I like the feature where you can measure how much popcorn can be measured in the lid and butter added to it for popping. However the lid is lightweight and just sits on the top, it does not have a firm seat. My first reaction was dayum it’s tiny. If I were to order again, I would go for the larger size. The glass part is extremely thin, I would not recommend this if there are small children or pets in the family. Risk of breakage/injury would be high. At the end of the day it’s a fancy glass bowl for popping corn and works as intended.
Update: Now that I have had a chance to use it several times. I can say that while it looks small it is the perfect size for one person (1.5 qt) and the mini schnauzer that is patiently waiting for a few pieces. Also cleaning it is easy as the top is large enough to get your hand inside. I would recommend holding it by the handle for cleanup. The glass is thin and I believe holding it by the handle will reduce the chance of breaking the glass.

I used this in my Microwave and it was not in even for the full couple of minutes , when i smelt like burning, i looked and seen steam and smoke coming out of the door , it had meted my door.
I got a hold of Amazon , they offered me a full refund on the popper, with was appreciated.
I also told them of the possible fire hazard

This little popper is expensive but worth every penny. I’m glad I bought it and here’s why. The red top, cover and bottom are made with silicone so they don’t get hot. The top indention in the cover is for measuring the kernels and I use two instead of one and it pops almost to the top. No worry about chemicals in microwave bags any longer and I can choose my own healthy organic Great Northern popcorn, avocado oil and sea salt. Oil is optional. I like Great Northern because it’s fresh and crunchy. I just wish I had ordered the larger three quart size popcorn maker but this is fine as I make two batches. This is a good size for kids or when you just want a little snack.

Makes great popcorn, but the more its used the more it breaks as the top edge keeps breaking off.

I wanted to get our family away from ordering cases of single-serve popcorn bags as well as microwave popcorn. This did the trick. It only holds a half-serving, which I like. The air popper in our cabinet has to be full or it blows half the kernels out, and once it’s popped it’s hard to restrain yourself from eating 8 servings.
It worked with the popcorn setting on my microwave that determines how long to pop on its own. (How does it know?) It worked the same when I put some olive oil in the bottom so salt and “yeast food” would stick afterward. No issues in the dishwasher, either, though I don’t use the dry setting.
EDIT: Our microwave occasionally stops rotating. I didn’t notice and it melted a portion of the bottom while leaving most popcorn unpopped and the rest scorched. It still works in spite of the damage, but I now know it has to be moving.

I was making microwave popcorn in brown lunch bags when I spotted this item. I choose this one because other similar items did not have the protective plastic around the bottom and I just knew it wouldn’t last long if I didn’t have the bottom protected. I have only used this item twice but in general I am pleased. When I made my popcorn in the lunch bag I used the 1/4 cup measure and I think I will test this out next time with that or close to that. I actually don’t know how much fits into the top of the fill cap. When I used the fill cap measure I only got a half “pot” of popcorn. Enough for one snack serving. There wasn’t much difference in the number of kernels that did not pop between this and the lunch bag. If anything this may have popped a few more kernels. But again I used a different measure for the lunch bag. I set the microwave at 3 minutes and then listened for when there were a few seconds between pops to know it was done. It is harder to hear the popcorn in this popper than in the lunch bag so don’t stroll too far away. I did use the butter option and didn’t have any problems. The lunch bags I could throw away and this I have to clean but sometimes the lunch bags would break as the kernels popped and then I had to clean the popcorn and kernels out of the microwave.

⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ We used this for the first time and it made weird popping noises and visual sparks came from the popper! We opened the microwave and the red rubber part had MELTED and CAUGHT FIRE‼️🔥🔥🔥 It was literally on fire‼️🔥🔥🔥 The whole unit (glass/rubber/plastic) was extremely hot to the touch and I needed 2 oven mitts to remove it from the microwave. Good thing I stayed in the kitchen and noticed it or else we could have had a house fire!! My son was the one making the popcorn and if I hadn’t been there he would have burned himself. This item NEEDS to be taken off the market. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️

The bottom of the pot melted in my microwave on first use. Very dangerous! I let it cool, scraped the plastic off the microwave and shipped it back to the seller

We’ve tried 3 different varieties of kernels (Jolly Time, Orville R, and Trader Joes brand) and many different cooking methods, but still can’t ever get a full container full of popped corn. However, we can reliably now get 2/3 to 3/4 full with no burning. As long as you are willing to accept dumping a fair amount of un-popped kernels at the end, I think you will be happy with this popper. It is easy to use and clean, and none of that junk that is in bagged microwave popcorn.
Here’s our method for getting the best out of this popper:
* Pre-heat the glass container by putting a little bit of water in it and microwaving it for 90 seconds. We find this helps yield more popcorn if the container starts out warm
* Dump the water and fully dry out the container
* Add 1 & 1/2 measured “scoops” of kernels, dry, no oil
* Pop for 3 minutes and 30 second (the ideal time will depend on your microwave YMMV)
* Do not use the silicone top to melt butter; if you want butter, melt that separately. This provides better coverage and makes the container easier to clean or to turn around and make another batch immediately.

I am so disappointed we had another microwave popper that we used for years. Wanted a new one and thought this would be nice since it is glass and dishwasher safe. No matter how much fresh popcorn, time cooked, oil or butter the popcorn burns and it only pops half the kernels. Not worth the money.
