I am mostly happy with this screen. Good price and easy to install. It took my eyes a day or two to get used to the screen for some reason. Not sure what the problem was. The main thing I don’t like is that when it wakes up it takes a good 4 or 5 seconds, which for me is annoying as I have a KVM and switch back from work to person PC several times during the day. My old PC used to be 2 seconds at the most. I am learning to do things in a different order now so I am not sitting there waiting.

I use this for working from home. It is a decent monitor for my daily use. I wouldn’t say the picture is amazing to withhold anything spectacular in gameplay. There is only an HDMI port, no display port. I had to buy an adapter to hook up to my laptop.

This monitor is NOT 20″. It is 20″ inches diagonal if you include the bezel. The viewing screen is 19″ diagonal and 17″ across. If you’re trying to convince me that it’s 20″ aspect ratio or other industry lingo, I’m not buying it. As a consumer, if a monitor is supposed to 20″, I expect 20″ of viewing screen.

It is easy to hookup and the display quality is excellent. It came with the appropriate cord and tools needed to set it up. I’m just using it as a second monitor for work from home purposes, not for gaming. Yeah, adequate but I’m still miffed about the actual size. 🙁

This monitor has better quality than I anticipated but the built in speakers suck, other than that, it’s worth the amount that I paid for it.

Packaging was super, look and feel is slim and very nice and elegant. However the picture quality leaves a lot to be desired. Everything looks washed out and doesn’t pop like it would on another monitor, that’s too bad otherwise fit and finish is great

I love this screen. It was relatively inexpensive and I just use it as a second monitor for my Surface Pro 4. It does require an adapter for my Surface (HDMI or VGA) so make sure you purchase one as well if you intend to use it for that. I love it and the display is amazing.

This monitor is garbage. I don’t normally write reviews but this one has me abnormally aggravated due to my circumstances. I purchased this monitor to install in my portable PS4 case to take on deployment with me to occupy some downtime. Well, this monitor has robbed me of that. It continues to give me a white screen of death. It will do it on start up or sometimes when simply changing from game to video disc withing the PS4. This is with out touching any wires or moving it. I have even had it happen when I simply came out of a game to go to settings. I know it is not a connection issues because when I try to pull up it’s own onscreen menu that does not even come up. You can tell it tried because of a red bar on the top. I can hear the audio through the speakers but no video on the screen. Up until now unplugging it and plugging it back in repeatedly has worked. However, I have spent the last 2 hours doing this with no success.

I guess the reason I hate this monitor so much this very minute is because there is nothing I can do since i am deployed in a remote combat zone and the 30 day returt option is no real option and it will take me a month to get a suitable replacement. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

I recently bought this monitor because I was building a pc and needed a monitor to go along with it. I have not had nor used it for very long but so far it meets my needs and expectations. It is kind of a bummer that it didn’t come with an HDMI cable because my graphics card doesn’t support VGA, but I just stole one from my xbox 360 instead because I don’t use that anymore lol. Overall I really recommend this monitor for beginner gamers and people who are looking for a great monitor but not super big.

Nice monitor. works well. Sound is a little weak but I didn’t buy it for the speakers.
The best part of the monitor is the customer service. I thought I had installed the stand incorrectly (I didn’t) and wrote Sceptre. I got a prompt email back and a video. I still wasn’t satisfied with the angle of the monitor and wrote back. I got an email almost immediately explaining that I could angle the monitor by hand.
Great customer service to solve a silly, self-inflicted problem. Thanks, Sceptre!

This review is for the “(Sceptre 20″ 1600 x 900 75Hz LED Monitor 2X HDMI VGA Built-in Speakers, sRGB 99% Machine Black (E209W-16003RT Series) aka “20” 75Hz Wide Viewing Angle” monitor.
I got 2 of these for $115/ea. It was difficult to return them and go with two Samsung 1080p IPS 22” monitors instead. For some reason, the non-IPS screens (like these) have a hard time displaying an even black/gray screen. The pictures with the grayscale test have my very high-quality laptop monitor below them as a reference in each picture for what the black/gray screen SHOULD look like. The monitor is on the top of each picture and my laptop is below it. The laptop screen is mirrored on the Spectre monitor above it. These exhibit pretty bad “ghosting.” To be fair, it is not as bad in real life as the camera makes the monitor look. But I still found it too distracting to work with. Because the screen is always darker at the top than the bottom (regardless of viewing angle), it can be difficult to see vertical scroll bars because it fades from normal at the top to washed-out at the bottom. Googling information can also be difficult because the color change of a site you have already been to on Google is more difficult to see at the bottom of the screen than at the top. It is also harder to work in Excel because the grid lines are not an even shade across the entire screen. It is not horrible like the HP V20 HD+ 19.5-inch monitor. But it is still not great. I found it too distracting to work with as a home office monitor. There should be 6 pictures showing the different shades of black/gray mirrored off my laptop onto the Spectre 20” monitor. The monitor in the picture also has a bad pixel a few inches from the top left corner that you can see in the darkest pictures as green. I personally do not take off points because my specific product/item has a flaw/defect. Even the best manufacturers have products that pass quality control. So I simply mention it and let readers decide for themselves if it is too common of a problem for them to decide not to purchase it. I only give bad reviews for “systemic problems” that affect all of a product line like this. There are many different options for changing the brightness, tint, color, sharpness, etc. But unfortunately, because the screen is not even, if the top looks good the bottom looks bad and vice versa.

On the good side it does have some really nice features for the money. I will miss the dual HDMI ports and the speakers even though they’re not very good. But this allows you to plug in a Roku stick and watch/listen to TV while working on the other monitor if you have two (see picture). I also personally liked the size better than the 22” Samsung 1080p monitors I’m keeping. Two 22” monitors are a little big for my very small desk even when VESA mounted. The Spectre monitors are also VESA mountable which was another reason I purchased them. They come with screws that create a gap of about ¾” between the monitor and a VESA mount (see picture). I’m not exactly sure why they did this, but it does make it easier to access cables in the back and it was not an inconvenience for me. There are many different options for changing the brightness, tint, color, sharpness, etc. But unfortunately, because the screen is not even, if the top looks good the bottom looks bad and vice versa.

If you don’t have much money and these are on sale for $120 or less, it might be a monitor worth considering. But the one I opened to try/test had a defective pixel so I had to return it anyways. And I never opened the 2nd one because I decided I just couldn’t work with this monitor for most likely many years. The Samsung’s look fantastic straight out of the box without having to mess with screen adjustments. And I got them on sale from Amazon for $140/ea. For my needs, as a home office monitor(s), the Samsung’s are much better and worth the extra $25/ea. But the Samsung 22″ IPS monitors are normally $165+/ea. It would have been a more difficult choice if I had to pay full price for the Samsung’s.
