I bought several bases for different areas of my home via Amazon, but couldn’t find the extension light strips available anywhere. I was able to buy only 5 via Walmart and – they’re a different version and has a completely different connector! I was able to figure out that there are different versions only after extensive search on forums online, not, in my opinion, evident upon purchase.

I now have 3 bases with no availability to purchase extension light strip, and 5 extensions I can not connect to any base light strips.

As others have mentioned, the pins on this extension will NOT connect to the main Light strip that you’re trying to extend. They are shorter and spaced closer together, so the pins on this cannot fit into the female end of the main Light Strip. The connecter included with it is no help, as it uses the same holes spaced closer together. Frustrating that the comparability across Hue strips varies. Now have to go find the correct set.

I am not sure what has happened here. I ordered this light strip as a Bluetooth controlled device. It works as advertised but I am unable to extend because of incompatible extensions. I tried to add a 40” strip and as I have shown in my pictures, they do not match at all. Did I get an old product? I ordered the original kit from amazon and the extension from Home Depot. They appear to be both Philips products but the amazon product does not have 3M tape on the back. Be careful when ordering. I will post a follow up on my resolution.

Update: apparently after I did some investigation, I found that it is likely that Amazon provided a version 3 product, and Home Depot sells the version 4 extension, philips does not sell an adapter. So I am unable to extend this product. The light strip itself is good but I cannot use it as intended.

You would think you could connect the two strips without cutting but you can’t.
Instructions are terrible, no words, just drawings, no website with how to video.
Anyway I tried to put two pieces together, I think I did it right but the additional strip won’t light no matter what I do, so this ones going back.

I am upset enough to return the product. For some reason, this updated version of the light strips moves the connectors slightly closer together. The result is none of the previous light strip extenders can be connected to this new light strip.

I have a Phillips hue strip and i bought some extenders to get the perfect look. I had 1 extender leftover and decided to get another her base and just use the old extender. apparently the 2020 version of the light is slightly different and not compatible with old light strips. No where does it say this. If this was clearly stated I would have just purchased the older base from somewhere else.

My Wife and I have Philips Hue lights across our entire home, indoor and outdoor, the Light Strip Plus is probably one of our favorites due to the ability to place the strip generally anywhere.

The brightness is more than enough, and the Hue app in our opinion is seamless. Very simple to use, and also quite reliable as we’ve never had an error within the app.

10/10, highly recommend if you’re looking to take your home to the next level!

Wow, Phillips should make it EXTREMELY OBVIOUS when you are buying these that they will not work with some versions of the base kit. They make no mention that if you have previous light strips, these new ones will likely NOT WORK. The plugs are not the same size at all, and the only way one discovers this is by ordering, opening and trying to connect them.

They should (and frankly, could) make even a minor effort to let consumers know, but they don’t. So please pay attention to the plug type or you’ll have to return or be forced to buy a second base.

Philips rolls out a completely NEW and INCOMPATIBLE light strip. Do they call it the same thing? Yep, it is still a Philips Hue Light Strip Plus. Seriously, check out every word on these boxes. Do they put identical pictures of the connectors on boxes of different types of strips? Yep, look for yourself. Is there a magic connector to make these two types work together? Nope, I made one myself and they are incompatible. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF PRODUCT PACKAGING?? This is just wrong!
