My toddler got this for her birthday. She loves it! She is so excited to swim ‘by herself’ in the pool (with mom right beside her) it gives her great movement so she can kick and use her arms without hesitation and propel herself forward. While sometimes it puts it onto her back I do feel confident that if she were to fall in while wearing it, it would keep her afloat. The colour is bright and fits my small two year old perfectly with plenty of room to grow!

This product claims to be a Stearns Puddle Jumper. It did not come with any of certification or tag. It is a completely fake knockoff. It is not made of safe materials and like other reviews have claimed, would not be suitable for a child to use in water. Absolutely unacceptable. Be warned. The only positive thing about this whole thing is the seller refunded the money, but I would have gladly taken the $20 hit for my child’s safety.

If I had the option, I wouldn’t leave any stars. My son is 2 years old and weighs between 30-35 pounds. He sank like a rock with this thing on. It didn’t keep him above the water at all!!!! It says that it’s made for 30-50lbs. Absolutely unacceptable!!!!

Great product! My son really loves to wear his floaty and has been swimming in the pool very well with this. Also worked well at the beach, but I recommend putting a rash guard shirt in the child to protect from sand getting in between the floatie and skin

My 2 year old daughter LOVES this and is so confidant in the water when wearing it. My son had one years ago, and I remember not liking them. I’m not sure what has changed since, but it’s great. She can float on her back with them, or swim with her belly down, but her head will not go under water. She does go on a slide into the pool sometimes, which causes her to dunk under, but she pops right back up and loves it!

This product arrived on time however it is not really a Stearns product as advertised. There is no branding on the product and when I compared it to a Stearns puddle jumper that I actually have, the difference in quality is noticeable. The description ‘Stearns Puddle Jumper Basic Life Jacket’ and image is misleading and I don’t trust the quality of the product. I would not purchase from here again.

This is a knock-off product. I immediately recognized the lower quality and smaller size when I pulled it out of the bag. We’ve bought a real Puddle Jumper by Stearns in the past, so I quickly grabbed it to compare. The product they sent me is much smaller in size, flimsy, lacks the tags and Stearns label, and has completely different safety instructions on the back. It has a horrible, acid smell as well and was shipped from China (which took almost a month to get here). I wouldn’t trust my kid in it even if it fit, and he’s barely 30 lbs. Beware! I’m sending this back.

My 2 year old loves kicking around and having some independence in this. And he kicks his little legs so hard he burns off a lot of energy, which I appreciate. He has a LOT more fun with this on than he does without it and just with me holding him.
However, as a former lifeguard, I have mixed feelings about this. I do think that floaties give both parents and children a false sense of security in the water, so if you’re going to use them, do not take your eyes off your child for a second. Not one. And make sure your child doesn’t have access to a pool because they may not realize that they can’t float and kick around like that without their floaties and just jump in thinking they can play without them. I’m sure everyone knows this, but I don’t think it caution can be expressed enough when it comes to toddlers and pools.

Too good to be true. I recently borrowed two different puddle jumpers while playing with my 22 month old daughter at 2 different pools. Both puddle jumpers were this exact color/style. I had already placed my order for this blue starfish one from amazon for about $9, but it had not arrived yet so I was happy to borrow ones from my friends. Both puddle jumpers that I borrowed were difficult, in a good way, to get on. My 26lb daughters arms fit snugly through the arm holes (note: she is technically under the weight recommendation, so you would think her arms might be a little baggy if anything). We enjoyed our pool time together with this puddle jumper and I was eagerly awaiting the one I had bought from amazon. A few weeks later, a somewhat shady package arrived from China. I opened it up and it immediately felt different. It was floppier and thinner than either of the ones I had borrowed. The material felt completely different. Now, if someone can tell me that the foam is like those small incredible sponges that turn into dinosaurs when wet, and that my puddle jumper will miraculously turn into a fully-stuffed floatation device on it’s first use, then I might try using it in the bathtub. However, I cannot risk using this. I am currently trying to return the product. It feels like it has about half the foam that the ones we borrowed had. Less foam means less floatation, and I am not willing to risk this when it comes to my daughters safety. Sure, this one is cheaper than buying from Target, but I have already bought the same thing only from Target and will gladly pay a few more dollars for the real deal.
For fun, I decided to try on the puddle jumper from Amazon/China. I am about 145lbs, so waaay over the weight limit. Yes, the puddle jumper is tight, but it fits me (including the clasp in the back). More notably, my arms fit inside the arm holes meant for a 30-50lb child, I have “baby arms” and lift weights, so my arms aren’t exactly just skin and bone. I am far too worried that if my arms fit through the hole, then my tiny precious child could slip her arms out of this. Three is no way this is an authentic stearns puddle jumper and there is no way I will put my child in this near any water. Save yourself the trouble (and your child’s safety) and look elsewhere to buy your puddle jumper.

He’s 10 months-old today, weighing about 8.5 kg/ 19 lbs and has decided that he is too big for a baby floatie ring. He loves the independence of the Puddle-Jumper and independently changes from feet forward to feet under to feet back, all with head out of the water. He deliberately dips his mouth in though to taste the water! I’ve used these before for kids 15 months to 8 years, but 8 months was a first. He cries in protest if we put him in the baby ring! The Puddle Jumper gives freedom!! Big brother is the sizeof a 6-7 year-old and still wears the same Puddle-Jumper on a looser setting.
