This is a baggy shirt, but the material is very thin and comfortable. I’m pretty average for medium at 5′ 8″ and 170 lbs, but this shirt seems like it was made with a taller person in mind. When the sleeves are rolled up and secured, they hang a couple inches below the bend of my elbow which isn’t preferable to me. Although this oversizing does seem to be standard with all the button downs I’ve ever tried on from Columbia. I would downsize, but the small is just too little for my body. With a little deet, it did a superb job of keeping mosquitoes away in Africa during the wet season (no malaria for me!).

Tela muy fresca, especial para climas calientes, el diseño también muy padre. Súper buen precio y el envio rápido para ser de USA. Muy recomendable, también pedí la color blanco. Yo pedí la talla M, no vienen tan amplias como las de pesca.

Ordered 5 of these shirts in different color. I love them. They run a little big, so I’d say to size down. I normally wear a large, but in these I wear a medium.

Fit: I’m 6′ 170, normally a medium is snug and a large is loose, but both are wearable. This shirt runs so large that the medium is almost unwearable. Medium in Columbia’s featherweight hike is almost too tight – don’t know why the sizing isn’t at least internally consistent.
Weight: 6.3 oz med. on my scale.
Quality: Stitching, materials pass inspection, inspire confidence in durability.
Performance comparison: Better in the heat than the featherweight hike; I guess venting > UL construction. In terms of comfort and wearability it’s pretty on par with ex officio’s airstrip, although the latter has better venting and more bells and whistles (extendable collar with turtleneck button, adjustable back vent, underarm vents, security pocket, utility strap, pen slot) some of which I’d be keen to see added to the silver ridge. The sleeve tabs are tedious to button, passing through a loop and returning to the tab, but I guess the loop is for a cleaner look.
Appearance: One of the better looking hiking button downs. Maybe the best balance of features and appearance for going from trail to town.

2/28/2018 Edit: Updating to share the actual measurements of the Size Medium shirt. Neck: 18″ | Sleeve: 35″ | Chest: 45″ | Waist: 44″ . Compare those actual measurements to Columbia’s sizing chart for size Medium Casual Shirt: Neck: 16-16.5″ | Sleeve: 34″ | Chest: 38-41″ | Waist: 33-35″.
So the sizing is WILDLY inaccurate by Columbia’s own measurements. This is a QC problem, basically the size labels were sewn onto the wrong shirts. In other words the Medium is really the Large and so on. I am returning the Medium and have a Small on order (which is insane because I wear a size Large t-shirt.)
Original review: I got the size Medium and it is big on me. I am 5’10” 180lbs and wear a 16-33 dress shirt and these sleeves come down to my 2nd knuckle with my arm straight. I believe they are measuring out to 35 or 36 when the chart specifies 34. The neck measures out to 18 when the chart says 16. I think I should try on a size Small but that makes little sense because I wear size Large shirts. The body is long but fits pretty well with lots of room to spare, it is not slim fit in any sense.
I really question the manufacturer’s sizing, the measuring tape shows this shirt to be a lot larger than specified on their chart.
I love the color and pattern and the fabric feels nice. Will update the review if durability is an issue.

For a shirt designed for hot weather, this is not very breathable. You can put your mouth against it and try to blow air through, it’s like a plastic bag. But it is a very nice cut, looks amazing, and super light weight, so that’s nice. Just don’t expect something that will allow you to sweat and breathe.

I used this at Disney for a little added warmth in the cool mornings and for some additional sun protection. It is very thin so it packed down small into my lumbar pack when not being used. It works well as a sun blocker but it is warmer than not wearing anything (obviously). Now that we are back from Disney, I intend to use this as sun protection while fishing.

So it’s a very nice shirt, exactly what you’d expect… except for some reason it is open in the back as a flap. I don’t know what most people are doing with this shirt, but if you’re around bugs you do not want an open back like this. The shirt is already so positively diaphanous I can’t imagine the breathability being seriously that much better, anyway. So caveat emptor, although overall a great shirt (and you can just sew the flap shut).

I bought two of these shirts for their sun protection claims. I’m a little disappointed by the slippery fabric; they feel like smooth plastic with no texture to speak of. And they look rather shapeless. Here’s hoping that I come to like them. Time will tell whether I actually wear them or not.

I normally wear an XL in shirts, but heard that these run large, so I bought a Large and a Medium (because I’ve been losing weight and wasn’t sure what size to get)…the medium fits perfectly, and the large is a bit big. The length on these is fantastic. I’m fairly tall, which means that some shirts fit short on me. Not these! They’re great. I’ll be buying a few more.

Size wise this is cut at least a full size bigger than other shirts. Order a size down and you should be good to go.
I’m 5’10 165lbs (34 waist) and a Medium fits me with enough room to have a t-shirt on under it. It fits me as loose as a Large would in other brands.
Function wise though it dries fast and wicks the sweat away fantastically even with a pack on.
