These are great quality glasses, this is my third pair over the last 7 years. There is a design flaw that seems to be worse with this pair, so I’m sending them back. The lenses are angled so that the top of the lens projects away from the eyebrow area and the bottom of the lens rides my cheek just below my eyes. Not a big deal, except that it allows major sunshine to come over the top of the lens, right into my eyes. They are great in the morning and late afternoon when the sun is lower. The only fix is to push them against my face hard, but then my eyelashes touch the lens, annoying.

Serengeti makes the nicest, clearest lenses of ANYONE! Even Maui Jim pales in comparison! Not sure why they aren’t far more popular. Perhaps it’s a marketing thing. I just don’t know. I do know this: I have a pair of $350 MJ’s with glass lenses and they ARE nice BUT I just did a side by side comparison of them and these Serengeti drivers and the Serengeti’s are every bit as clear as the MJ’s. Seriously, I put the MJ’s on, then the Serengeti’s then repeated the process several times in different light situations and the polycarbonate (plastic) lenses of the Serengeti’s are as clear or clearer than the heavier, glass MJ’s. I have never seen such clear polycarbonate lenses in my life and I’ve tried them all. Serengeti sure did something right! Even the MJ polycarbonate lenses don’t hold a candle to the Serengeti lenses. I did the same test with the MJ pc lenses vs the Serengeti pc lenses and the Serengeti’s win by landslide. Half the price and better shades. The biggest no brainier in the history of Sunglasses, just find the right fit for your face and you’ll be happy, guaranteed!

Bought these sunglasses 10 months ago and won’t ever buy them again. The coating is very defective. It has fissures all over the lenses. When you put them on everything becomes blurry it’s so bad. These have always been carefully cared for, cleaned with the special cloth and kept in their case. The fault is not in the way they have been cared for. I’m not telling you what to buy, just don’t buy these. I’ve attached a photo. In the lower left of the lens you can really see the cracking well. Both lenses are completely covered with these cracks.

Fantastic sunglasses, very lightweight great for driving

word of warning, they are medium/small – too small for largish men – hence my wife snaffled them immediately and is delighted with my purchase

Extremely pleased with this purchase, Serengeti has thought of everything, the lens is what I was after to protect my eyes from the elements, this is the real reason to pay the better price. I bought the black, it says shiny but its no different then the Maui Jim sport black, in fact the lens is the same size and design as the MJ’s sport frameless. There was no skimping on the zip case shell and dust cloth as quality remains consistent with the brand. Great buy!

HERE IS THE SKINNY! I neither work for Serengeti nor give a hoot about them. I just see too many crazy reviews placing most stock in the frames and how they look. Good sunglasses SHOULD be defined mostly by the quality of their lenses. Polycarbonate (plastic) frames are a dime a dozen! Literally! Sure, we want the shades to look good and fit our head correctly, agreed, but the R&D and development costs weigh heavily on the lenses and not the frames SOOOO…. shouldn’t reviews focus on the important part of the shades?? THE LENSES? If cool frames and “hip, funky style” is your thing, go With Oakley (chokely) or go to one of those sunglasses carts at the mall or the swap meet, BUT if you want top shelf, crystal clear, quality lenses, put on a pair of Serengetis and walk outside and see the difference! Not only do Serengetis have all of the anti-glare, polarized and needed protection features, they have an unmatched clarity about them! Period! Test them against ANY others, you’ll see! These smaller framed Nuvola’s are just as clear as my $300 glass lensed Maui Jims and that is a fact! These are the 60mm lenses and fit my face perfectly, I have a thin face and most glasses stick waaaay to far out for me. These are perfect SO, if you are somewhat of a “pinhead” like me, you’ll appreciate the fit of these. They also have a similar pair that are wider and thinner by a noticeable amount over these. The wider version lenses is 65mm (these are 60) and they are taller as well so if size and fit are important, check the dimensions. Check the details for the measurements in mm to get the right fit for you. By the way, the frames are terrific looking and are SUPER COMFORTABLE! The frames are a bonus for me but the lenses are the reason I’m wearing these glasses!

These glasses work well. Lightweight and the polarization is nice. I can’t say I’ve noticed a lot of the photochromic effect working. I wear a size 7 hat. After awhile the ear pieces seem a little too snug. I wish there was a way to loosen them a bit. And, as I’ve seen in other reviews, they have some type of almost sticky residue on the face side of them so when you go to try and wipe them you have to work at it. The cloth doesn’t easily slide across them to wipe dust off. I haven’t had that on other glasses from other brands. This is my first pair of Serengetis

Serengeti makes the best sunglasses for optical performance – that’s why they’re popular with pilots. Most of their line has glass lenses, but these are what they’ve branded as PhD lenses, a form of plastic with similarly good optical qualities. I’m not comfortable with putting glass in front of my eyes, so these were the best option. Plus, they’re super light.

My previous pair of these (which broke because I sat on them) were about a year old and showed no scratches. (I’m careful, but my other glasses with plastic lenses have always gotten scratched, so I’d say they’re fairly resistant.)

Good looking, very lightweight (which is important for comfort on the nose), seems robust so far.
    I’m happy with the choice.
Only small downsize is the case, since it’s so bulky and big…

For the first few months of having them, I was delighted. They’re very light and the optics is excellent.
    Why the low score then?
As others mentioned before, these wonderful sunglasses have a design flaw, causing the coating to ripple around the connecting points and deteriorate with time.
This will happen to anyone, no matter how much they care for their sunglasses. Mine are in mint condition, not a scratch on them, except for the falling coating, of course.
If you don’t mind buying sunglasses that will last only a few months of use for around 100$, you’ll love them. If you’re like me and would like to use the sunglasses for more than one summer, don’t get near them.
