It’s about time somebody made a serious spotlight camera with clear, crisp video quality. The Eufy security floodlight cam combines powerful lights with an intelligent 2k res camera that only goes on when it detects human motion. My current system would light up when a fly passed through the infrared beam at night; you can imagine what a nuisance those false alarms were like in the summer.
The AI distinguishes between a human and an animal or even shade cast in it’s field of view, which means less false alarms. Mounting to my existing junction box was very easy with just a center bolt to screw in the included bracket. Unfortunately, my box was located upside down in the eve and I had a hard time positioning the camera that way, so I installed another unit on the wall making it much easier. The 2K camera captures video in 4mp resolution which is both clear and un-pixelated when viewing remotely. The ability to dim the lights down to 22% is great if you want to use them as dusk to dawn or have them on a schedule. You can even set them differently for motion and manual operation. I really would’ve liked if you could adjust the color temp, the 5000k is quite different from my other outside lighting so I can’t use them on a schedule. I’m appreciative of the built-in storage so you don’t have to pay monthly for a service if you don’t want to. Though, 4GB is a mere pittance for storage these days so I would probably expect 3-6 months before it starts overwriting old recordings. In addition to sound, it has 2 way communication and a siren if you need to scare someone away.
I think this unit is a good buy for the features and ease of setup. Just the fact that you don’t need a specific app to operate it other than the Eufy app that also allows me to use my doorbell cam, is a bonus. 2k video is the best I’ve seen, most only use 1080p. It’s a great addition to my security network!

This is what I would call a hybrid device. It has a wireless security camera that uses your home wifi and being a floodlight, it needs to be hard-wired to AC power. Replacing an existing exterior flood is very simple, but a new location will require extending a circuit and installing an outside electrical box. That’s simple enough, but if you’re not capable and comfortable doing it yourself, you’ll have to call an electrician. Depending on where you live, it may be required.
This light and camera combo is controlled by Eufy’s security app. It comes with a temporary “pigtail” plug attached which is used solely to connect it to the app and your WIFI before moving it to a permanent outside location. This is the same app that controls all Eufy security devices. However, this camera is a bit unique since it stores video on internal memory rather than using a Eufy Homebase. That does make it a stand-alone unit without the need to have a Homebase. However, it also means that your security video clips are gone if the unit is damaged or stolen. The only safeguard is to subscribe to Eufy’s Cloud storage at $3 a month or $30 a year. Since I have other Eufy cameras, I wish there was an option to have those clips also stored inside on my Homebase.
Setup was quick and easy, and the app leads you through the process. I then took the unit outside and connected it again with the pigtail and an extension cord to make sure my WIFI made a strong connection in my proposed location. If you have signal trouble, your choices are to try another location, move your router or mesh system node, or get a WIFI extender. It connects to the 2.4 GHz band, and you need a solid signal to stream video to your phone or tablet.
The Eufy app is quite good and gives total control of both the light and security camera functions. As with most Eufy products, you can carry on a conversation with someone outside … or scare them off! The very bright LED floods can be turned on and off manually, run in dusk to dawn mode, or triggered by motion detection. Sensitivity is adjustable, activity (trigger) zones can be defined, and programs can be set for active times. The camera works in a night mode (black and white), but the video is much better when the lights come on and you get 2K color video. The field of view is very wide at about 150 degrees, so there is a fair distortion. This latest and improved floodlight from Eufy also includes their AI, which means you can set it to react to any motion or only when it determines it sees humans. As with their other cams, this does work well. After the first night or two, I changed to all motion and not only saw every car but a raccoon and fox walking up my alley. That’s a lot of notification.
Yes, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but the Eufy Floodlight Camera does everything it’s designed to do, and the build quality is quite good. It’s both a bright and programmable floodlight and a very good security camera. If you have any other Eufy products, it’s the obvious choice to add a security light and camera. As a stand-alone product, it requires only WIFI and your phone. And, of course, it can play with Alexa. If it could record to my Homebase to give security without a subscription, I would have given it 5 stars.

High quality! Excellent capabilities (although the speaker should be much louder and the video clips have to be manually reduced (in length or in resolution) if sharing via e-mail. (That’s to be expected for videos that have 2K resolution.). Big on privacy, it was disappointing to have to forgo a survey from Eufy because it was supplied in Google Docs.

We are leaving for a sabbatical soon and I have been looking for security cameras and floodlights to provide feedback while on the road. With the eufy Floodlight Cam 2K you get the best of both worlds, a high intensity floodlight and a 2K security camera! There is an existing floodlight on our front deck and is a perfect location for the new eufy.
Unboxing – eufy did a great job of making the install and setup of this system very easy. Included in the box with the camera and mounting equipment are a couple items that really helped out. The camera comes with a pigtail power cord attached so the camera can be set up before installing and a small “S” shaped hook to hang the floodlight while connecting to the power source on install. They are simply yet very useful additions to the package.
Set Up – Simply plug the unit into an AC outlet with the aforementioned pigtail power cord and wait until the LED on the unit blinks red. While that is running, it’s required to download the eufy App for your Apple or Android device. The app was easy to use on my iPhone as it walks the user through the setup steps to connect to the unit. An important step to consider during setup and mounting location planning is to make sure there is a strong WiFi signal so the camera can stream live video. We have a mesh device very close to the mounting location and live “Drop-In Anytime” video streaming works great!
Mounting – Once the existing floodlight was removed, it was a simple process to install the Eufy system. They provide all of the mounting hardware in the box, including the nifty hook to hold the unit in place while connecting the wires. It’s a very clean looking unit once in place as there is a single mounting screw that holds the unit to the power box and a matching rubber cover to hide the screwhead. The lights and camera are all easily adjusted with thumbscrews on the lights and a ball and socket connection on the camera.
Camera/Floodlight Settings – Once installed, it’s time to customize the system, and Eufy provides a number of setting options including motion detection sensitivity, recording options, video quality, notifications and storage to name just a few. I haven’t used any Eufy devices in the past and was really impressed with the ease-of-use of their app and the multitude of settings and adjustments available.
    Pros:
    – Very well-built unit and easy to setup and install
    – eufy Security App is loaded with features/setup options and is user-friendly
    – 2K video is crisp and the Drop-In Anytime live feed option is great for piece-of-mind
    – 2,000 lumen floodlights light up our entire deck and makes for amazing night video capture
    – Built in AI cuts the number of “false alarms” considerably by designating “Human Only” alerts
    – GEO Fencing option for turning the system on/off when away or at home
    – Local Storage – no need to pay for monthly storage, there is 3.7GB available on the unit
    – 100dB alarm and two-way communication for added security is a must!
    Cons:
    – Sporadically the camera will not be available to connect for live streaming. Will need to do a bit more research on this, but basically just need to “retry” to connect on occasion.
The eufy Floodlight Cam 2K is exactly what I was hoping for when selected. It’s solidly built, easy to install and setup and has so many features/options. I would certainly recommend this system for anyone considering a purchase of a security camera or motion sensor floodlight.

I highly recommend this floodlight camera for so many reasons. It is easy to use, has excellent features, and simply works.
This light includes very easy to follow instructions and a kit that helps you install the unit with ease. You screw in one bracket, hang the light with an included hook, splice the wires, then screw the unit into the bracket. That’s it!
Installation is a breeze with the included app. You scan a QR code on the unit and it installs on the app. You must register a new account first. The entire setup via the app takes less than 5 minutes.
The camera and light has several features via the app. You can setup a highly articulated motion zone which I found very helpful. I have this mounted next to my back door and I setup the zone to not recognize my arm when I open the door to let the dogs outside. It does detect if a person was walking towards my back door however. Perfect!
You can also turn the light on or off via the app, adjust brightness, and set timers. You can turn the camera on or off if you wanted to use as just a motion flood light. It has night vision and you can adjust video and audio quality settings.
It even has a 2 way mic/speaker so you can talk to people outside via the camera. The best part is that there is hardly a delay on the video on the app. It is probably the shortest delay of any camera I have in my home.
I love this camera and floodlight, and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to illuminate an area via motion detection and also have video monitoring at the same time. A must buy!

I replaced an older motion lighting system with this camera system. The camera is super clear and lights are extremely bright. Just downloads the app create an account and go.
