Yeah, I think that is by far the most important thing about this review. This isn’t a big deal for softer foods, but you don’t get a mandoline just for the soft stuff, you get it for things that take work. While chopping olives has been fine, my seitan has had plastic in it consistently – that’s the little white bits in those photos. It’s also not a fluke. I hoped it was, as I like the thing well enough but I replaced the first and found the same problem with the second. Multiple uses for both, and it only got worse the more I used it so it wasn’t just factory debris.

It’s also, to be blunt, a pain to clean and food gets stuck in the top and bottom rather than coming all the way out. It does clean well enough thanks to the included brush/pick, but no way to disassemble or get a good deep clean, just surface work. Not a fan of that.

And, you know…plastic in the food. Not a fan of that either.

It does chop nicely enough – not perfectly, as chewy things will take some extra work and don’t always slice evenly. Because of the hopper angle you’ll get a weird angle as you cut which causes a few small chunky slices as an inevitability, and likely some tearing on chewier things (pepperoni sticks, for example). Those will likely get stuck in the top or bottom and may come out with some taps, or may have to be removed later while cleaning.

Also it chops its own plastic fantastically. Really nice clean cuts that, unlike the other food you’re cutting, will fall right into the tray into your food.

Too bad, it’s really good for things that require a bit more work, and the design is indeed quite safe to chop with. I do have to dismiss some of the safety though, as it *is* tough to clean the raised blades, you really have to get in there, and it’s easy to cut yourself in that process. Oh, and the part where it drops bits of plastic in your food, that’s probably not safe either. I’m lucky I was only heating the seitan around 200 degrees in my Dash air fryer when I spotted it.

Then again, who knows how much was in that pizza I cooked at 550 before seeing the issue, eh?

Amazing slicing tool for any cook. Slicing is fast, uniform, easy to set up and clean up. I am very impressed with this mandoline slicer. I currently have a different mandoline but I need to glove up to use it and I need a large working surface to be covered to catch slices therefore I use it reluctantly. This is definitely an upgrade replacement I have been using in my cooking daily if not several times a day due to ease of operation. Definitely recommend.

Wrote a more detailed and thorough review but I got “lost” so here’s the short and sweet of it.
    1. Uneven/not uniform cuts. vegetables will all be slant Cuts Bc shoot is slanted and blade comes down at 90. Uneven cuts because the pieces don’t come out of the top and sometimes come back down Into the chamber to be rechopped in a weird cut. The solution is to reach in and take out each piece that falls down each chop but that’s time-consuming and this defeats the purpose of not having your hand near a blade. If you let plunger fully recoil to get them to come up, Veggies fly everywhere.

    2. Hard to clean, time consuming and frustrating. This was not easy to clean even with the included toothbrush and a strong faucet power wash As there are many grooves, slits and slants. Carrots stained device.

    3. Limited use. You cannot use us to do lengthwise cuts of zucchini or eggplant as you are limited to the size of the blade and plunger so you only get circles or short fries.

    4. Unlabeled tabs. It takes a lot of time to figure out What mode device is in, Julianne vs stick vs slice The little tab that you’re supposed to turn counterclockwise and clockwise don’t have any labels so you don’t know unless you pick up the entire device and to see if the blades engaged or bend down and look up. I figured it out but it’s certainly not convenient to not have a label.

I attached pictures where I did an experiment. Comparing the Dash safe cut, my old dull sharper image mandolin and hand cut.
Overall hand cutting took more attention but are ok not entirely even, mandolin has uniform cuts but bc it’s old and needs replacing required force, dash has random cuts on slants..

My overall conclusion is to just buy a newer better sharper standard mandolin that is multifunctional and use a cutting gloves or just suck it up and get out a knife.

I wanted to do a thorough review because all the reviews are five stars and this may be the only product that I had to return same day. I gave two stars because of the sharpness of the blade and the safety function. if you have kid Cooks in the kitchen this is safe and if you have limited hand Function or strength ,as long as you don’t care about cuts, this will work for you.

    I hope this helps!

FYI uneven cuts aren’t just about aesthetics, it allows for even cooking

Me encanta!!!
Es súper ligero y cabe en un cajón con todas sus piezas.

Não vem com manual de instruções nem com a escovinha para limpar as partes de difícil acesso. Lâminas entortaram com uma simples cenoura

I love it!! Was searching a good slicer for a long time but it always cut my nails or the handle is not strong enough(or stuck) to cut my food.

I love that it’s doesnt risk cutting my nails or fingers, it’s also quite compact to keep. Cleaning wise so far ok, they provide a brush to clean.
Only thing is i need to familiar with the mode of cutting.

    – I tried sweet potato, it does work but make sure you use a bit of strength
    – The feeder is not wide, so need to cut my potatoes in smaller chunks before feeding in, of course the sliced potato coming out of it is very short
    – Has an apparently unethical design: the 3 sticks shown on my photo, you pull them up by a considerable force every time you insert or take out the feeder, so when these hard plastic sticks are broken (if the 3 sticks comes together as a button, it would be way harder to break) by a number of uses, it’s time to buy a new one.
    – There is an exact same model of this by a different brand name and is cheaper on Amazon which I saw after buying this one.

This product was intended for use with a developmentally delayed person to aid in cooking. While it’s safety features are exactly as described, the cutting prep work involved before using the chopper is so much that it defeats the purpose of the product. There are only so many vegetables that can fit in the chute and the rest have to be cut to size. That being said, the design is very efficient. It has clear instructions and photos on how to use this product. There are even a few recipes at the back. The top handle has a twist and lock feature to secure the blade. There are two knobs at the back to adjust the blade and a rotating dial to adjust thickness of the cuts. It also has suction cups at the feet to prevent slipping. The force it takes to push the handle is rather entertaining for little ones as they get to see each chop fly into the container provided which sits securely underneath. A downside to this product lies in the cleaning. When cutting very thin slices, the debris gather on the bottom and gets stuck. Even using the small brush that’s included is not very effective. I had to use the force of the sink water sprayer to remove the pieces. Overall this product is well designed but does not eliminate the need to use a knife to chop.
