My four kids (boys and girls ages 3-11) love this movie. The songs are catchy, and it was nice to see a disney movie that highlighted strength of character, importance of family, and didn’t have a romantic interest.

This one of the best Disney movies we’ve seen in awhile. Our elementary aged daughter LOVES it, and honestly, I like it quite a bit too. Re-watchability is pretty high with this one. I love that the main character is a strong female lead and that Disney finally managed to make a story with a female lead that doesn’t involve her being helpless without a man’s help, nor motivated by some misguided or unnecessary infatuation for a male character. Frozen was a good start down that path, but still fell into some of the old traps of historical Disney storylines; Moana escaped entirely. Sure she still needs help from the male Maui character, but only because she was battling supernatural beings and he himself had a level of supernatural abilities beyond mere mortals. The story was very engaging and sweet, and Moana’s journey of self-discovery was well told and acted. The songs and music were top notch, my favorites of course being “Shiny” by Jemaine Clement (of “Flight of the Concords” fame) and Dwayne Johnson’s “You’re Welcome”. Both were awesome. Honestly, though, all the songs were really awesome and my daughter loves singing any and all of them, even the ones in other languages where she doesn’t know what she’s saying. I can’t say enough good things about this movie.

I highly recommend purchasing this combo pack. For the $20, you get a DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital access through Disney’s Disney Movies Anywhere program. If you make an account there and connect your Amazon account, you can watch this through Prime Video just as if you’d bought the digital only version through Prime Video, which last I checked, was also $20. It’s also impossible to download digital movies purchased through Amazon to a PC- only to mobile devices.
If you want more freedom to watch your movie anywhere, get this pack. I’m not gonna bother reviewing the movie other than to say it’s great. Great music, beautiful animation, and a fun and inspiring story.

Good quality. We bought it for the Czech language option. Funny that it’s called Vaiana in Europa instead of Moana.

Ever since I was a kid, Disney has never failed to amaze with their films. The animation is always brilliant. The stories are always moving. And, if it’s a musical, the songs are always ingenious. And now, they have created their best Disney Princess film ever: “Moana”! This film follows Disney’s very first Polynesian princess (technically, not a princess though. Although, apparently, “if you wear a dress and you have an animal sidekick, you’re a princess. ), voiced beautifully by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho, who teams up with the larger-than-life demigod Maui, voiced by the larger-than-life Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, to resolve the mysterious rift between man and nature and revive the ancient art of wayfinding. Along the way, she also seeks the one thing she has sought out her whole life: her identity. Like how Maui could go on and on explaining every natural phenomenon, I could go on and on explaining how this film is nothing less than PERFECT. The story is incredibly moving and thought-provoking. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina, and Opetaia Foa’i team up to bring us a soundtrack that deserves at least 10 Oscars. The cast is not only brilliantly assembled; most of them come from Polynesian roots (Auli’i Cravalho is a native Hawaiian, Dwayne Johnson’s ancestors are Samoan, Temuera Morrison hails from New Zealand); in fact, the only cast member who is not Polynesian is Alan Tudyk, but only because he voices Hei Hei the rooster. The animation and character design is some of the finest I have ever seen in a Disney computer-animated film… Honestly, if I went any more into detail about how this film is my absolute favorite of 2016, we’d be here all day. So, in short, Disney’s 56th animated movie is an instant classic and will no doubt go down in history. This film is a must-see for all Disney fans, young and old. It’s yet another brilliantly gleaming gem in the Disney Animation canon!
