearson Airport in Toronto. He was so comfortable and secure in it, he wouldn’t leave the Pet Porter until lured out by food and water at his new home. The Pet Porter was brilliant. Hugh

We have two of these crates. One purchased last summer for our whippet and one a few days ago for his little brother, who will be joining us in a few weeks. The first one has been great. Easy to put together, sturdy, and just well made. The second one, not so much. I don’t know if it’s because the first is marked Pet Porter 2 and the new one is just marked Pet Porter, the UPCs match but the quality is not the same. They started to skimp on quality and it shows. First, it doesn’t match the picture. The picture is a solid dark gray. The one we received has a black bottom. Annoying that it doesn’t match, but we’ll live. Putting it together was a pain. Literally. The plastic on both the crate and the plastic caps is jagged and will cut you if you’re not careful. Gloves would help. We’ll probably have to sand the edges of the vent holes to make sure the puppy doesn’t cut his nose. It really is that sharp. Also, the base on the original has square holes that fits the base of the screws so they fit snuggly. The base on this one has round holes that are a little too small for the square base of the screw. So they don’t fit nearly as well and you have to hold them to keep them from turning as you put the caps on, which immediately cross thread themselves, because those got cheap too. The crate is good if you can get the old version but this new one isn’t worth it.

The second one was perfect when it arrived. It arrived very quickly, thank you. It is absolutely fine for my cat however if you want it for a dog and it will be stationary ,then it is fine. If you want to use it for traveling then I feel it is not strong enough. I would not send any animal in it on an airplane even though it says it meets all standards. I do not feel that is rigid enough for travel. I bred dogs and shipped them and the crates I used are much sturdier and rigid.

Bought this for an international flight thinking it was a Petmate Pet Porter. This AspenPet Pet Porter does not have the rear ventilation needed for international travel. I should have looked at the listing a little closer. (Photo shows 36” Petmate kennel, 32” AspenPet, 28” Petmate)
