This game exceeded my expectations. I never played a bad or mediocre Yakuza. Though they changed it from a beat-em-up to an RPG, it’s almost better. They did well building the class system and combat mechanics. It’s still the same goofy/serious game we all love. Also dont listen to the one guy saying this is trash. The mechanics may have changed but you’ll rarely notice it. Every aspect of the yakuza franchise stays in tact. And if you haven’t played an rpg by now, dont call yourself a gamer. Go back to CoD and Fortnite. This game is phenomenal.

Package came in great condition gameplay is fun but the cutscenes are extremely long I literally fall asleep watching them. But besides that the game is fun.

So, playing this on the PS5.

What a wonderful, fun, engaging, uniquely creative game!

I’m playing this listening to the original Japanese audio with English subtitles.

I didn’t know what to expect when I first bought this game. And honestly, it started out REALLY slow, but one thing about this game, you have to realize.. is just RUN THROUGH THE FIRST 5 chapters as quickly as you can, until you unlock the “Hero app”.. don’t worry about side quest, or whatever, anymore than you need to at the start… get to the Hero app point & the game world REALLY Opens for you.

Its really nice to have a game, with a cool, creative, adult story like this.. And thats one thing about this game, it really covers a lot of “dark themes” or adult topics.. stuff that gets ignore by general society.. I loved every moment of it as well!

I’m really grateful this game got on my radar, & I end up buying it… its such a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of western games I’ve played. I really have loved every minute. Well okay, the “can race” mini game or whatever… annoyed me to no end at first. Then I realized I just had to be far more aggressive & problem solved.

If your expecting a yakuza fighting game like everyother in the series… Then youre going to be disappointed.. its a pokemon type turn style fighter and its poorly done.. biggest disappointment of 2020 by far

I must say I am very impressed with this game. I’ve always wanted an RPG set in a “real world” setting. No magic no fairies just a good old RPG set in modern times. 🙂

I’m not new to the Yakuza series as I’ve played or watched others play almost all of the games within the series. That being said, this is by far one of my most favorite installments in the series. It has the perfect balance of humor, drama, combat, sidequests, minigames, and all of the other wonderful things that make one hell of a great Yakuza game. The story is extremely engaging, so much so that I felt like the game was actually a little too short because I wanted more. The characters are fantastic and really well-developed.

I know there were some concerns from Western gamers about the new combat system, but please, give it a chance. Yes, it’s wildly different for a Yakuza game, but it’s extremely well-done. The new combat system actually allowed the developers to give combat more depth and detail. It’s very reminiscent of a traditional turn-based JRPG, as there are summons, tagging characters in/out, and different character jobs/roles, however; it’s full of outrageous humor and fun, which brings it back to feeling like a traditional Yakuza game.

I’m beyond excited for the next installment in this series, and while I’ll miss Kazuma as the main character, I think Ichiban is a fantastic new character who has so much potential for more games.

I really didn’t know if I would ever love a Yakuza game, but I think Like a Dragon might be the one for me.

The story isn’t unfamiliar for series fans, but the new protagonist is a breath of fresh air. Ichiban is dork through and through, in stark contrast to the stoicism of Kiryu, but they both aspire to do the right thing. The change in the battle system perfectly matches the tone, and plays well to keep the outlandish fighting just as you remember.

The English VO cast is really solid and they line up the lip flaps well; honestly, give it a shot. It is a nice change to have good English VO in the Yakuza series, including George Takei!

The story is also worth the investment; there are a lot of unknowns and while the game takes a while to get going (maybe more than any other entry) it is satisfying throughout.

I’ve never been happier with the series and I can’t wait to see what they have next!

RPG of the year! This game is awesome, never played a yakuza game before this. The story surprised me, it’s so deep. I’m only in the third chapter, but I’m having a blast. Pick this up if you’re an RPG fan! You won’t regret it

    Never doubt RGG, like never.

I was skeptic and didn’t have high expectations for this game but bam! the RPG system took me by a storm and its pretty fun to play with added usual wackiness from the dev team! Also, the world is HUGE and the business minigame blows 0’s out of the water. spent 30 hrs on this game and i just got to chapter 10. this will definitely the yakuza game where i put the most hours on.

    so. damn. fun.

I’m sorry RGG I’ll never doubt you again for moving away for the old system.
