Bought this because I wanted something lighter and less bulky than a full pole saw. It fit the bill perfectly. It is easy to carry around and bungee onto front of ATV to drive out to the worksite. Much better than maneuvering a heavy and bulky full sized pole saw.
Pros: light and compact. Sturdy. The locking clips never slipped once during a week of heavy duty farm work. The saw is light enough to use all day long and doesn’t burn out my arm muscles. Reaches 99% of the limbs I want to cut, then I only need to drag out the long pole saw at end of the day to get the few higher limbs that I couldn’t reach.
Cons:. None really. I did replace the standard 12″ blade that came with this saw with an extra Fiskars 15″ blade made for the bigger pole saws. This was a personal preference so I could easily cut the bigger limbs with less strokes. The wingnut that keeps the blade extended did loosen up a bit every so often, but this is expected on an adjustable blade mount.
Used it to clear approx 1000 ft of hardwood treeline on our farm. It’s lightweight so it’s easy to carry around and doesn’t wear you out after a long day of work. Paid $28. I would buy it again.

A good branch saw when used for the intended purpose of cutting branches close to the trunk.
I was impressed by the sturdy build, and surprised the blade didn’t come loose once during a first 40-45 minutes of vigorous use– that’s with the wing-nut only hand tightened. I really expected to have to re-tighten it a couple of times, but it stayed perfectly in place. The pole also stayed locked into its extended position the whole time. Impressive.
That said, expect to put in some serious elbow grease for each cut, especially at full extension. This pole is about the longest you’d want on a tree saw. Any longer, and the effort of applying pressure that far from the cut point becomes very tiring. If you want one of the saws with a 12-foot or 16-foot pole? Make sure to get one with a motorized saw or a lopper.
This Fiskars is reasonably sharp– you use short strokes against the side of the branch, and curve in the blade extends the cut to the top of the branch. It’s a clever design. Ideally I’d prefer a little longer, sharper, and less flexible a blade, to get it to bite into the wood faster, but the flexible blade likely works better for less-careful cuts.
Note you do need to use this saw as intended. Further away from the trunk, the saw blade doesn’t catch the wood very well and the branch moves, and it’s hard to get a good cut started, even as you shred the tree bark in multiple spots. For the same reason, the saw didn’t work well on woody vines.
A nice saw for DIY shaping of shade trees or removing low-hanging dead branches. Remember to wear safety glasses!
Recommended.

Initially kept it in the smallest length to try it out, didn’t measure so not sure what it is. reached out to cut a limb. unable to do so unless I held the limb steady with my other hand. so it was awkward to use in it’s smallest form. knowing this I knew would not be able to use it at any of the extension lengths to cut higher branches which would be out of my reach to hold with other hand, then would have no way to put pressure enough on the cutting area to cut limbs. sent the product back. REALLY need something to cut limbs but this is not the product for me to do so. AMAZON HAS SENT ME A LINK 3 times now to review this item…which I already reviewed prior to sending it back. thank you and please quite sending me emails to review this item.

I am a Fiskars fan, own a few of their products from scissors to hatchets and hedge shears. Blades have been exceptional and keep their edge as long as i take care of them. Fiskars pleasantly sent a replacement part when I needed it for the hedge shears. My problem with this tree pruner is not with the blade but the extension pole, and now with Fiskars’ customer service. My experience – in the first shipment the lock button came cracked and the button was stuck in the pole. I finally got it to release but then neither the upper or the lower locks would lock into place making the tool useless. Rather than just return it to Amazon, I decided to call Fiskars directly as it was clearly a manufacturer’s defect covered under warranty (theoretically), and I wanted Fiskars to be aware of it. Fiskars did consider it but decided it had been damaged in shipment and instructed me to return it to Amazon. I doubted that it was damaged in shipment as it was well packed and the cracked button itself was under the tough plastic manufacturer’s packaging that showed no sign of being damaged. I did return it to Amazon and opted for a replacement. The replacement came with no sign of damage or defect. The locks locked into place, but upon actually using it the lock button for the lower section of the pole didn’t hold. So, instead of sawing a branch, the extension pole just glided up and down and the blade stayed still. Though the pole being in a practical sense shorter, I used it for my limb trimming project. Happy with the blade but ticked off about the extension pole. I am disappointed by Fiskars on two points – the fact that they would produce such a very, very inferior extension pole; and their customer service, in my mind, not living up to their manufacturer’s defect warranty. So buyer, beware.

Great saw …. my go-to for light work around our wooded acres. Bought my first one a few years ago. Did dozens if not hundreds of cuts and it’s still holding up well. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that Fiskars doesn’t sell the specific replacement blades for this pole. Bought a couple that were close, but had to drill holes to modify so they’d fit the handle. Just stunned that Friskars doesn’t sell an exact replacement blade and mark their product as such, big miss for additional sales. At any rate, best value out there hence my reason for purchasing another – will use it for the more careful cuts and the old one for lopping off larger stuff.
