This is a very sturdy cheese grater that comes with a container to grate your cheese in. It is rather large compared to standard size ones but fits in my cupboard ok. Grating cheese directly in the container can be a bit messy as quite a lot land on the outside of the grater so I have learnt to place the grater on top of Kitchen paper. It is also very good for grating carrots, celeriac and slicing potatoes. And the container is really useful to store left over Parmesan in the fridge. All in all I am very happy with it 😊

I had this same grater in black and it lasted about 10 years before the plastic part near the handle broke. When I went to replace my cheese grater I saw many cheaper alternatives but I wanted one that was going to last at least another 10 years. I also still have the storage container from my first cheese grater. The 10 year old container is still in perfect conditon and I wanted to get a grater that could be used with it. I was delighted to see this grater comes in “Aqua Sky” for only a couple dollars more than the black one. I would call this color more of a dark teal. The color is darker than the picture and a different shade from other teal Kitchen Aide items I own but I still like it. Having two containers to grate multiple items is a nice bonus.

I purchased this greater because I thought it would be more convenient to use since it has the holding container and it’s nice and big, HOWEVER, it’s not very useful and I miss my old grater after using this only twice.

Most of the cheese that you will grate will fall towards the front outside of the greater (NOT in the holding container) so it just makes a great big mess. In addition, the covers for the container don’t actually adhere securely, so the likelihood of spilling cheese is quite high.

Heed my warning. Save your old grater. This is not an upgrade, it is a poor replacement which will cause unneeded kitchen mess and frustration.

All in all, I’m really disappointed with this product and this purchase. It did not improve my life whatsoever and only cost me financially.

Best grater I’ve had. Big and sturdy. Handy storage box fits inside. Love it.

When I ordered this product I thought it was much smaller. But since I’m not used to having kitchenaid money I was going to be happy with this mini.
But she arrived today and I literally squealed in delight! This is a phenomenal quality product and is quite large! The holding/catching container is brilliant. It’s heavy duty plastic and marked with measurements
Must order! I already ordered matching measuring spoons. 😍

Why, oh why, was my arm hurting all the time when I was grating cheese? I finally figured out that my grater was the cause!

Stayed with my brother recently, who has this KitchenAid grater. I could not believe that grating a block of Colby Jack for enchiladas or Romano cheese for pasta was so easy. Immediately ordered one of these for myself, before I even left his house.

I’ve used this for several months and am amazed how well it works. Downside? That tub that’s included. While it may be a nifty idea in theory, in reality it’s marginally effective. Placing the grater on top of it and expecting your cheese to completely make it into this tub is a wasted effort (this is physics here). It’s a nice measuring and storing piece, but do NOT expect to have all of the contents that you’re grating make it into this container if you attach it to the bottom (a portion of what you’re grating, after all, ends up on the exterior of the grater and will not fall into the tub).

Otherwise, this a large grater with sharp blades that make my cheese-grating tasks SO MUCH easier!

The plastic nubs that hold the handle to the body sheared off the first time we put it back together after cleaning. I will be able to fix it by drilling a couple of small holes for screws to be applied but this should not have happened to an item at this price. The device itself is great but the handle was poorly attached.

This is, by far, the sharpest shredder we own. Kitchen Aid is excellent quality on everything they make. I rate this four stars, however, because inspite of this being a box-type shredder and having a container at the bottom, only about half of what you shred goes inside the box shredder and into the container. The other half is all over the place outside. Use a large bowl to rest this shredder in so that your shredded vegetable is pretty much in one place and easier to scoop.

I didn’t expect it to throw cheese everywhere, it seems blunt!

Efficient grater…. But a lot bigger than I expected. Could be a storage problem for some people.

This grater is HUGE! If you need an industrial sized grater, this is for you. It is the size of a half gallon of milk!

I purchased this as a grater, but was hoping the smallest holes could be used for zesting things like lemons, etc. In any event, I tried this for the FIRST time last night, and the zesting did not go so well. It did seem to take the peel off in zest size pieces, but the pieces all stayed in metal grater portion, so there was no way to get them. I had hoped they would either fall into the included cup, or fall straight down onto the cutting board. Guess it is not good for zesting. In any event, my less than optimal review is also for poor durability. As mentioned, this was the first time I had ever used the device. After zesting, I picked the grater with attached cup off of the cutting board a few inches, and the cup fell from the counter to the floor and a large piece shattered off. I called KitchenAid, thinking they might at least replace the cup (or allow me to buy a new one), but they basically said that they cannot be responsible for items that fall and they do not sell any replacement parts. I do take partial responsibility for the fall, but I would hope that it would have fit firmer into the bottom (or looser, so it would have stayed on the cutting board). It seemed to be made of a rubbery plastic, and I would have hoped it would be more durable and not broken so easily. Their Amazon listing clearly says “One year hassle-free replacement and lifetime limited warranty”. Trying to replace the cup was not hassle-free, and they said no. I have since switched to Microplane graters, which seem to grate better at all sizes and are much easier to use and clean.

So we ordered this expecting a smaller grater. When it arrived it was much larger than we thought. No worries though as we quickly learned that sometimes bigger is better. We mostly use this to shred cheese and with the small container that comes with it you can shred right into the container to avoid extra mess. Also, the color matches our other kitchen utensils and décor.
