The material is thinner than in the images – which are CGI rather than photographs – and thus a teeny bit see-through. And when they say Slim Fit, they’re not kidding – I’m a stick, and this was tight around the lower torso!
But it looks good – and if possible get the 33 sleeve, or the relevant middle option; the arms fit perfectly.

got this for a relative with short arms. really good that amazon offer such flexibility in sizing – this is what the internet is for! wasn’t sure what to expect but the shirt itself seems very good quality and decent value therefore.

This slim fit is indeed slim. It is more of a slim fit than the Geoffrey Beene Slim Fit or Calvin Klein Slim Fit. (Model is size 14.5 32/33 with a 26″ waist and 38 1/2″ shoulders). The spread collar is flattering and looks great with ties. This shirt is not yet washed, so we’ll see how or if it shrinks and how bad it might wrinkle. The material is on the thinner, silkier side, but not overly thin. Also, I got this shirt on sale, so I don’t know how much I’d be willing to pay for these shirts without the greatly reduced price. However, I have been generally very impressed with the material quality, workmanship, design, and cut of Amazon clothing I have ordered thus far, in both men’s and women’s styles.

I’ve bought many dress shirts on Amazon but this is my first of the Buttoned Down brand. I must be honest about how totally outraged I am….at myself for not trying this excellent brand of great fitting, superbly designed and manufactured line of shirts years ago.
Maybe I was a little skeptical about the huge number of online vendors allegedly running the classic “bait and switch” game on unsuspecting victims.
After taking into consideration how Amazon has countermeasures in place to eliminate the perpetrators before anyone gets their feelings hurt, I felt confident about moving forward with business as usual.
As a result, I’m now the proud owner of the finest shirt I’ve ever purchased online ! The Buttoned Down brand of slim fit dress shirts, or more specifically the one I purchased, easily meets the high quality descriptions as stated.
The moment I took it out of the package I could feel the weight of its quality materials. The stitching is well detailed without loose threads to trim off. The shirt is assembled with an eye on symmetrical details.
The length is adequate to comfortably keep it tucked in. After all it is called a “dress shirt” and being tucked in is totally appropriate for being dressed with a touch of style. Styles have clearly changed and letting the shirt tail flap in the breeze would go with the slob look quite nicely if so desired.
An old school touch I appreciate is the optional left chest pocket. It’s the logical place to keep a pen handy.

The Good:

The Bad:
This “slim fit” is still far too wide in the waist, not for an athletic build. As a reference,I’m 6′ tall and 185lb, I got a shirt with a 16″ neck and 33″ sleeves (should have gone for 34″ sleeves). The neck, shoulders, and chest fit great, the waist could have been 2 – 4 inches slimmer to be a good fit.

If you have long arms and are physically fit, you probably know like I do that finding shirts is a hassle. Whether it’s dress shirts or t-shirts, you’re stuck with everything being too short or being forced into a size larger shirt to get more length.
These shirts are as good or better than most expensive dress shirts. 34-35 is the longest arm length available half the time shopping at the mall department stores and even men’s wearhouse is relegated to that length or if your lucky a 36-37 but then they’ll only have traditional cut or odd colors.
I’m buying my dress shirts here as long as they’re sold. So easy, exact sizes, high quality, dang near half the price.

I have been trying out a number of Amazon’s private label items recently, and was seriously impressed with this shirt. I have a broad build – wide shoulders and neck, but a relatively slim waist making it difficult for me to find dress shirts that fit my neck and shoulders but do not billow at the waist. For years I would buy shirts, and have them taken in at the middle. This is expensive annoying. This is one of the only shirts I have found that I can buy off the rack that fit me really well with no alterations needed. I will say, if you are a guy who carries a little extra in the middle, these may not be the right shirts for you.
Beyond the fit, the quality of these shirts is easily equal to those that cost 2x+. The fabric has a very nice weight and structure, is very soft, launders well and is truly wrinkle free. I throw this in my gym bag in the morning, shake it out when I get the the gym and never have any wrinkles. Plan to buy many more.

Generally i have not found issue with the “Buttoned Down” brand of dress shirts on Amazon. Though, this particular & specific shirt was straight-up garbage. It looked a little “light” from the beginning, when it arrived, but i was like “no biggy, it’s not like i paid much for it.” Though, following one wash (didn’t even get to wear it once) it looks all 1983 stone-washed out. Like i’ve had it for years and need to retire it or something. A brand new shirt, not worn once. So, as a skeptic, i know i’d be thinking “this guy, probably doesn’t know to do his damn laundry.” Correction.. I’ve not had issues with either any of the other shirts in that laundry load, or any of the prior Buttoned Down shirts i’ve purchased (and washed), over an extensive period of time. So like i said, straight up garbage on this joint. I don’t even know why i have to give it one star… I SHOULD be allowed to give it one of five points of one star. Deuces!

Good quality materials but this is not slim fit. I’m 6′ and 174lbs and the shirt is very baggy. Ordered 15 neck and 33″ sleeves. If you want a really slim fit shirt, this is not the one.
UPDATE:
I washed the shirt in hot water and put it in the dryer at high heat. Results: the shirt significantly shrunk and the fit now is much better. I’d say the sleeves shrunk around one inch, and the back another inch approximately.

Absolute bargain. Great quality, to be fare I bought it for a funeral and dont wear formal shirts often so won’t be able to comment on frequent wear / washing. Multiple sleeve lengths and half sizes, all for a tenner!
