Teacher Rhea –
I bought this for my 14 MTH old son. He is really liking it and gas almost mastered buckling and unbuckling on his own. It’s such a great toy for fine motor skills.

My baby loves buckles. The strap on his changing pad, his high chair, his seatbelt… even the buckle door locks I got for locking him out of of closets. He loves buckles so much, I had to setup one of those low enough just for him to play with!
Which is why I’m so disappointed in this toy. The buckles are waaaay small, and much harder to work than a regular-sized buckle. These isn’t much excess slack, either, so it makes it doubly hard for his little hands to work.
The toy is cute, soft, and cuddly. The idea is a winner; I don’t know why they cut corners on the most important bit. 🙁

Provided many hours of entertainment for my 18 month old on a road trip. She still occasionally plays with it now that she’s past age 2, but it was a lifesaver on that one road trip. Unlike toys with many pieces that can get lost, this is one piece and not difficult for my toddler to use in many different ways, either by herself or with one of us showing her the different colors, numbers and shapes embroidered on the whale.

I got this for my 18 month old for a long car trip. Although he enjoyed playing with it, some of the buckles were a bit difficult for him and the whale ended up getting thrown a few times in frustration. That being said, his two year old cousin loved this and didn’t find it too difficult (though he would get the straps twisted or woven around each other thus making it impossible to buckle which greatly annoyed him). Even the four year old cousin got in on the fun trying to figure out what can fit in its mouth (a fidget cube was the ultimate favorite though a small ninja turtle came close). The quality is fantastic. It’s very soft, the colors are bright, and the stitching is durable enough to stand up to a four year old and two year old having a tug-of-war. The numbers, colors, and shapes were lost on the older kids; but my son enjoyed them. He’s just starting to learn shapes and colors so it was fun for him to interact with me and point to the red heart with I asked for the blue diamond (cut the kid some slack, he’s learning). All in all a pretty solid toy. The buckles and zipper may be a bit of an over-reach for 18 months, but the colors, size and squeeze-ability, and shapes all put it in the “church / road trip” bag

I bought this whale for my 17 month old daughter as she is highly fascinated by all buckles right now and as I had hoped she was absolutely delighted with it. They toy seemed very cute and the buckles were perfect for her developmental stage but to not great disappointment the quality of the toy was really lacking especially for the price. Within one day of play one of the buckles has already fallen off. My daughter is very gentle when she plays with this so I can’t even imagine why it’s falling apart already. I expected more from a 25 dollar plush. In addition to this I will add that the whale has a significantly shorter body than it appears to have in the pictures. Upon opening the package I thought this would make it difficult for a child to handle but it didn’t seem to deter my eager toddler but I thought I would say it because the pictures on this item are a little deceiving.

Great to to entertain my 1 year old on a long haul flight. He couldn’t undo and do up the buckles yet but it entertained him for awhile and he enjoyed taking things we had hidden out of the whale’s mouth. W

I bought the whale for my 3 year old daughter and the airplane for my 2 year old son (or much fighting would ensue). They love them! They are able to close the buckles which helps with fine motor skills, and eventually won’t need mom or dad to open them all up again. My developmentally delayed child showed unusually great focus with this and will play with it for 20 minutes at a time.

I was given the caterpillar a few years ago for my child when she was about 18 months. She loved it then, and her brother/cousins loved it since. We’ve come to call it the snappy caterpillar. My 4 year old son still plays with it! Ever since then, I buy this as gifts for children between 1 and 2 years old. It’s always a hit. The whale was purchased for my 20 month old niece and she has not put it down since I gave it to her. I highly recommend any of these buckle toys for young children!

This is worth every penny! We fly frequently with my 1.5 year old and she usually spends the whole flight wanting to switch between parents or say “hi” to everyone (even if they’re trying to sleep)! This whale seemed pricey, but after our recent flights I have to say it is well worth the money and we will be saving this for long car rides and airplane rides to keep the novelty alive and keep our sanity. She would sit and buckle and unbuckle for 5-10 minutes at a time, take a break for a book , and then come right back to this toy. It’s a great way to practice colors, learn that some different colored buckles work together, and practice those motor skills. Would definitely recommend!

Great product and fast delivery.Got it for my sons nautical themed room. Waiting to give it to him as part of his birthday gifts but I’m sure he’ll love it.

At first I thought the price was steep, but after having my child use it, it is easily worth every penny.
My child would buckle everything in sight (as all children her age go though). This toy allowed her to buckle to her hearts content without driving the rest of us crazy.
Enough buckles to keep them busy instead of having to unbuckle one thing 600 times and every minute. This allows them to buckle for a while, then hand to you to unbuckle and start over.
Easy to travel with, keeps them quiet and busy on airplanes or in church. Easily one of the best toy purchases ever.
