I really enjoy this pack. As an avid simmer I love all the packs they bring out. My collection is complete now until the next pack is released.

Immediately after purchasing this I was given a code, but then the code that was emailed to me for activation was different. I assumed the code emailed to me was the correct code, but it did not work. The instructions were also wrong, because it was telling me to redeem with Microsoft store using a 25 digit code (neither code was 25 digits) when I needed to redeem in Origin. Luckily I had written down the first code because I could not find it again anywhere on my orders or in my email. This was a Christmas present for my mom and I ended up having to purchase it again on her Origin so that she could have it while I figured out the problem. I also play and used this download for myself, but it was a headache and I was not planning on purchasing this for myself right now. I haven’t actually gotten to play yet, but heads up if you run into issues with redeeming.

While I’m glad to see a couple of new aspirations and some nice build items, the expansion itself is clunky. Trying to do the events/festivals is meh and it’s really easy to accomplish things. I’m not fond of the sentiment system and the earned traits can be super annoying. Like workaholic… you get it when you go to work and work hard… the default state for Responsible sims. Then, if your sim isn’t at work (and even if you send them to work) there’s a Tense moodlet that shows up and does not go away. Which is super frustrating at the later levels of the careers when there’s 3 or more days off between shifts.
It feels like EA rushed this and phoned a lot of it in.
Two stars.

Paid 39.99 for this and there’s no way to report that origin is not accepting the code that was sent to me! I’m lying in bed with covid and that a lot of money down the drain 🙁

Loved the new content. Skiing, Snowboarding and they improved Rock Climbing, now you can rock climb in the game with out some work out machine. It took me a bit of time to figure out some of the Rock climbing events, but once I figured out how to do it, it was super fun. The lifestyles can be a bit annoying, but they give you plenty of options on how to get rid of one you don’t like. I love new styles and Furniture. I absolutely love that you can choose what kind of utensil your sim prefers to eat with. The thing I love least are the Sentiments. These can be really, really annoying. If for some reason two siblings get into a fight, one or both may end up holding a grudge for a long time, this can cause negative emotions every time the two sims meet, which if they are close or live together, means all the time. The only reason this doesn’t really affect my Stars is because it is just a bit annoying at times and they will eventually wear off with time. Plus the good sentiments make up for any bad sentiments.

This game pack was released prematurely. The platforms it utilizes are beyond glitchy, which effects the way the game runs in the world overall. Once you get passed that it’s a pleasant experience.

Basically, I was hesitant to buy this because of all the reviews talking about how codes didn’t work or how it was confusing but since I just bought it and figured out pretty quickly how to do it I wanna explain what to do. So, this is for the PC/Mac version, right after you order you’ll get 2 separate emails to the email you use for your Amazon account, each one is going to have a code but one is going to be labelled “Order #”, the code you’re actually looking for to download the expansion is the one labelled “Product Code”, right after you see that go directly to your Origin application, click on “Origin” at the top left next to the logo, click on Redeem Product Code, enter in the Product Code and just download. For me it only took 8 minutes and the game runs perfectly. I’ll admit the Sentiments are a little annoying at first but if you really don’t like them you can go into a Household game, go to Menu, click Game Options, go to Gameplay and get rid of the checkmark next to Lifestyles and click Apply Changes. That’s really it though, it’s really fun to play around with 🙂

As a lifelong sim fan, it has been a bad couple of years for us simmers. The idea of Snowy Escape is awesome. Japanese culture! Sadly the pack doesn’t live up to the hype. There are some positives. First off, there is a new world with several plots. Secondly, there are a decent amount of Japanese inspired buy items. Now for the cons, the pack is more like a new vacation spot vs a new town. I feel like they started making a new vacation pack but had to give it more items to make it work, so they picked Japan. If they had just split the pack, one for snowing vacation and one for Japanese culture, it would have worked so much better. The snowy activities get boring pretty quick but I am using the new build/buy items more. I got the pack when it was 50% off ($20) and I still feel that was a bit much. Overall, just wait for it to go on sale, its not worth it full price.
