I was initially attracted to the idea that these were specifically made to work through Alexa, basically using Alexa as their “hub,” without requiring another device. I do like no-hub required lighting solutions. Also, I was intrigued by the Bluetooth 5.0 BLE MESH technology that would theoretically make each “light bulb act[] as a range extender, enabling simple whole-home installations.” Their words not mine. Bottom line, you will get away with setting up 3-10 of these bulbs without connection issues, which require you to most of the time delete them from your devices in the Alexa app and re-pair them on a daily basis.
So pairing them is quite simple as these were designed to ONLY be used with a compatible Alexa device. I have several of these Skynet devices around my home and am familiar with adding and deleting devices. Simply screw in your bulb, go to add a device within in your Alexa app (you can do this via voice command, but it works better using the app), follow the on-screen instructions, and voilà. There some lights I had to attempt to add two or three times, but eventually they added successfully. I did this another 20 or 32 times.
I started running into issues when I added bulb 12 or so. Right after I added that bulb, every new Bluetooth bulb started indicating that it was unresponsive within the Alexa app. I tried giving my voice commands and nothing happened. At this point, I turned off the light switches to the affected lights, waited about a minute, turned them back on, and one by one they started working again. I though it was maybe just a small glitch. I also decided at this point to see if I would have any issues over night with the bulbs I had already installed.
The next day, all the lights were working fine to start the day. Late that day, I continued replacing the remaining bulbs in the house. Every couple of bulbs, would repeat the issue I had the day before. At first, it was one or two lights, but it progressed to all the lights becoming unresponsive. Turning off the light switch didn’t work any more. I had to unplug all my Alexas, wait one minute, and then plug them all back in. That was not going to be something that I was adding to my daily routine. The point of automation is to make life a little more convenient. Therefore, I started putting in my old Wi-Fi bulbs. Once the connected Bluetooth bulbs was reduced to about 10, they all started working pretty well again. In fact, I do have 4 of the Candelabra Bluetooth bulbs that are still connected and have not had a single connection issue in weeks.
This product is TWO-STARS because the bulbs themselves are relatively easy to setup and seem to pair well with Alexa devices (so long as you don’t pair too many), but after that they fall short on all other claims. Most importantly their most repeated claim in the listing is that due to their BLE MESH technology that you will able to install these bulbs throughout the entire home. Based on my experience, this would only be true if your house needed 10 or less of these bulbs to provide lighting throughout the entire home. I personally have returned to using my Wi-Fi bulbs that I was using previously and have never been happier. Ultimately, these bulbs are extremely limited.

I have expended two and a half hours trying to connect the bulbs to my Echo dot. I have been chatting with Alexa chat as well. Utterly frustrating.
It is not the three steps as written on the box. You must enable the skill. To do that you have to download the Sengled app (one and a half star app)
Create an account (if you can find out how) Sign in if you are lucky enough to get the damn account, and then enable the skill.
Back to the Alexa app….and so it goes. I will give it another shot…tomorrow. I am exhausted.
As of right now it would be foolish to give this any more than 0 stars.

I installed 5 of these lights. 1 of them works as advertised. The other 4 are always unresponsive. They are fine as regular lightbulbs, but nothing “smart” about them.

On the Sengled box it states you have two options to connect your bulbs: Alexa or Sengled App. I don’t have Alexa so I tried the second option for about an hour. I worked on it and worked on it; even tried downloading the Alexa app to see if I could get it to work that way…no success. I finally went through the Q&A on the enclosed pamphlet included in the box and it states: “1. Can I use Sengled app to set up and control my Bluetooth bulb? Answer: Not now, at this point. Sengled Smart Bluetooth bulb only works with Alexa app.” So why on the box does it say to use Sengled App as an alternative to Alexa but the Q&A in the box says Sengled App will not work? Your guess is as good as mine. So if you don’t have Alexa, DO NOT purchase this bulb or you will be in a world of frustration!

I’m an engineer. My house is filled with smart home devices and other smart bulbs. I have no issues with anything else. These bulbs? Unreliable to the max.
The good… nice colour range and brightness. Easy to connect to Alexa.
The bad… they don’t remain connected. They quickly get “device error” or “device unresponsive”. And yes Sengled, I followed all the right requirements… 1. Not in an enclosure; 2. No interference (all my other devices work well… both wifi and Bluetooth); 3. Rebooted the Alexa device it’s connected to which is 10 feet away.
I have other bulbs from other overseas suppliers on Amazon that work with the Smartlife app. They’re wifi bulbs and I have 20 of them around the house. Never an issue for over a year. Your Bluetooth mesh tech sucks. I suspect your own bulbs interfere with each other.

Super easy install. Worked great with my Amazon alexa echo device.
Ended up buying 3 more. 1 didn’t work out of the box. As in, light wouldn’t turn on even.
The other 2 worked great. Installed easy. After 30 days they dropped off the alexa Bluetooth mesh thing. I can’t re connect them manually or through the App
Waste of money. Use a smart plug from a known brand instead.

These Bluetooth mesh bulbs are terrific. You don’t need to download an app to operate them – they integrate perfectly with Alexa. Very easy to install. I did have a bit of a glitch in programming two bulbs that were located close together (on either side of a couch) – one set up perfectly, the other would not. Simply moved the bulb further away, re-set it and it worked fine. Very happy with purchase.

In spite of carefully following the installation instructions in the box, then on the app, then with support, they just refused to connect. Incredibly frustrating.

Have used other wifi lights before and the work great. These don’t connect easily and ever since installing one I have had my echo dot go offline and weird other wifi issue. Would be great if Amazon would allow a return within two months. Not impressed.

Does what it’s supposed to very bright light . Easy to connect to Alexa app. Used in front porch. And back yard deck. Very bright light will Get more . Will only buy blue tooth mesh to Alexa only . If it doesn’t say Bluetooth don’t get them . Bluetooth easy-to-use set up . Than you can turn Bluetooth off and they still work with Alexa.

These are the best light bulbs I have bought! Just screw them in, ask Alexa to find the bulb and you’re done other, than naming the location.
UPDATE: These lasted about a week then wouldn’t work with Alexa and couldn’t reconnect. I returned them and got a second set that did the same thing within a couple days. Returning this set too for a refund!

Don’t waste your time or money. Stopped responding to Alexa after a few days. I had another one for a few weeks that also stopped responding. I tried all the trouble shooting recommendations but still not working

…I’ll know it was that Alexa got sick of me asking her to turn on and off lights.
First: this is 5hz. I had to return previous 2.5 hz lights. You need to check your router/modem signal first.
Most important: I never knew what a lifechanger this would be. The more I use them, the more I love. After ordering these I ordered 8 more immediately (no joke). I dont even have an additional 8 lights in my house but I no longer want to run out.
One keeps falling off the signal, but outside of that they are awesome.
The idea of having bulbs I cannot control with my voice after this is incomprehensible…wait, yeah. Rise of the machines will get me for sure 🙂
