Product works as described, was able to start a fire using this striker and a cotton ball in no time. Downside is, this product is tiny, like really tiny, very hard to operate with one hand. I’ve added this product to my survival kit as an alternative to ferro rod and Bic lighter.

From someone who is quite an outdoor enthusiast this thing is fantastic. With that given I’ve use hand and stick, knife and magnesium stick, regular lighters for starting fires. This thing cut down the time to get a good ember, in a package that is much easier to utilize. Having the right tinder in every situation is pretty crucial as well. But using knife and magnesium stick requires delicate motion in order to not smother the ember you’ve just created. The rotating spark wheel allows you to spark near your tender without destroying it or moving it too much. Dry lint works great with this, as well as dry grass. Overall for as inexpensive and easy as it is I am definitely grabbing another. Came in its water tight tube with 3 extra flints, also sealed in their own bag, and two packs of tinder.

Waterproof fire starting in a small package – I love it. I tested this as soon as I got it. I frayed the end of the tinder and lit it with one turn of the striker wheel…easy as can be. I tested the striker on a cotton ball, a makeup remover pad, and some fire cord – it worked perfectly with all of them. There is plenty of room in the canister for more tinder. Perfect backpacking or emergency kit item. I bought more.

Absolutely love it! Wish it came with more tinder to experiment with but that’s fine. The container is watertight and the wheel throws sparks easily. It comes with extra Flint which is awesome!

Bought it and left it in my hunting backpack, my only gripe is I wish it came abit bigger like say a standard sized BIC lighter. I tried it and was surprised to see how quickly it lit up a fire in the firepit.

This striker is a reasonable alternative to ferro rods etc. It holds what you need to get a fire going in a very compact, WATERPROOF package. You can clip it on just about anywhere on a pack or your clothing so that it is handy when needed. If throws a reasonable spark but not like a Fire Steel or Light My Fire type of striker. However it is not billed as such so no exorbitant claims or misleading hype. Disappears in the glove box or console until needed. I feel that it is an excellent backup when creating a redundant fire starting system.

I saw a review online about this and figured I’d give it a try. I opened it up, grabbed a cotton ball and fluffed it out a bit. The first try lit it on fire. I think as long as your tinder is dry and thin, you shouldn’t have problems using it. Would it be the first thing I would use to start a fire? No, but in a emergency and it’s all I had, I’d definitely be able to start one with it. It’s so small and compact that it’s easy to carry as a back up in your EDC.

Works great and able to use the flints from all the empty lighters that I saved to use on rope lighters or char.
The only problem with it is that it is almost impossible to use with 1 hand. I really hope their next version is almost the length of the canister so then could spark in one hand easily.
I have a rope Lighter (see photos), but got this kit so I can make own rope lighters by using lengths of cotton tubes.
Rope lighters use 100% cotton or natural materials. This summer I am going to twist a d reverse wrap my own natural cordage from nettles, milkweed, cedar, etc (nothing poisonous).
But braided cotton that is 100% cotton (read reviews because some company’s lie). Char the end first on rope you buy, or natural ropes you make. Twisted cotton is not that great, buy braided. 1/4 inch a little small. Best to buy 5/16 (8mm) 100% cotton rope at Walmart or on amazon if you can find it.
To buy rope Lighter that I got, look up “rope Lighter” “Shepherds Lighter” on amazon.. The lighter better then the ball and hook one that constantly needs adjusting. This one better because it closes and extinguishes coal.
As I said, sparker is a little small, best to use two hands. I may order longer flint wheel sparker that I saw on Amazon.

My only problem is the sparker. I have big hands and it is very small. The small size makes it very hard to hold steady and work the wheel with one hand. The container is good and holds a good supply of tinder. The tinder is a lot harder to ignite than I thought.

Awesome little kit for starting fires when camping. Seals up tight and it is water proof. Used this for a camping trip to start the fire, and it worked perfectly. Love how small it is, it fits easily in the backpack. I think I’ll buy one for the car, just to have a spare.
