I’ve had plenty of light duty FR jackets for FRACTIONS of the price of this that held up for years. I’m still rocking a miller jacket comprised of cotton and nylon that I got almost 4 years ago. That jacket has seen 6010 roots in pipe, 7018, 5/32 rod sizes of both of those mentioned earlier, heavy flux core welding, and oxy torch cutting and gouging and despite some holes and rips and tears, I’m only just now looking to replace it. I actually purchased this jacket back in december to do just that. Within a week of treating it like the other jacket, (which was 20, 30 dollars cheaper when I bought it) it was rendered almost useless. I can’t even weld the lightest duty flux core welds without smelling this thing practically on fire.
This jacket is more or less just what it says it is; a work shirt. Don’t use it for welding and I probably wouldn’t wear it for oxy or plasma gouging. CERTAINLY not for arc gouging. Maybe some light duty plasma cutting and oxy cutting at the most, or if you’re working around hot materials. But even then, I’d recommend the Miller work jacket because as said above it can handle much more than this one can, for about 20 bucks if not 30 bucks cheaper.
One things for sure though, it’s flame retardant. Might smoke, but it never caught fire. That’s the only reason I gave it 2 stars and not one. I think it’s just a glorified FR shirt, with a little too much emphasis on the FR.

The fit, stitching and material is excellent as expected from a Wrangler product. The description is accurate the Size selection can be tricky but thanks to Amazon return policy it wasn’t an issue I would worry about. I use it for work, since it is FR rated it is an essential piece of clothing required in the Oil and Gas industry.

The waist is very very wide. I ordered a medium, I’m 5’7 180. I could still wear this if I was 250 pounds

The shirt works OK. Did not meet my expectations I have had better quality shirts however it does hold up decently against light heat. I use it around like welding. However grinding sparks have gone through the shirt reason being it did not meet my expectations I have had better quality Fire resistant shirts.

Button holes are too tight. If I need to remove, heated conditions, after work, or flash over, very tough. SHOULD BE SNAPS.

I’ve worn these shirts for the past couple of years for work, and they are great. They are alittle long, which is nice when you tuck them in your pants, they don’t pull out as much as others do. They do run big, and they don’t shrink much. The material has held up great working in the oil fields, buttons haven’t broke or come off, and the shirt stays buttoned pretty well. Over all one of the best work shirts I’ve bought and worn, and I work 70 hours a week in them.

I ordered a tall because my arms are longer than what most shirts cover. The sleeves shrank way too much after the first washing. The cuffs are very tight for the size. I’m not happy with how it fits after I washed it. I’ll stick to Ariat or Carhartt.
