So I’m a disgusting slob. I have a big house and I’ve given up on life. I’ve accepted my life’s decisions and given up on dreams of being in a decent home, or having any hope in life, really.

I got Oscar (what I named the robotvacuum) and didn’t really have high hopes but I don’t eat regularly, maybe every 3 days, so I have a little spending money. My son brought home 3 dogs bc- why tf not.

I was just tired of having crap (dirt, not actual crap.. I’m not that far gone but there’s still time, I guess) constantly caked on my feet when I come out of my hidey hole I’ve made out of boxes and old furniture in our rec room. I also got a bean bag chair that turns into a queen sized dog bed and that’s where me and the dogs spend our lives.

I didn’t have high hopes for Oscar in my house. I had expected this to be more like an expensive entertainment/experiment, watching this thing get maybe one room before it died. I watched it for a couple of hours and had to empty Oscar every 30 minutes.

He’s been here for 24 hours now and he’s still kicking. I carry him to the areas of the house that need to be cleaned and drop him off.

I’ve had to empty him pretty often but it’s getting less and less. He encourages me to at least make pathways for him so I can watch him do his thing. Last night, I couldn’t find him. I had figured he’d run away after a couple of hours of being here, which, who would blame him. Certainly not me. I guess someone found him and returned him to his dock.

At first, it didn’t dawn on me but then I realized, as I was getting out of the shower tonight, my feet weren’t crusted with “dirt breading” from wet feet on a dirty floor. That was pretty nice and pleasantly unexpected.

Tonight I brought him into my goth den where me and the dogs hang out. I made a wall out of a trundle made of wood on its side. It’s a cubby where I put stuff I use throughout the day. Meds, vitamins, supplements, water bottle and other inane stuff people who have given up all hope in life might need in a makeshift hidey hole inside a hoarders house.

Oscar totally dusted my trundle shelf, then moved the items and dusted under them then organized them. It’s a bit of a reach but he was all “Hey, girl, I gotchu!” Then rolled up on the shelf. My dogs were a little concerned about him but we watched Oscar just do his thing.

He gets 5 stars for surviving in this hellhole for 24+ hours and Oscar really do be doing the most with the dusting and organization of my shelf and it gives me and the dogs something to watch. I was kind of impressed with the fact he launched himself over a hurdle like he was off-roading, which somehow seems fitting for this place. I feel like Oscar gets me and doesn’t judge, not that I care. Judge all you want. When ppl run out of enough 💩to give, I guess nothing much matters anymore.

If you’re on a tight budget and you have all your hopes pinned on Oscar’s peers, I can’t speak to how long he’ll survive and under what conditions. But today I didn’t have to scrape a layer of grime off my feet with an expired debit card under running water, so I’ll take what I can get. This will be a day I remember for the next week or so.

I’ve always wanted one of these little vacuum robots, and when it was Amazon’s deal of the day at $160, I couldn’t resist but buy it.

Long story short, I live with 6 other young adult guys in a former convent. The main floor is 3,000 feet and the upstairs is 3,000 feet.

This lil’ shark was not designed for a square footage of this magnitude, but I decided to let him take his best crack at it anyways. First things first…remove ALL MOUSE STICKY TRAPS from your convent and/or home. They catch sharks much more easily than mice. So that was embarrassing. Once all mouse sticky traps were removed, I scheduled the lil’ shark to vacuum every night at 1:00 am on the main floor. And vacuum he did. He would occasionally get stuck on wires or other things, but honestly, having observed him for 30 plus minutes, pathetic as he looks sometimes, he can get himself out of many a bind.

Something to note is that this guy is random (or at least that’s the effect). He just bounces around like an idiot. It’s amazing he finds his way home at all. However, he’s a cheaper model so I don’t mind. With the 3,000 square foot main floor, after a week of running every night and bouncing between walls like an air hockey puck, the place started to really look nice. Like, the floors were completely clean and would stay clean. He wouldn’t get everything every night, but he didn’t have too. He’d get everything eventually throughout the course of a week. The one exception would be the kitchen, but with 7 guys using it multiple times a day, I wouldn’t expect lil’ sharky to get that every time.

Another added bonus is all the dust he picks up. That’s useful for the air quality in my 70 year old convent.

His battery life is pretty great, he’ll run over two hours every night (partially because he gets lost finding the dock in the massive 3,000 square foot main floor).

To conclude, for the price, a great lil’ helper for your home and/or convent. I wouldn’t pay over $275 for him, but very pleased with my purchase. The entertainment value is pretty great as well, watching him pathetically and blindly move about. Great for parties and maintaining conversations with introverts.

    Overall: 4.5 Stars

Buyer beware! When I received the shark robot it wasn’t in its traditional packaging. It was more like in a brown box refurbished packaging. But mind you the label says brand new. Piece of crap is already broken. I only use it once a week. I cannot get it to charge at all. And this one does not come with the option of taking the power supply out and plugging it in directly to the side of the vacuum. That being said buyer beware do not buy this product. Funny how it died eight days after the expiration return date.

Fumbles around appearing none of the sensors work. Bumps into everything and every wall. I would recommend a different brand. I’m giving it a couple more chances before returning but I’ll probably go back to my Eufy. It was cheaper and worked better.

** update. Support from shark said the unit was working as intended so I will be returning. Scuff marks because it bumps into everything.

    Hola soy de México

I opened the box today and it’s giving me an error code. It’s asking to have the cliff sensors cleaned…but it’s brand new! Cleaned them anyway with no success. I’ll change the rating if it gets fixed.
UPDATE: Shark has determined the unit is defective. They request I pay shipping $25!! I told them I would simply return it to Amazon for free. She asked a supervisor for a waiver so the new unit will be shipped free. I’m disappointed in Shark. We should not have to pay for shipping on a defective unit that’s under warranty!!
