What everyone says about this chair is true. I needed an extra high chair for my drafting table for working from home. This was a fair price, it was easy to assemble. It does not have a reclining chair back and I have only started to experiment with the seat tilt. But it is more than adequate. The stool I was using was rescued on its way to the dumpster at the office so this is a major upgrade for me.
As others have said the foot rest around the bottom is hard to get to stay in place but as one reviewer said, get it where you want it and turn the screw with all your strength. My husband says if it doesn’t stay put he will get something from the hardware store.

Best advice, BUY THE WHEELS!!! They make the chair a 5 star chair. The wheels that come with it are the plastic ones that everyone hates. These also give it just a tiny bit more height. This one-“Office chair wheels replacement rubber chair casters for hardwood floors and carpet, set of 5, heavy duty office chair ball casters for chairs to replace office chair mats – Universal fit”. Work like a dream and look cool too. Must have.

Delivered a day earlier than expected. Super easy to put together, just he’s a Phillips head screwdriver. Total assembly time: 25 min. I think some might find the seat too shallow but since I’m short (5’2″) the seat depth suits me just fine. So far I love the backrest & lumbar support. I love the foot rest, esp since the desk is a little too tall for me. Great motion from the wheels, no scratches on the hard wood floor so far. Will add an update in a few days.

Like many of us, I’m working from home A LOT now. When I began to experience shoulder pain, I knew I had to replace my too-low office chair with a taller chair and a footrest. Based on the number of positive reviews, I chose this chair.

I like the chair. It was easy to assemble. Its sturdy. It supports me. (I’m 250#) It suits my needs. The breathable mesh back keeps me cool and is comfortable. However, the seat cushion is hard as a rock. So I wound up purchasing the Everlasting Comfort Seat Cushion for Office Chair from this site to address that. I also wound up replacing the gas cylinder with a two inch shorter version from this site. This made the chair more ergonomically suited to my 31″ computer work surface, especially after the addition of the seat cushion.

Even with the shorter cylinder, the chair is suitable for kitchen counter height use.

The Safco Vue Mesh Extended-Height Chair overall is a fine product. The cylinder, base, and overall construction are fine. The height is as advertised and (for me at 6’1″) the max height is probably higher than needed for most applications. The chair is solid and does not tip.
Unfortunately, the seat is ridiculously hard and uncomfortable. It’s a thin layer of foam. The hard edges of the seat pan cut into your legs. There is a ’tilt’ adjustment for rocking back, but it barely tilts, and does not tilt ergonomically forward for long hours of typing. There is a ‘hump’ at the center front of the seat that makes it even more uncomfortable for male users. Higher quality chairs will advertise a ‘waterfall’ curve at the front to address these issues. Safco did not even try with this design. It might be okay if you are seated all the way back and carrying on a conversation, but not for any sort of typing or writing at a desk.
I actually removed the back so I could on the seat ‘reversed’ such that the tilt is downwards when facing the desk. This was a small improvement, but the edges cutting into the bottom of your thighs cannot be ignored. The only way to sit in this chair for any extended period of time for typing or leaning towards a desk is with an additional cushion, which is silly, because cushions move around and alter the natural height adjustment of the chair.
This could have been an excellent economical ergonomic fit for tall persons or users with raised or adjustable desk heights, if Safco had invested in a couple more inches of high quality foam for the seat.

I’ve had this chair since 2011 and use it every day in my workshop that is now my 2020 full time home office. For the price it’s hard to beat. My only complaint is the warranty. The pneumatic strut began having issues this year, so I contacted the company to make a warranty claim, which is 10 years for seating controls. The email back said “I’m sorry but your chair is no longer under warranty,” which is pretty strange given that it has a lifetime warranty with certain items (like seating controls) having shorter warranty periods. I emailed the warranty from the Amazon website and asked if it was not the correct warranty. I received no response. Again, I’ve gotten almost 9 years out of it, but what’s the point of having a written warranty if you won’t stand behind it.

I bought this chair so that I could switch between standing and sitting while at work. For the most part, this is a great chair. Mesh back is great. I don’t get super warm in the chair. The seat doesn’t look super padded, but it’s very comfortable. I can easily sit 3-4 hours in it without any issues. It’s sturdy. I really like it.

But there are 2 things that bother me about the chair.
    1) I lock the chair upright since I don’t like it moving back on me. Which is great, except that every once in a while, the lever will come out causing the chair to tilt back. When it does this, I’m not in danger of it flipping backwards or anything, but it does scare the crap out of me and I’m 95% sure I’m going to die every time it happens. So every time before I sit in it, I make sure the lever is firmly locked in.

    2) The footrest moves. All the time. It doesn’t matter how tight I make it, after a couple of days, it has inevitably slipped to the bottom of the pole, and I have to raise it back up. Not a big deal, but it does get a little annoying.

Other than those 2 things, I’m very satisfied with the chair
