Background for this purchase.
I own a P71 Ford Crown Victoria. It has been through three batteries in the last three-plus years. During that time. I have purchased three auto battery charger/maintainers. I have been told that because of all the electronics in these cars that many municipalities charge the battery when they are not on patrol. I have also been told that it may have an intermittent short.
The heat sensor does not work when the battery is low. This prevents the air conditioning from working and it affects the way the onboard computer works causing all kinds of trouble. However, every time I have purchased a new battery the heat sensor works for a few days and all is well. Which is why I purchased battery chargers. As I was hoping it would relieve the problem if I hooked up the charger when the car is parked at home. And while this did help a little. The problem persisted but the sensor would be a problem on my way out in the morning but had few problems on the way home.
Then I watched a video on how many amps you need to properly charge a large car battery. In my case, I needed at least 10Amps. And the highest I had purchased prior only charged at 4.3Amps.
So after much looking and reading many reviews. I found what I thought had the best price to positive review ratio which was the Schumacher SC1282 10A.
I have used it now for only three days. In those three days. The heat sensor has never gone out and the dash lights are much brighter.
I wish I had purchased the Schumacher SC1282 10A years ago. it would ahve saved me a lot of money and time.

This 10A charger is so very simple to use, simply hook up the clips to the battery plug it in to power and push the start button. The charger does everything else, even if you have the clips hooked up on the battery the wrong way it won’t work/spark or ruin anything. I have used this on my riding lawn mower battery, tried it on both vehicles batteries and even two 6v batteries in line on a golf cart. This charger worked on all the batteries flawlessly, and then if you leave it hooked up overnight it keeps the battery topped off and fully charged. The size is very nice, easy to store and only weighs a pound or so. This is a great charger that is very user friendly and when needed should do the job and not break the bank. Hope this helps!

I had borrowed one of these from a friend and was impressed enough to buy two of my own. One for my garage and one for my shop area. Easy to use and has an alarm light if your battery has any kind of fault. Only negative comment is that the information that comes with it is not in english but french. Charger is made in China so I assume this batch was supposed to go to France, not the U.S. No star for “warmth” as that doesn’t seem to apply to a battery charger that doesn’t get warm.

Shipped in the box that the charger is packed in from the factory. Should be repacked in a SHIPPING BOX..Unit was bent and banged up. It works..but. I like my stuff to be and look new when I pay full price for it. Totally unacceptable.

I’m old so take that in consideration of my review. I like physically pushing a switch to indict on / off. This is all electronic and placed charger on my truck battery all night. Light was green indicating I assumed, it was charging. Wrong…no instruction inside box. Wore up to a dead battery still. Pushed on/off button this time and led light was yellow, which to me is “caution” something wrong, is why I clicked it back to green last night. It would be helpful if an led light would light up indicating “charging” or better yet, a on/off switch. I like my old Schumacher but after 20 yrs it finally gave out. Maybe me leaving it out in the rain for week had something to with that?

It worked ok when used it the first time.
The second time, it was charging 20.2 volts. Luckily I was monitoring it with my voltmeter. If I didn’t monitor it, it could have fried my battery and my complete electrical system.
Returned it.
Recommend not using this product.

… with none of the high-tech battery saver features that let you forget you hooked it up for a day or two (until it rains – which is why I was in the market). This one will overcharge a small battery but is just the thing for my diesel battery that needs an hour of topping off in the winter, or for 5 minutes on my lawnmower’s little battery.

If your battery is really low, it will not charge it !!! the inteligent charger says bad battery… it work only on batteries that are already charged ! so why do you need a charger
My HF cheap one charge my old cars battery and get my car back on the road without issue.
this one is a piece of junk, designed by dummies who never had a battery goes low in voltage

I purchased this unit because the ease of use.
You plug it in and hook it up to your battery. You can walk away and forget about it. There is nothing to set. It does all of this for you. All you need to do is push the stop start button.
It will alert you if your battery is bad or if the connectors are connected backwards.
Once the battery is charged it will maintain it as long as it is still connected.
Im also looking to replace my roll around charger and will do so with one of their larger units.
