This blender is fantastic IF you’re always making very large batches. I tried to make a small portion of almond butter but had to finish it off in my older smaller blender. Since the blades on this blender sit high off the floor of the container, the blades just whir above the product and you’ll continually be scrapping the sides and still never get a smooth product. I prefer to make small batches of products since most don’t last long, and we like to eat many different things. If you’re always making large batches of product (e.g. minimum would be 2 cups of almond butter from 4 cups of almonds), then definitely this is the blender for you!

Would have given this 5 stars if Vitamix had let us know this doesn’t accommodate small to normal volumes of product. Although they do say this is the “Professional” series (restaurant volume), so just know they mean it!

UPDATE: You can buy additonal smaller containers (32 or 48 oz) for this base for about $100 each.

It is a super great machine, always makes a job done perfectly, although it is a little bit noisy when it is running, but it only takes around 20-30 seconds, and the work will be done, and remeber it is a very well done job that the machine gives, my family loves it, beacause it has been providing a much better life for us since we own it.

I seldomly write reviews, but I feel indebted to the reviews I read on this product, they really helped me make my final decision. So I feel I need to do the same for future buyers in a gest to thank the earlier reviewers.

Ok, the product came, to my surprise, with the original VITAMIX box, I thought there would be an Amazon box added to it. Inside all is as I expected, a manual book, a tool for pressing the stuff down (I forgot the proper name).

This machine was a big investment for me, but afterward, I feel it’s totally worth it. Think about it, if you invest 1$ per day on your health, it’s a small investment, and in about two years, you’ll have the value back. I used it daily, literally. I love it! It works wonders for me, just the function I needed, I haven’t made any nut butter with it.

I spent lots of time comparing and hesitating between the classic 5200 model and this one, and finally, after reading all reviews on both, professional reviews, videos, I decided to go with this one. The decision was taken for the following reasons: the noise was smaller than 5200, and it’s a newer model, I trust the quality has made an improvement. The setback on 5200, is one reviewer of Amazon mentioned the smell of “burned” plastic. Also, a few loyal 5200 user said the new 5200 are not the same as the old ones they owned. I was really sold by 5200 at first because one reviewer said that it has lesser foam/ pulp, because it’s tall and slim, lesser air comes into the liquid. That is probably true, because I do get a bit of that with this model, but it doesn’t really bother me much. One solution is to add banana or avocado to the liquid, so it will be too thick and creamy, therefore no foam.

The noise is totally ok. I was prepared for worse, reading so many saying they are nosie. Comparing to my old blender, this new one is totally bearable. Besides, it’s only lesser than 1 minute. Anyway, I found it quieter than I had expected.
Very easy to clean. I don’t use soap. Just warm water, it cleans well. I never added any oily stuff into it, so water is fine. If you add dishwasher soap, then you have to rinse it, and it takes one more step.

I use it daily, at least once per day. I love how it changed my habit in fruit and green leafy consumption. Before, I find fruit preparation takes time. Now I make fruit smoothy daily, I add always a few kinds of fruits with baby spanish, and it makes feel good to drink something fresh and nutritious daily, overall, I am eating healthier, and drinking more liquid. This is the main effect on me, that I start to take liquid more regularly, comparing to before, drinking water was boring, and I often forgot to drink it all day long. Now it’s desirable to make something that looks nice, taste nice, and is nice to the body. I am aware that it shall not replace water, but it really compensates.

All in all, this is a great purchase. If one affordable product changes your lifestyle in a visible way, it’s this one. I strongly recommend it, this model is great, but if you prefer other models, go for it. You have to buy one that pleases your heart, cheers your mood, because you are going to use it daily.

This machine is AAAA-MA-ZING and everything that I’ve been searching for. I love juicing but didnt want to bother w/the mess that juicers can make. My kid loves smoothies and my mom loves soups! This machine does it ALL!! My first blend was coconut water, kale, spinach, cucumber, frozen avocado, apple, strawberry and banana. I blended just enough for my kid who prefers the smoothie texture. My kid does not like BANANAS or AVOCADO but loved this and finished it all!!! I placed the remaining ingredients back on the powerful base for the pureed texture that I like!!! This machine is EXTREMELY powerful and would take off if it had wheels lol!. I was a bit intimidating at first. I can honestly say it’s so simple to use and super easy to clean, even for beginners. I reccomend rinsing the container and or using the self cleaning mode immediately after blending for an easier clean. In other words, don’t let ingredients settle on the blades before rinsing/ cleaning. It was worth every penny and is a great addition to any kitchen!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I love this product so much! Six years ago I bought an Omega juicer from Amazon. I used it steadily for almost a year then stopped when it got to be too tedious preparing items for juicing. This Vitamix is so amazing, quick, efficient and easy. I love smoothies so that is all that I’ve used it for to date. But I’m having smoothies 2-3 times a day and losing weight. I’ve had a Cuisinart blender for about 15 years that is highly inferior to this machine regarding chopping ice. This self-cleaning, powerful machine is worth every penny. No chunks of ice! Perfectly blended! My husband is now a convert to smoothies. The noise is still quite loud but that’s the only slightly negative thing I can think of. Worked right out of the box, after cleaning and reading directions thoroughly. I highly recommend.

Of course, it’s a Vitamix. It’s capable, reliable and consistent. Two things bother me:
    1. Noise: especially when making soup. I am considering buying a soundproof case for it
    2. The machine moves on my counter: when blending for a long time, the machine moves slightly to the right. I will have to install some sort of base to stop it from moving. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share them with me.

I’ve had a Breville blender for the last decade or so. My biggest use is to make smoothies and iced drinks. I liked my Breville a lot but when it finally broke down I decided to “up my game” and get a Vitamix after a lot of research.

The vitamix blows me away. It has so much power it grinds ice cubes into slush with no problem (a task that my Breville did, but labored to do). The base of the blender is built like a tank. I also really like the automated “modes” which work really well. Here’s one gotcha… don’t buy the “extended” warranty because the manufacturer’s warranty is so long that even the longest “extended” warranty choice doesn’t actually extend it! (read the fine print!).

The one negative I’ll say about this blender (besides the really high price) is the “cleaning” aspect of it. A lot of people tout it and I’m not really sure why. Yes, there is a “cleaning” mode where you put liquid and dish soap into it, turn it on and it “cleans itself”. It’s kind of impressive parlour trick, but ultimately it’s kind of a pain in the behind. First you have to get the “bulk” out of it yourself, then you have to put exactly the right amount of liquid in there. Too much and it will foam out of the top and make a mess on your counter, too little and it won’t clean the top. But even after it’s “cleaned itself” you do have to do throw out the water and actually do some cleaning of it. Personally, for cleaning, my old Breville wins on this aspect. I could just throw it in the dishwasher and it would be perfect with no effort on my part. The Vitamix is not machine-washable.

I still love the vitamix though. Worth the high price (so far at least) and it really does expand what one can do with a blender.

This is a great piece of machinery and not our first vitamix. I have only positive comments to the functionality of the machine. The only factor I really struggled with is the poor packaging of such an expensive investment. You can see from the attached photos all the scuff marks on the vitamix on arrival and minor scratches. I was going to complain to amazon since I was convinced the item must have been used and reboxed, but then I looked at some unboxing videos online and saw that they had similar defects. The components should all really be protected within the packaging (often done with plastics, but many places now use other environmentally friendly solutions). My Advise would be to buy from a vendor where you can inspect the vitamix beforehand or simply be prepare to evaluate your vitamix on arrival and be prepared to send back.

Not easy to clean. I made the expense purchase expecting top quality. The plastic stains easy and can’t get the smell of peppers washed out. I got my blender today, excited to make hot sauce. No tomatoes were used. I think the blender is ruined for anything other than hot sauce.

I purchased this without my husband knowing because I know he’d be absolutely livid with the price. But it was a bit difficult to hide on the kitchen counter top, so I went with the next best alternative – I made him a smoothie and didn’t tell him the price.

He was in love. (With the Vitamix blender of course!) Soon after, I was making hot soups (yum!) and eating healthier. My kids sometimes want an ‘unhealthy’ smoothie which is mostly fruits – still better for you than a package of Oreos! I didn’t know it was possible, but my husband now uses the blender more than me. The quality is superier: the container is a thick plastic and won’t break, and it blends frozen fruit chunks with ease. The consistency is perfect, as there are no tiny chunks of foods such as spinach or seeds. And… I don’t know what I would do without the cleaning cycle.

I eventually told him the price. He wasn’t phased since he was already in love (with the Vitamix blender of course!).

It’s well worth the investment. Would I buy it again? YES! In fact, I did buy it again to give as a gift.

Sometimes it makes sense to buy the cheaper version of something, and sometimes it makes sense to splurge on the best. Vitamix is the best and worth every penny. It is an absolute beast at blending and built like a tank. I’ve probably doubled my daily intake of fruits and vegetables since buying this blender because it’s so effortless to make delicious smoothies in the morning. It’s also great for puréed soups or sauces, or for making ices and sorbet.
