Nice product and easy to operate. The sound quality is poor. Also, the sounds are artificial and repetitive, which becomes irritating after a while. I have returned the product. Get yourself a better system with real sounds.

We purchased two of these sounds machines. The first one started to cycle through all the sounds within a week of purchasing. It first started just switching from white noise to the ocean sound. Then, within a few days, it started cycling through all the sounds. It would cycle from sound to sound every 15 seconds or so. We returned the first machine through amazon. The second machine worked fine for about a month. Now, it has started switching to just one other sound. I’m assuming it will begin cycling through all the sounds within a few days. We were using them in our kids rooms for nap and bedtime but they’re are waking up because of the change in sounds. We obviously can no longer use them. We should have returned the second one with the first because now the window has passed for returning.

This machine is amazing. I bought several sound machines for my house when my child was born in order to soothe him. They were at least twice the price of this one. After using them for a while I got sick of crackly sound that they were producing and decided to replace one of them with something different. I chose Big Red Rooster machine because it had great reviews and I also liked the way it looked. I was definitely a little skeptical because it wasn’t a brand name and the price point was a little low. However, I figured the brand name ones I have were horrible so it couldn’t be much worse. Not only Big Red Rooster is better, it is actually an outstanding machine. Very compact and the sound is amazingly clear, no crackling. I could honestly compare it to my Bose speaker sound quality. So if you are thinking about ordering it-do it. Worst case it can be returned but I doubt it would come to that.

Im not sure if the video captures how horrible the white noise sounds. It sounds more like a static sound the TV makes, but is not at all calming or relaxing. We mainly got it because our apartment is right next to the laundry and metal stairs. We hoped this would mask some of the noise, but it itself is very irritating to listen to. DO NOT BUY!

I’ve looked at a few different white noise machines and they’re either stupidly expensive for what it is, or incredibly cheap sounding. This one was on an Amazon flash deal a while back so I thought I’d try it out. The sound quality is decent but some of the recorded noises are questionable. For instance, my boys start laughing when I turn on the “babbling brook” noise because it sounds like someone peeing. The thunder storm one is fun but you can tell when it starts over again. The night time noises are great though – kind of a camping in the woods sound with crickets and such. Mainly though it’s just used in the boys’ rooms for the actual white noise setting to drown out our loud neighbors. All in all it’s a good little device for the price but my main gripe is the sound levels – it’s either too loud or too quiet. You push the button and barely notice a change until about the mid-volume range then it goes from “shhhhh” to “SSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH”. In order to get it just where we want it, we put it on the louder volume and just throw a thin burp rag over it to muffle it a little.
PROS:
-Good value
-it’s aesthetically pleasing, it’s actually a pretty good looking noise machine. Definitely not the ugliest one I’ve seen.
– Decent sounds and sound quality for a cheaper unit
– small unit that can easily fit on a shelf or elsewhere
– fairly good quality construction
CONS:
– Buttons click loudly when pushed so you can’t be sneaky if you’re turning it on/off in your kids room when they’re already asleep.
– Power button has an LED which is a little too bright but can work as a dim night-light
– Volume adjustment needs more levels at the mid-range instead of just jumping from semi-soft to loud with a single button push.
– A little bit better speaker quality wouldn’t hurt – it’s okay for the price but still has that slight tin-can sound.
Until I find a better one in this price range, I’d still recommend this one as it is pretty good for the money.
**UPDATE**
we have two of these sound machines, one for each of our kids’ rooms. The first one we purchased in July of 2017 and it’s still going strong even after almost three years of daily use. The sound quality is still the same as the first day and the volume is still wonky, but I feel it important to report that they have definitely withstood the test of time.

High frequency noise often found in computerized renditions of natural sounds is a problem that exists in this product. When used in a sleep environment, the high pitched hiss of their computerized version of natural sounds can prevent sleep rather than aid it. But having some basic sound engineering background, I realized that what is needed is a low-pass baffle, that would allow the lower sound frequencies to pass thru, while blocking the high frequency computerized noise. The solution is simple in this case. Just keep the box the product comes in, and when using the sound machine, after you have set the noise and volume to your liking, just put it back inside the box and close the lid. By playing this sound machine inside its own packaging carton you can get a nice soothing sound of rain, that is now guaranteed by me to allow deep sleep. A flawed product, but with simple customer intervention can work well. Too bad the manufacturer couldn’t build in tone control, not hard to do, but they didn’t do it. But if you prefer higher pitched full treble renditions of natural sound, you may prefer this unit’s sound as is.

Very flimsy product, bad quality and the sounds are metallic and disruptive. I kept waking up because the machine produced a weird side noise that wasn’t part of the sound. Tried to return product only to find out that I will be charged over $5 for shipping (that’s over 25% of the product price) even though I have Amazon Prime. Very upsetting. Do not buy this product, it’s a waste of money.
