I gave this product as a gift to a 13 year old boy. The initial reactions from him were that of excitement. Upon attempting to construct the structure the wow factor began to fade. The wooden parts were very sturdy but the installation groves were not very distinct as well as dificult to put together. The recipient enjoys building complex models, so much so that he has a whole shelf dedicated to his completed projects. Upon returning to visit him I discovered that he had attempted to do it but was not successful as a result it never made it to his shelf instead it made it to the trash.

Bought this for our two boys who love coasters. Price was great to take a gamble. Both boys (8 and 13) needed some adult supervision just to make sure all was assembled correctly. It works well when assembled – need to use a slow crank motion for the marbles. They are already picking out their next larger sets.

My daughter and I had a great time building this, however within five minutes of it being finished the handle that turns the gears broke. Upon inspection I don’t think it was from carelessness of use, it seems like a poor design that is easily broken.

My 10 year old granddaughter and I assembled this (um, she showed me how) and while it did sort of work, human intervention was required for the balls to successfully traverse the track.
The main problem we had was getting the track to be parallel for the entire length.
The balsawood is very forgiving however, which is a good thing because we did make a mistake and had to reassemble some portion of it.
I think a larger version of this, with a thicker gauge track might work better.

We put it together correctly, but it only makes it over the hill about 40% of the time. Would still buy it again. I wish I hadn’t glued it until the end as I might have made an adjustment to create more of a downhill coming out of the chute – creating more velocity to get over the hill.

After seeing the full size Dragon Coaster in action at a relative’s house, I picked up this mini kit as a COVID activity for my son and I to do. It probably took about an hour for us to put it together. Upon completion, it didn’t work right. I assumed the kit was defective, but after reading reviews of people solving their problems by making sure all the pieces were put together properly, we identified a few spots where connections were a little off, and after fixing them, the coaster ran perfectly.
This little kit is really pretty impressive. It’s designed really well, and despite the flimsy wood, it’s actually pretty sturdy once assembled. Putting it together was a fun experience. I find we don’t “play” with it very often except to sometimes show it to folks who haven’t seen it before. Regardless, I consider it a great value for the non-digital time it gave me and my son for around $10.
Having read some reviews that the Dragon and Skate Park mini coasters could be connected, we went on to buy the Skate Park mini coaster, only to find that only the full size coasters can be connected.

I am 11 and got this for Christmas and it was really amazing! The instructions were easy to read and had helpful tips. One part did not fit which was my fault but I could fix it with ease.

From the one star reviews, I realized that it was important to take my time and carefully extract the parts from the full sheet. It took me about an hour to cut the small remaining tabs from the laser cut parts and carefully remove the parts, then sand the small “bumps” to a smooth edge. After doing that, I put the coaster together “dry” and was very impressed with how well everything went together. I then disassembled the coaster and glued it back together per the instructions. My 3 year old granddaughter played this with me for several hours this last weekend. She learned how to turn the crank while holding the base down, and enjoyed watching the ball bearings drop down the coaster to be picked up again by the large gear. I am planning on purchasing the larger, more intricate coasters in the future.
