The Surface Laptop line has for a long time lagged behind in specs for the price when compared to the Dell XPS and HP Spectre, but this iteration is close enough. The only thing it truly lacks is Thunderbolt, which I used exactly never on my previous laptop after three years. I can reliably get 10+ hours of battery life for general web use, 6 if I keep the brightness at full, and more than 8 for a typical developer load (Visual Studio, containers, SQL, etc.), which is more time than I will typically be sitting. The Alcantara feels amazing and premium. The keyboard is a little squishy in the middle, which is the only complaint that I have. The machine is mercifully shipped with no bloatware or extra junk to uninstall, and because Microsoft owns the OS, all of the drivers are automatically available and there’s nothing exotic.

I’ve been using Microsoft Surface laptops for personal and business use for years, and I’ve got no complaints. I like my hardware and software to be made by the same company so there’s less bloatware. I don’t use the laptop to game, edit videos, or anything intensive. (Unless you count having multiple tabs of Google Chrome open.) The machine runs smoothly. No complaints there. The angular metal exterior looks and feels great. It says professional without being as boxy as a ThinkPad.

I’ve been using the Microsoft Laptop since version 1 and it has consistently been an amazing piece of hardware! I was so glad to get the Microsoft Laptop 4 – it has great performace, lightweight, and is fast! Boot is super quick! Highly recommended for work or school.

Love this computer so far! It’s been on backorder for months… but its finally here. Only disappointment is that I didn’t realise there was no SD card port… not sure how I’m going to deal with the 1TB of space…
