OTTERBOX DEFENDER SERIES SCREENLESS EDITION Case for iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 Pro – BERRY POTION (RASPBERRY WINE/BOYSENBERRY)

I have used Otter Box Defender cases for years! iPhone 7 & 8 which had their own Screen Protection built in. Fair for a $60.00 Case! Now they no longer come with screen protection. You must buy it in addition to the $60.00 case! Otter Box’s Alpha or Performance Glass tops out at approx.. $50.00 for just one screen. So I did my research on an alternative glass. ESR was my choice, 3-pk for approx. $10! I bought TWO PACKS! Just in case I erred on installing. All as it was, I/we also bought three new iPhone 12’s for my wife, daughter and myself, three in all. The ESR Screen with the installation Guide went on perfectly! All was well until I placed my phone into my New Otter Box Defender and watched in disbelief as my screen was bubbling/lifting. Thinking it was “ME” in error, I began to remove it to try another install. The phone slipped out of the DEFENDER shell as I separated it, flew into the air, catching it between the kitchen counter and my hand, the ESR screen was now chipped and cracked. So… into the second pack of screens… again installed as directed perfectly. Back into the DEFENDER… still bubbling! I gave it two days hoping it would settle… pressing the bubbles out repeatedly… NOPE! So I called Otter Box. “Otter Box will is not responsible for “THIRD PARTY SCREEN PROTECTORS” “Only their Alpha Glass or Performance Glass is Guaranteed to fit with the DEFENDER case!” a notice/caution/disclaimer you will find nowhere before making a purchase! So… Defender & Screen Protection from Otter Box = OVER Approx. $110.0!!! I like the ESR Screens! I will return the Otter Box DFENDER and buy alternative case, as did my wife and daughter, that does not conflict with the ESR or any of the other of the multiple “THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS” on Amazon or elsewhere. Otter Box… PORELY PLAYED!!!!
Update! After these days of trying to press the bubbles out of the screen in my Defender, the NEW iPhone 12 started acting “Wonky” on Shut Down/Restart “Flashing/Blinking Apple Icon. Thankfully I was still in my 14 Day Buyers Remorse Window with AT&T and got the phone exchanged. My NEW iPhone 12 is now in a SPECK Prosidio2 Grip Case ($26.99 @ Best Buy) less on Amazon, with ESR Glass (3pk under $10 on Amazon)! Beautiful! Beats heck out of the $110+ TRAP at Otterbox!

I was expecting this case to be very bulky and big but it is pretty slim and offers great protection I love it! It is better than I expected 🙂

Will not wirelessly charge in case, verified with several charges.

I’ve had otterboxes ever since I’ve had a smartphone.

All I know is otterbox worked fine with wireless charging on the 11pro. Something changed and no longer compatible.

Love my Otterbox cases, they’ve saved me so much money since I’ve been using them in cracked screen repairs and iPhone replacement. I’ve been using defender cases for 3-4 years. This newest case for my iPhone 12 pro fits great, feels good in the hands, goes in and out of pockets easily and looks great. This newest defender has a little padding on the inside the rear of the hard plastic case which I though was a great upgrade as my other defenders have not had this and have caused wear to the back of my previous iPhones. Unfortunately it IS NOT as advertised WIRELESS CHARGING compatible or capable while the phone is in both layers of this case. I’ve tested with both the Verizon wireless charging pad & the new iPhone MagSafe charger. It will charge if you pull the outer rubber casing off but who wants to do that at every charge and risk wearing out the fit of that outer case. Other than that it’s a great case but I will more than likely be returning it and purchasing the new otterbox magsafe cases when they become available.

I have always had Otters and I have always bought the Defender series because whilst they may not be the prettiest case due to the extra bulk to provide greater protection this time it seems the company have gone for looks first as its not much thicker as there is non of the traditional bulky protective features are there.

First there is no raised edges around the screen, once the phone is inside its almost flush with the front of the case so you drop the phone and it lands on its front the screen has no protection.
There is a slight raised edge but its so small its insignificant.

My previous phone was an iPhone XR and you compare the Otterbox Defender case for the XR to the one for the iPhone 12 and the new one looks like a decorative case rather than a member of the defender lineup.

Its also not the snuggest fit I have ever had from an otterbox, again certainly not from the defender I had for the iPhone XR.

I ordered the case after I bought the phone and until it arrived I wanted something to protect the phone so on the high street I got a case for £3.
The otterbox arrived today put the phone inside and realised the only difference between the otter and cheap case is price one being £3 the other being over £40.

Would have returned it except unfortunately I didn’t think and threw away the packaging so now I have a £42 `otterbox and an identical non brand name case that cost me £3.
On the plus sider the Otterbox has a blue rubber outside and the cheap one was red so if I want I can mixed match.

Thankfully this case has not been given an opportunity to prove itself as I have not dropped the phone but to sum it up this case is expensive, and not as good as previous members of the Otterbox Defender family so probably best to avoid this one as there are plenty of other cases out there.

Does not work with wireless charging, buyer beware!!!!

If you get this case, buy a new wireless charger. I tested it and it works with newer wireless charging accessories.
