Bummer, Moen, I really wanted your product to work as designed. But in only SEVEN light uses, the handheld’s on-off pausing switch’s/button’s plastic parts failed (as in, broke magnificently in my hand), including expulsion of a freshly kinked spring. Returning it wasn’t an option, as I’d purchased it more than sixty days prior to its installation, as part of my bathroom remodel. So I’ve limped along, occasionally reseating the remaining tiny parts but water dribbles out increasingly at higher rates, so I’m not saving on water and definitely don’t have a shutoff option with this current setup.

The magnet? – Not nearly as strong as the description insists. In truth, the handheld has to be gingerly manipulated to find the “best” position in which it *might* stay seated on the larger rain showerhead. But NOTE – finding said elusive position requires ongoing adjustment because the larger rain showerhead regularly moves about, not remaining in its installed position due to the plastic fitting adjustor. (YES, I know how to install shower heads and do most home repairs, therefore improper installation is not an appropriate justification for dismissing this paragraph.)

Moen – choosing to manufacture plastic tiny parts that are integral to the overall product’s proper functioning, while knowing such parts will rapidly fail, is poor practice and sadly has convinced me to avoid your products in the future.

Easy to install, straightforward operation, works like a charm so far (though I’ve only had this for about a week now). Bought it because the detachable showerhead would help make bathing my dog a little easier.

Only complaint, if you can call it that, is that it’s so much more attractive than the rest of my bathroom so now I feel like I need to upgrade my faucets and the shower curtain and maybe the floors and the lights and the walls and…

Update: I’ve had this for over a year now and can attest that it still works as great as when I first got it! Two minor complaints: there’s no way to change the angle of the main rainfall showerhead (but you can adjust the angle of the handheld spray), and (this is very minor) the position of the switch is counterintuitive – you push up to get water from the lower spray and down to get it on the upper one. Ultimately I just keep it on the handheld spray and it works fine for that purpose. Still as easy to clean and makes the rest of my bathroom look relatively decrepit!

When I unboxed this, I have to admit I was exceptionally disappointed. Shower heads are plastic. I expected so much better quality from Moen. The one reason I ordered was it has a metal hose (not a plastic one), and it does. I decided to go ahead and install the shower head because, quite honestly, I didn’t want to deal with the return. I figured I’d get some use out of it why I continued to look for another shower head. I have to admit to being completely surprised at how well this shower head works, and how much I genuinely like it.

I’m still disappointed in the materials but very pleased with large head and the settings on the hand held. I’m very glad I didn’t return it.

This is a good, not great shower head. Basically if you really like the magnetic release and 2-in-1 form factor, and you don’t want to spend a ton for something better build, this does the job well. This review is with the restrictor on. I don’t know why people want showeheads that can rip your skin off, but trust me this showerhead is fine with the restrictor in place. I love the rate – if the restrictor was off I’d be worried about my water bill.

    Pros:

It’s tall! The main head comes up over the tap, which I needed. I’m over 6 feet tall, and this is the first time in a long time that I can stand under the water without ducking my head. This is so nice for the taller person in your life, and the wand is still at the perfect height for shorter people.

Magnetic wand is great. No more fiddling with those weird mic stand style holders. My wife loves it, and I do too.

2-in-1 heads are great. The unit flips between the main head alone, both, and the wand alone. It’s great to have all the options. The wand even has an on/off button while the unit is set for both. It’s great.

The main shower head is great. It’s wide, and in single mode has great pressure – even with the restrictor. This is not a “rainshower” head though – a true rainshower head mists, while this is just a lot of streams. Great for most washing.

The wand has several modes. I wish it had a tighter focus as I love a good powerwash mode, but overall it’s pretty good. Goes from wide to spot sprays, and works well. Also has the on/off button as mentioned for quick switching.

Installation is a snap. Screws on to your existing spigot. I see some reviewers thought that shower heads would come with the pipe that comes out of the wall. That’s a really basic mistake, c’mon people, you have the internet. Google it. Don’t blame the manufacturer. You need to buy a much more expensive complete hardware kit to get those pieces.

Combined mode is luxurious. With both heads on and the wand set to a wide pattern, the area where they join makes me swear this can’t possibly be a water-saving head. Feels amazingly luxurious, and still meets modern efficiency standards. Very excellent.

    Cons:

Cheap plastic. There’s some plain plumber gray PVC in there, and most of the rest is plastic with nickel-plated finish. The wand is just barely worth what you pay, and only because of the magnetic features. Every single part is just barely worth what you’re paying. If you want good construction, pay a little more for a “real” set.

My wand’s on/off button doesn’t quite work. When the main unit is set to either both or want modes, the on/off button shuts off the wand partially. I’d guess it’s leaking at least a gallon an hour. Over a year that will add up. I might bother to mess with it eventually, but for now it’s not a major concern. I like my unit to be in “both” mode most of the time, so I can live with this is if I have to.

    Overall:

I’m replacing an old set that was left in my new house. While functional it was quite ugly and starting to leak. Compared to my old unit this has better flow, more options, and looks better. Plus I can actually stand upright. Overall I’m quite happy, and if I have to replace this in 5 years when the plastic fails, that’s fine for now. For my situation, this is one of the best options on the market. I’m mostly happy. 5 stars for the design, minus one star for cheap materials – including my wand button barely working.

This is a nice shower head, the magnetic head attaching mechanism is just strong enough, never falls off unintended. The shower head control allows you to switch between each head or use both, for a pretty nice shower. Flow is strong, much stronger than the Moen single-head it replaced. I liked it enough to buy a second for the guest bathroom.

I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 for the following shortcomings:
    1) The overall construction feels cheap and plasticky, especially the control knobs, but including the hose.
    2) On the handheld portion there’s a trigger to temporarily stop the flow of water, but it doesn’t completely cut off the water and it drips heavily (on both that I’ve purchased).

At a lower price point this is a 5-star shower head, but at what they charge it’s not as high a quality as one would expect

I stayed at a friend’s house for a weekend and she had this shower head and I loved it so much I had to have my own. I cannot believe I waited so long to replace my old rain shower head. My biggest concern was that I would need a new shower arm, but nope! Works perfectly with my 90 degree shower arm and the angle is almost exactly what I had with the previous rain shower head. You do have to choose the angle while hanging. It would be a pain to loosen and adjust the angle while showering, but that’s fine with me because I’m happy with the angle it’s at. One other thing is that at least for me with my water pressure and the angle I have it at, I can’t use the massage function of the hand held while it’s hanging. The pressure is too much for the magnet. That’s fine for me though, because there are two other settings to use while it’s hanging. Recommend leaving the water restrictors in first and testing it. I found they weren’t as restrictive as the one on my previous shower head and the pressure is perfect with them in. Buy Teflon tape separate and this is a 20 min install! Enjoy.

I timed the GPM as follows using a 3 gallon bucket.

My old shower head: 54 seconds = 3.3 GPM
No shower head: 30 seconds = 6 GPM
Moen 26009 Engage Rain Head only – with water restrictor: 85 seconds = 2.1 GPM
Moen 26009 Engage Hand Held only – with water restrictor: 105 seconds = 1.7 GPM

Moen 26009 Engage Rain Head only – without water restrictor: 53 seconds = 3.4 GPM

Excellent showerhead with plenty of spray options. Easy to install, easy to use. Maintains decent pressure though when both heads run, it’s a little weak out of the box. I recommend a bit of teflon tape on your shower arm thread – that’s easy.

The magnetic attachment is solid and not flimsy. A handy feature.

The locking nut which holds the head in place tightens but, the head still slowly moves and falls down. I have to readjust it from time to time.

I see people complain about the all-plastic design. What do you expect for the price point? It’s quite durable, looks good and provides good value for what it does. Good stuff.

With hose attached- water will be directed at wall in a small shower- If you mount it sideways- you can get water straight down.

I own both versions of this shower head (engage and attract). I originally got the attract version for our master. it was decent but water output wasn’t anything to write home about. Needed another one for our guest shower. Tried this unit as it has more gpm vs the attract.

Ended up putting this one in our master shower and the old one in the guest, as this puts out more water. It is a noticeable difference.

Only reason I’d recommend the other over this is if your concerned about water usage….

I replaced an old waterpik shower head with this, and I’m very happy with it. Installation was a breeze, and it works wonderfully. I removed the pressure regulator, and get awesome water pressure in the shower. The handheld shower head works great, and the ‘pause’ button is super handy when cleaning stuff, etc… would definitely buy this again.
