I really wish the tip of these highlighters we’re not like a giant crayon… It makes it hard to be very precise when you’re highlighting… But these seem to be a little bit longer lasting since there is no marker liquid that could actually dry out.

I still use traditional highlighters when I’m highlighting in various types of paper where if it bleeds I won’t care… But if I’m highlighting in a book that I know I’m going to keep I will use these gel highlighters so they don’t bleed through the paper.

Good gel highlighters, depending on their purpose. I mainly use them for marking in my Bible. They don’t bleed through the thin pages. The orange and blue are not vibrant like I expect highlighters to be, but the other colors are nice. I don’t think I’d buy this brand again though…

    Four problems I’ve noticed:
    1) The blue one doesn’t apply easily like the others do. It looks more like rough crayon writing. It also shows up only lightly in color. So, I can’t really use the blue one.
    2) The caps don’t stay on the ends while in use. They pop off, so you have to set it aside while highlighting. I find this annoying and would rather keep the cap on the end of the pen while in use.
    3) They flake apart, producing “gel crumbs” on pages and on the sides of the pen tip.
    4) The tips are blunt and undefined. Marking a straight line is next to impossible. I often have to go over an area multiple times to get full coverage. It looks messy.

My coworkers steal them. I love them. Don’t bleed through, and always highlight! Some of the marker colors (green and purple are my favorite) are too dark but these are VERY bright! The blue one in my current pack isn’t very smooth but I think it’s a fluke. The rest glide.

There are better highlighters out there. These crumble in crayons, not great as these crumbly bits get smudged etc.

Of all the gel-type highlighters, these are my least favorite. The caps are hard to get off (every time, not just the first time you use them), they can be a bit crumbly, and the colors just aren’t as bright as some other brands. The tips are bigger than others, if that’s what you need, but I far prefer Thornton’s, US Office Supply, and GLT’s.

They’re great for not getting highlighter all over your hands like to conventional types, however the nibs are very wide and I find i have to ‘twist’ the highlighter a lot when highlighting text. Also, they’re only good for about 1 or 2 chapters of a textbook before they run out. Due to their price, it can be very expensive to keep replacing them and buying new ones. If they were slightly slimmer and not so expensive, I would definitely give a 5* rating.

These highlighters are SUPER FUN!!! However, not very functional in an office setting. Once something is highlighted, you can’t use a white-out tape runner over it. The tape runner won’t stick. There is also a greasy residue that’s left. Pages can stick to each other. ALSO…when scanning, the greasy residue started coloring up the scanner eye and we had to continuously clean it. We stopped using them, but we’d already used them on quite a few documents before we realized it’s mess with the scanner.
SIGH…all fun is gone now…back to boring old sharpie click highlighters.

I wish these were available in stores in Ireland, these work like a charm. I don’t get highlighter all over my hands anymore, delighted!

These things are so vibrant when you use them to highlight. I used to love them so, so much but recently started using them a lot and noticed a few cons.

First, the cap doesn’t stay on the end. So, you have to use the highlighter with the cap next to you on the desk or you can stick it on the end and hope it sticks, but it won’t. It’s really annoying that you can’t just stick the cap on it and have it stay there while you use the highlighter.

Second, when the highlighter gets to the point where it has about 20% left, the inside mechanism that holds the highlighter together just falls out. So you can’t use the last 20-25% of the highlighter. I mean, I guess you can if you want to hold it by the skinny plastic screwdriver thing that the gel is stuck on.

If they could just fix these two issues, I would give them a glowing review and they would be pretty flawless.

These highlighters are aggravating. For a little bit of a vague background, I am in a field where there is constant writing and highlighting documents. I go through 5-10 highlighters a year. These are easily the worst highlighters I’ve ever bought. Why?
    1. Aim: figuring out where the highlighter will mark and how thick it will mark is very important. But, with these, because of their crayon-like consistency and application, precise marking is impossible. So, now, instead of marking a single word, I have to mark a whole sentence.
    2. Consistency: It is nice to know how thick a highlight will go on and when. But, again because of their crayon-like consistency, the brightness of the highlighter varies tremendously. It can either be too dark, or too light, but rarely in between. Plus, when held flat, you get these weird white spots not unlike you get with a crayon.
    3. Comfort: With a normal highlighter, you tend to figure out the best way to hold it so you can highlight comfortably and consistently. With these, there is no comfortable way to hold them consistently. Especially because (again because of the consistency) they change shape. You have to keep flipping it around.
    4. Smudging/bleed through: No highlighter is perfect on this front, you either end up smudging the letters or on the next page or getting bleed through or both; nonetheless, some highlighters are better with this. But, with this, because of the consistency, they smudge on the page next to it when you close the document because it leaves behind little clumps of the material. But, on the bright side, no bleed through?

Genuine recommendation: Go with the Stabilo Boss highlighters or even the normal sharpie highlighter (if you wanna stick with this brand). Do anything but buy these.

These were not what I was expecting, but they do the job. My reason for 4 stars is I am unsure of the shape of these tips. They seem to wear down as you use them, but right out of the box they are too bulky to highlight correctly. I am not sure that I like that these looks like a crayon when highlighting either, but if you go over where you highlight several times, it becomes more solid looking.

And another thing I noticed is when you touch the highlighted paper (I am left handed so my hand automatically goes through it) there is almost a sticky feel, although nothing seems to rub off on my hand.

Overall, they get the job done.
