I purchased this oil for maintenance on my new Penn Pursuit reel. I chose the oil instead of the grease, after receiving advice from a Penn technician, since they both provide the same performance but using the oil would be a lot easier due to its liquid nature.
I purchased the 4-ounce instead of 2-ounce for the value. There’s so much oil in the 4-ounce bottle that I would recommend saving a few bucks and purchasing the 2-ounce one as it will probably last you decades.

This has been my favorite lube for my reels. For the cost it just gets the job done well. There are other superior lubes that require drying, and cannot be mixed with plastic parts and whatnot. This is just a drip it on and go solution.
A downside is that when the temp is cooler the oil gets thick enough to impair the bearings in a baitcaster.

I’m sure it’s good oil, being Penn and all, but what you can’t really see from the photos is that the tip is wide for some completely unexplained reason, making it very hard to dispense accurately for the precision parts on a fishing reel (e.g. bearings). Why in the world wouldn’t they just have a fine tip? I’m at a loss, but maybe there is some explanation that I can’t think of. Seems like a really poor design. Might try to find a different brand, or maybe just a different bottle to pour it in for precision dispensing.

PENN Reel Oil Sold by Berkley like it is theirs, this reel oil is light weight and clean to use. I’ve used many different oils to lube my reels and this oil is good to have on the work bench. I load it up in my oilers and put a drop on bearings regularly. I like it for four stars at this time and will continue to use it.

I ordered this because picture label and detail says it’s “synthetic oil” but when I received it, it’s labeled “precision oil”. The nozzle need to be thinner because it’s way too thick so makes it wasteful. Amazon customer service was great though to take care of the mistakes. Kudos to Amazon.

Don’t know if this is any better than any other light weight oil, but Penn recommends is, so why not use it. I love my Penn reels.
