more than other devices in alexa i did have issues with lights.

I’ve noticed though several issues which i also think Alexa is partly to blame. For one smart home tends to get out of sync with the list of devices i have. if i start to change names. Also connecting each bulb to a specific alexa proved troublesome. They should use pointers or fix whatever is going on there.

So say you have an echo in key rooms, and a set of bulbs for each room or several subsets of bulbs for each room. It’s best in my experience that they connect to the same source/echo to be synchronous, and they are associated under a group that wasn’t the case for me, i had to micromange this by turning things off. I’d love to be able to have more control over this.

AFAIK these bulbs basically are slaves to alexa. I mean you can go get software from this company but i don’t see that being all that useful or meeting the use case a lot of people have. it counts on everything working between the two.

    scenarios tested/good
    – sets of bulbs per room
    – dimming
    – on off
    – to my eyes they seemed as bright as similar lumen bubs replaced.

missing. I’d like to say light turn on for 5 minutes. You can do it with code, but this shoudl be a default capability. For example in my laundry room i’d like this ability.

    issues

I’ve noticed that sometimes dimming goes to off though alexa but not the switch. I think it’s alexa though it happens at distance. I’ve also noticed that on off sometimes will not turn them all off. Protocal issues perhaps, i mean it seems like it should be treated as a proper transaction, with retries right or use reliable messaging. I forget the queue that you use on raspberry pies but liek that? it’s not common but be ready for some issues and be willing to work though them if you get more complex like i wanted to. it was a bit of a learning experience for me. We’ll see. I fear for people with no understanding of computer science getting this working above 90% reliability and if it stops working knowing what to do. In short you may need to reset stuff once in a while. I’d organinize your stuff accordingly. For example be willing to reset an echo, then my home groupings, my home and finally remove devices if all fails probably in that order. If this sounds like a lot of haslsle well i ‘m speaking to the folks that are noticing falkiness. Everyone has a differnet wifi network and echo topology house, walls etc. This is going to be an issue as these are currently designed. To be sure the mesh helps but can also hurt in my experience both in the bulbs and in your router.

If i were to want to make these better it would be to

    (1) improve the organization capabilities of the bulbs in alexa. I’ve seen cases where groups stop working and i think say a basement group doesn’t exist, and it wants to start working with living room. This is just an example of issues i’ve had. From a topology standpoint one should be able to register devices selected prefered alexas to connect to for the best/sync experience, and then design a home topology using my home. that uses live pointers to the underlying device topology. I think this si somethin glike what they are attempting to do, but it’s not always working correctly.

    (2) increase protocal reliability and durability

Case and point i got into a case where i had to deregister and reregister my alexa dot (i have many in my house). unplug them all, connect these bulbs to the specific echo dot, then test a couple of times, with my grouping, and only then turn on the other alexas.

I don’t think this is the default experience everyone will have, but i’ve noticed flakiness, and i’m basically expecting a decent percentage of the issue is alexa/echo combined with bulb inplementation. The thing is these are lights and we all expect them to turn on when we need them to. I really want to say you need to have at least a small amount of tinker mind set to go this route. it was just really important to me for a media room.

lastly, Where these lights are most likely to let me down will be durability. they claim a three year warranty. we’ll see. We all know most led bulbs are trash. I’m a bit worried about that. How much cost cutting has been done here and will this company be around in 3 years too.

I got these to pair with a cute geometric standing lamp. I love the look of Edison bulbs and was thrilled that it paired so easily with my Alexa. The only downfall is that these don’t get very bright, even at 100% it keeps the room very dimly lit.

Bright enough, works well with app, but Alexa control is limited thus 4 stars.

I thought that these lights would be great. They lasted for a few weeks and then lost connection and I can’t get them reconnected. I flipped my light on/off 3 times about 2 dozen times and they won’t go in to set up mode. Don’t waste your money on these lights. Big rip off.

The media could not be loaded.

Infinitely frustrating. Don’t do it. 4 hours wasted trying to get these to work.. and I give up. There’s no way to tell if I’m properly entering pairing mode or not because the documentation in the instructions and online is so terrible. I bought these and a smart hub and obviously now realize they don’t work together, but it doesn’t work with Alexa either which was advertised as supposed to work. No Bluetooth. The colors look nice when they flash for a moment when powering on, but then it’s just a normal bulb. I’m so disappointed.

One light bulb didn’t work, it would only do white, we use these often enough, but by the time we needed to replace a different one the return window had closed, buyer beware and buy your lightbulbs from a physical store!

These plugged in and worked with Alexa exactly as described. I have not had a single issue so far. They actually hav been working better then any bulbs I’ve tried that connect to alexa through a 3rd party app. Something gets lost once and awhile between the multiple program setup but so far these have been excellent. If anything changes I will update this review.
