The 2021 Ring Floodlight Security Camera is an excellent product. The phone App is smart and intuitive. The camera captures movement and sound day and night. Camera includes speaker for sound and Mic for communication. Use the phone App to communicate. View the videos using the Phone App. The Security Camera is hard wired for power and uses WIFI for internet. This Security Camera has many features. Functionality includes setting motion zones on the App screen to trigger video capture and setting separate motion zones to trigger turning on the flood lights. Notifications sent to the phone. Turn on and off the lights remotely and manually using the App if desired. Turn on and off the siren remotely and manually using the App if desired.

This was my second Ring floodlight, and I bought the upgraded Pro. The first one works fine, but I am not convinced they will last. The plastic housing does not seem terribly tough, but time will tell. Connecting the Pro was horrific; the system didn’t recognize the QR code, and wouldn’t allow a manual connection. After 2 hours on the phone with support, it finally worked. The final issue is that the lights seem to turn themselves on periodically, and not because of motion. In the middle of the day, I will open the app, and one of the lights will be on.

I have 2 Ring security and camera, doorbell setup and… its HORRIBLE! The wifi connection at 6 Feet away from wifi Eero mesh network which is supposed to work better in tandem with ring devices is hardly ever acceptable.

Just 2 minor problems i have found. When i get notified there is movement on my camera, by the time i click on the app and it opens, movement has already gone by. I need to close the live video and look at the previous video on history to see what the movement was. A bit frustrating.
Also, unless object is directly in front of camera, video is not clear when you make the video bigger to see a person. Unable to see what the person looks like. Other than that this work great

Buyer beware! I can’t believe PC support is gone for new devices… “As of February 17, 2021, Ring’s Windows and Mac and desktop apps are no longer receiving updates for new devices and features.”

I ordered 4 of these to replace my floodlights. I paid to have them installed. Guess what?! If there is a power interruption you must push a button on the installed cam light to reset it. Ummm. I’m almost 70. I cannot possibly get on a ladder and climb 20 feet times 4 to reset these lights. Had the power switch not been flipped when the cams would not initially set up, we might not have known this until it was past the 30 day return. This physical button is a known major issue according to the several courteous Ring service reps. It has cost me $600 for labor to install/uninstall these. Unless you have easy/safe access, you may want to wait til they resolve this reset issue.

When we started getting car breakins in my neighborhood, I installed the Ring Floodlight Cam to help police catch the thieves. It works great, and I love it. Still, I would suggest a few improvement just in case the Ring dev team happens to read this:
    1) I’m assuming that Ring Protect Plus is using AWS cloud services. If that’s the case, your orchestrator needs work. Sometimes, I’m only able to access a very limited number of saved motion alerts. The problem clears up later which makes me think that you’re spinning up storage to meet demand….and it’s slow. I could be wrong, and the microservices might be glitching but it feels like a scalability issue.
    2) I’d like to be able to set different alerts for different motion zones. I want to capture every car that goes down my street (for aforementioned car thieves) and then capture people in my driveway. If this is already possible, I haven’t figured out how to make it work yet.

Those 2 little things aside, this is a solid product and I hope it stands the test of time and weather because it’s already captured pictures of 2 cars involved in break-ins in my neighborhood.

The floodlight camera itself works the same as the others I own and I have no complaints on it. The issue I have is that Ring has removed the ability to use the PC Ring App to connect with this new camera. What this means is that the only way to connect to the camera is via the phone app or Ring.com. The phone app works fine, but if you are like me and would prefer to have the cameras show on your computer screen during the day when you are on the phone you can no longer do this. The ring.com interface does not show a live view of the camera, only historical information. This issue applies to several of the new products so beware if you normally use the PC app, it is no longer of use.
