Spent over 3 hours trying to get this to work with my phone and couldn’t get it connected. Before buying have a look at the Sengled app rating which also shows that lots of people have issues with this light bulb. I even emailed Sengled’s customer support for help and have never received a response back, another clear sign it’s not a good idea to buy anything from this company. I ended up purchasing the Phillips Wiz multicolour LED lights. Far better and you get 3 for the price of 1 Sengled bulb. No issues at all setting up the Wiz bulbs and a really easy to use app.

Easy to install and is working great. I was originally worried because of some of the one star reviews. Before putting it into the light fixture I did take a picture of the back as it has a QR code, a MAC address and another address I don’t remember the name of; didn’t need either of them, it connected easily from the instructions provided. I did notice, when I first plugged it in and turned it on it did not recognize the password, I reset it by turning it on and off 5 times like on the instructions, and from there it let me install without any other problems. I chose it because it did not need a hub and I only need one light in the room, it seems I was close enough to the router because it was able to connect but that is something I saw in other reviews that makes a lot of sense to be a possible problem since the wifi card in this little thing probably isn’t very good. If you are going to have many of these you should probably get the hub.

I got this bulb just to add some mood to the lighting. It’s not plug-and-play with Alexa Plus, like the pure white bulbs are, You have to create an account with a company in China and register them, giving bunch of your personal information, before they are remotely activated. Conditions of my employment would be violated if I do this, so it came down to some mood lighting or paychecks. I wish things were different.
Don’t think I’m China-phobic. I’ve been to six different regions in China. The people there are the friendliest, warmest and most giving people you will find anywhere. Very honest, very family oriented. Many of them don’t like some of the things their government does, but that sounds just like home, doesn’t it?

The media could not be loaded.

    UPDATE
I hate these f@ing bulbs. You better have a lot of patience dealing with the constant loss of connection and resets. Took mine all out and gave them away.

Well first of all there is the issue of all the lights coming on after a power outage, yes this supposedly a safety feature but real annoying when they all come on in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep.
Apparently there is a now after lots of complaints a way to reprogram the bulbs after updating the firmware. But it is complicated and I haven’t figured it out yet.
Second problem, after the power outage some but not all bulbs lose their wifi connection and have to be deleted and reprogrammed.
So over all the are more annoying than they are practical.

I have updated my review because of the requirement for a “positive review” to receive a free product from them. it’s unethical and amazon should not allow the practice.

It’s a huge decision figuring out which smart bulbs you want to buy, because you’re probably stuck with them/the brand for a long time!! So I did my research on what I thought were the best/least expensive brand and decided sengled was “good enough”

I went for the wifi option without a hub so everything is connected directly to my router. I currently have 10 lights hooked up to my router.

I got my bulbs on sale for 20.99

Installation went very well! Took me about 20 minutes to set up 10 bulbs. I downloaded the app, plugged in the bulb. Added each bulb and each bulb took about 30 seconds to a minute to fully connect. I had to reset a few bulbs which all you have to do is turn the light switch on and off 5 times really fast. It worked, but I could see how that could be annoying for some people if you accidentally reset or if you only want to reset one bulb, you’ll reset all of them hooked up to the switch. I wish you could connect multiple bulbs at once, but you must do them individually, and it’s actually easier to plug in one at a time.

Connectivity. My Router is definitely a top model router, so I wasn’t expecting any issues with connections, but I still find them to be a tiny bit spotty. 99% of the time they work the way I want, but sometimes the light’s won’t do what I ask right away unless I turn them on and off or wait a while. This is something I’ll need to wait and see how they perform.

One other thing I’ve noticed is you’ll experience a bit of lag time when you turn your switch on to when the lights decide they will turn on. I think they turn on, connect to the router, then decide what color and if they should be on or not. It’s about a quarter second or so, but it’s not instant like non smart bulbs. When multiple bulbs are connected to the same switch, each bulb will act independently and it can be weird having very slight variations in the timing of each bulb turning on. The off switch is instant though.

Functionality of the bulbs is pretty solid. They have virtually infinite colors, 100 brightness options 1%-100%. It’s really fun messing with the colors and brightnesses. Each color can be different brightnesses as well. You can group bulbs in rooms, set timers, different color coordinations with scenes, wake up mode and sleep mode. The only ones that I’ll want to use is the different scenes.

I had hoped to see a rainbow/color changing option just to show off the bulbs or have some fun with them, but there is no such option I could find. I hope sengled adds this option to the app at some point.

I don’t have a lot of experience with other smart bulbs, but I’m pretty happy with my purchase. They are fun, pretty easy to set up and work overall pretty well even with 10 bulbs connected in 3 different rooms.

If you get the wifi bulbs I don’t think there is any option to connect to your google home or alexa. You need the hub if you want to do that.

It would take a really long time to actually save money on electricity with the bulbs. These are more fun than money saving, but the app does show how much electricity each bulb has used, and I thought that was a pretty fun addition to the app. My previous bulbs were very hot to the touch, hot enough to burn my fingers. These get warm near the base, but are basically room temperature everywhere on the bulb.

I purchased 2 of these bulbs. I am an IT Professional, so I know what I’m doing. I also have 7 LIFX bulbs in my house. The Sengled bulbs randomly disconnect and reconnect to my home WIFI. My router is literally 5 feet from the bulbs, and all my other devices work just fine. You just never know if they are going to respond or not. When they do respond, they’re great. The colors are vibrant and, although not the brightest, are still bright enough. But having a bulb which leaves you wondering if it’s going to work every time you want to change its state is just not a good thing. These are currently about 1/2 the price of similar LIFX bulbs, but they only respond about 1/2 the time, so I guess it’s true that you get what you pay for. I wish I could return these.

UPDATE 3/10/21: I emailed Sengled and told them of the problems I was having. After (I’m not making this up) 56 days of delays, replies, more questions, and silly suggestions, they finally refunded my money. Yes, persistence paid off, and in the end, it cost me nothing. But, I stick by my 1-star review since the product does not work as expected, and the Sengled Customer Service Team makes Comcast look good. (Yes, that’s a major insult!) Steer clear of Sengled Bulbs.

Cannot get this to connect. I have a Smartthings hub with about 30 devices under its control……
    Locks, sensors, bulbs, etc.
This device refuses to pair, even after rigorously following the reset/pairing instructions.
I have tried to register with the sengled app so as to try pairing that way. I get as far as inputting the emailed verification code. After that the “next” button in the app remains dimmed. Nowhere to go. I’ve restarted my iOS device anD re installed the app. Same result.
I emailed Sengled support. No reply.
I tried the Smartthings Marketplace instruction manual. It mentions a reset button on this bulb. Mine does not have a button.
    Update May1
The company tried to refund me but wanted me to delete the review first. I declined
