    Curtain Rods: 1″
Curtain Style: Grommet – 2 pc curtains – one closing to each side, operating by 2 curtain bots in total

I had purchased this product with high hopes after seeing the positive ratings! I have double rods and would need 4 of these for just one window ($400+) so started by purchasing two just for the outer / primary curtain. Here are the sequence of issues:
    1) Upon installation (which was relatively easy), realized that the bots were getting stuck on the telescoping joints of the rods. Each bot has to pass through 1 such joint every time it opens / closes.
    2) As suggested, I installed the metal piece (as pictured here) to bridge the gap. Firstly, as you can see – that looks hideous with my gold rods (and recommend the company highly to design something more universal/ neutral for this). Secondly, it didn’t help much!
    3) I installed the metal pieces exactly as directed and it worked perfect…for a single pass. In the very next pass, the bot kept tangling up with the plastic / adhesive of the attachment piece so I clear-taped a bunch of times around it to tighten up the area – thankfully that somewhat worked
    4) However, every time the bots go over these areas – you can hear the struggle (which isn’t the problem) but what I’m realizing is that it’s causing the wheels to slip – throwing off the calibration
    5) Now my bots will function (i.e. make it across these joints – 1 each) – but due to the calibration being thrown off with every pass / struggle at the joints, the gap between the two curtains when fully closed keep getting bigger and bigger. It’s so bad that I can calibrate all I want but the gap in the middle (in fully closed position – between the two pieces) will separate 2-3 inches EVERY TIME the curtain is opened / closed. Not really saving me much work / automating anything if I have to use the app to manually calibrate this every day…

I don’t know if this wasn’t designed for bigger rods (such as 1″), if the company traded-off higher torque motor for an increased battery life, or just put poor thought into addressing these telescopic joints – but for such an expensive gadget – it was superrrrrr disappointing.

11/10 will return and please keep your hopes in check when ordering because results might vary greatly based off your curtain set up

Bought to remotely control my curtains to make my house look occupied when I’m away, unfortunately they are pretty unreliable, requiring frequent re-calibration. Coming home to one side of a curtain open sometimes looks pretty stupid, but then sometimes they are fine.

They are a bit of a pain to reset and recalibrate, documentation poor which made getting them working with Google Assistant could have been easier with the provision of one line of text in the mini hub documentation instead of having to refer to the web.

I purchased two of these because I have a tough time waking up since I use blackout blinds. Once integrated with Alexa and set on a routine it has made my working wake-up process MUCH better. They give you everything you need for various forms of curtains, as well as a small metal adapter to wrap around the part on the curtain rod where it extends. However at the price point of this device I do not think it is worth it. Below are a few reasons why:

    – Integration with Alexa requires a hub to be purchased separately.
    – If you choose not to get the hub, to control them without your phone you have to also buy a separate remote.
    – In both performance and quiet mode these little things are quite loud. It is not overly annoying but half the time the sound of the devices moving wakes me up before the sun.
    – The app/setup process can be a little quirky. Initial setup took about 30-45 minutes. I could never get re-calibration to work so I completely reset both devices. It took 4 separate times for the app to allow me to set up the devices again. By no means was it seamless.
    – Random times they just don’t work, whether it is by voice or routines via Alexa. Make sure to get a remote.

All in all I think they are worth the investment but not at full price. For two devices + remote + hub you’re spending about $250 for one rod with two curtains.

Very weak motors. The curtains are not that heavy and it struggles to close them. The bead stays are a pain to adjust as you can’t just use the settings out of the box. Not all windows will have the curtains have the same grommet to grommet length. Great idea. Needs a lot of work though. After another 2 weeks and adjusting the beads and trying to add silicon tape to the rod. These motors are just far too weak. Our curtains weigh under 7 pounds and once they get 3/4 of the way through the pull, they just stall, 100% charged and all. Avoid them.

The media could not be loaded.

Returned all 8 items as the are noisy even on silent mode, Divices run at different speeds so curtains open at different speeds. I had at least 5+ sec different In closing speedson the same window Left and right curtains. The calibration kept not remembering the fully closed positions so left 20cm gap between curtains. on one side. Over all a poor experience but idea is good, they just need to prefect it but on this version it is far below expectations.

I am happy with my purchase.
Contrary to popular belief, it works with my 38mm diameter telescopic road with no issue.
Version one sometimes struggles, but with this reversion, I did not even use the slop metal provided as my rods have a plastic slope integrated.

I’ve been wanting to add automatic curtains to my house for a long time and SwitchBot robots have been perfect.

Since I don’t have power sockets near any of my windows the fact this battery powered is perfect. When I first unpacked the device I was surprised that it was alot smaller than I’d expected.

Fitting it to the curtain rods was easy and it took only a few minutes to setup and configure using my phone.

The only criticism I have is, having to buy two devices for most of my windows made the project more expensive than it might initially appear. However even at the price of two devices, they still worked out cheaper for me than other solutions would have been – especially when I would have needed additional power sources fitted near each window.

The curtains worked well for 3/4 of my windows. We use the grommet curtains, and that might be why it was a bit more difficult. Definitely need to follow instructions closely and use the provided beads. This helped with 3 of the smaller width windows.

For the larger window, we ran into some trouble with the telescopic rods. It would always stop moving at the bump where rods connect. The provided tools to help with this specific issue didn’t really work well at all. I ended up getting a measuring tape, cutting it to the length of rod and applying it over the entire rod. That helped make it move pass the bump due to the smooth texture.

Despite all that effort, we still found that it would stop short of closing fully. The bot just wasn’t quite able to help pull the curtains all the way ( i think it is just a bit too underpowered). For this specific window we have 4 curtains total to fully expand to the entire width. The bot was able to get to about 70% of the way then could not pull anymore.

I think I can really only give 3 stars at most, since the whole setup was way over the advertised 30 second setup. Took actually a few days worth of work to get all that working OK. But once it’s on there, it mostly works (with exception of that wider window). Integration with google/alexa is solid.

My first impression out of the box was that the device was a lot smaller than I thought it would be and also appears a lot more studier than I had expected.
It comes with full instructions, which TBH make it actually seem harder to set up than it is!
In a nutshell, you hang it on your curtain rail between the last two curtain rings and configure the start and end position through the app.
I was impressed that it has a built in light sensor so that you can set it up on the appt to do its job automatically at dawn and dusk if you want to. Or alternatively you can purchase the accompanying hub as we did, and set it up to work with your smart assistant, or remote control it if you are away from home.
Do note that need two of these if you have two curtains meeting in the centre of your curtain rail, so we bought a second one to complete the job. After installing the second one, they work together as a matched pair.
In use the device is mainly hidden behind the curtain, but I have exposed in my picture so you can see what it looks like.
We have had some interaction with the manufacturer, and I have to say they are VERY keen on offering a great customer experience. Unusually in this day they are helpful and very friendly.
If you want to increase the automation in your home, then this product definitely does a great job.

After a little messing around with my curtain rod (they include a little adhesive “ramp” to allow it to traverse telescoping curtain rod seams) this thing works just great!

If you look at the reviews it’ll have a lot of complaints of the SwitchBot getting stuck on the curtain rod but the upgraded version has fixed that issue. If you want it to be pair with Alexa or Siri you have to buy the hub just fyi. But if you’re ok with utilizing the switchbot app for opening, closing and setting your scheduled times, then this really is perfect! $99 is a bit expensive for only one but it has been worth it!

It took several tries to calibrate the 2 smart motor installation. The included grommet clips work better than expected and keep the curtains evenly pleated.
