  • This Schwinn Koen boy’s bike with 12-inch wheels is designed for children 2 – 4 years old or 28 – 38 inches tall. The Koen is perfect for riding to the park or riding on the sidewalk around the neighborhood.
  • With Schwinn’s SmartStart Technology, this bike is designed just for kids: lighter frame, cranks and pedals are positioned forward, gearing designed for easier starting, narrower pedal positions, and smaller grips and seat.
  • Designed with younger riders in mind, this bike includes a rear coaster brake (reverse the pedals to stop) and a front caliper brake (hand-brake like adult bikes); easing the transition to a hand-brake-only bike when they’re ready.
  • The adjustable saddle, seat post, and slack seat-tube angle make for easy, tool-free adjustments to allow the Schwinn Koen boy’s bike to grow with your child and prepare them for a full-sized bicycle.
  • The Schwinn Koen boy’s bike with 12-inch wheels comes ready to be assembled and includes the following: training wheels, saddle handle, chainguard, and number plate.

Both rims came pre bent so they rub and don’t spin well. And the crank is hard to spin and makes an awful clicking noise. Schwinn used to be a quality brand. Not so sure about that anymore

I bought this bicycle as a birthday gift for my son I think it’s a nice bike and he seems to really like it it was quick and easy to assemble however while I was assembling the bicycle I noticed that the bolt holding the front brake system to the frame of the bicycle was snapped off so the brakes where just hanging from the front side of the neck on the frame and the cable that was mounted to the handle bars. I cant take it back from my son because he loves it but I would like to get a new mounting bolt for the front brake system or at least be givin a link to buy a new one.

It’s difficult to assemble. Even after assembling properly the brakes doesn’t fit properly.

Very nice bike. We got the 12inch wheels as my nephew will turn two in a few weeks. My husband said putting it together was fairly simple and he likes the sturdiness and how it looks once put together. He did not have problems with any part. Hopefully my nephew likes it.

Got this for my 2 yr old to grow into. His brother 5 years old is using it right now and loves it. We got the 12” wheels and my petite 5 yr old finds it less harrowing to ride then his 14” heavy Hotwheel bike. Its really changed the dynamic of his relationship to biking. Now he actually enjoys it and isn’t screaming every 5 minutes. So do get the right wheel size and make sure the bike isn’t too heavy. Obviously every kid is different- some won’t be intimidated riding a bike that’s a little taller or bigger. But my son isn’t the biggest dare devil- the smaller sized bike has been a game changer.

    Update 5/6/21
My now 6 year old learned how to ride a bike w/o training wheels on this. He rode it like a balance bike for an hour and then on the second day, he just started pedaling. The most amazing part for me was that he asked us to take the training wheels off on his own. This is the same kid who would scream if I wasn’t holding his handle bars on his bigger Hotwheel bike just half a year ago.

This bike really looks great. It seems to be very good quality. My 2 year old grandson hasn’t quite mastered the pedaling yet but we are hopeful he will really enjoy it once he does.

This is a really nice toddler bike. Easy to assemble although I believe I was sent the manual for a larger bike. My 2 1/2 year old is 33” tall and it fits him well except for the seat. I will have to get him an aftermarket seat that is longer seeing as how he is sitting on the handle.

    Liked:
-Nice sturdy frame with good quality tires.
-Just perfect for my 3 year
    -Comes with single break
-very easy to install 12′. Just front wheel, handle & training wheels needed to fix

    Dislike:
    -Slightly heavy but manageable
-The saddle is extra small and the saddle bar could be better quality
-Intelcom courier delivery was pathetic. They just dumped my package outside my apartment building

Very easy to assemble, very little to actually assemble. The front brakes needed a lot of adjustment right from the get go. Smaller than average kids will fit this bike just fine. It has a low center frame to step over too

Was a little disappointed that it didn’t include the simple tools to assemble it. I had to spend so much time to keep trying to find a right tool to start assembling it that’s why it took me so long to assemble it.
Also I was disappointed that your not able to contact the seller or Amazon with your concern.

I owned a Schwinn as a kid so I decided to buy one for my son. Never Again. First off, I’m shocked others haven’t complained about the directions that come with this bike. They’re generic instructions that aren’t specific to the bike. Half of the diagrams don’t even apply to the bike. Completely unacceptable. I’ve received instructions for cheaply made electronic items written in broken English that were more useful.

As for the bike itself, it’s certainly cute, but as you’ll see from other reviews, there are some quality control problems. On my bike, the “quick release” seat lever came in pieces that had to be assembled (though the instructions assume it comes assembled and don’t explain how to do this). Additionally, the brakes do not work properly and while the instructions dedicate a section to adjusting them, as noted above, the diagrams for how to adjust the breaks are clearly for a different model bike. Shame on Schwinn.

In summary, if you’re experienced with bikes, I’m guessing you will be able to overcome the above issues and figure how to make this work. For a novice or anyone who can’t put it together by just looking at the parts…go find another bike.

This was a very nice bike for my three year old grandson. He took to it right away and enjoys pedaling around the block. I give this product a strong endorsement.

It’s ok. Pros are that it’s decent quality and it’s very stable with no loose parts. Cons are is extremely heavy and stiff, those back pedal brakes are hard for a child to learn with because they want to Pedal backwards and they end up just skidding the tire. It weighs more than my adult GT bike.
