Hazardous. Blade does not lock in securely. If you fidget with the release it will lock in but if you grabe the blade you can easily wiggle it out. Low quality, made in China (per sticker on box).

This box cutter is surprisingly well made and fits great in the hand. The mechanism that holds the blade in place is simple but solid, and it’s easy to use. I’m really satisfied with this purchase.
Follow up: Just want to add that the company that sells this knife is offering a $15 Amazon gift card for a five-star review. I had no problem with giving the five stars, as I genuinely do think it’s a great little knife. However, they never followed through with the gift card. I still like the knife, but I’m not so sure about the company behind it.

I must retract my initial 1 star due to the fact that I did not understand how this box cutter folds back into position. Well! After reading the several comments, it’s the DEMOLITION BUTTON THAT DOES IT NICELY…. By simply holding it in your right hand, and with your thumb, press it to your right, as you are holding the blade portion and bringing it back to a folding position! I love it! You will too.

It has every bit of the sturdiness portrayed in the photos. It has a great system to prevent unintended folding of the knife/boxcutter, but it would be even better if the same system to prevent unintended opening. It would then be child safe.
