I wish that I had read all the reviews….I had resigned myself to the new plastic “tinker toys,’ but did not expect to find such an inferior product, and the “vintage tin” only half full. It’s going back.

The tub does not actually have “retro” Tinkertoys. The toys are completely made of plastic (not wood) and don’t fit with an original wooden set. If I saw this in the store, I would not have bought it.

The original wooden tinker toys brought lots of tears in our household because pieces were so difficult to fit together. The plastic of these new and improved tinker toys has eliminated this problem! Only thing I wish is that MORE pieces came with the container and that the container was made from a sturdier metal.

I actually bought this to assemble “gnomons” for a robot lab, and as my son is too old for this but too young for grandchildren, I just want to warn others. It’s a great big metal retro container filled with not much, as the picture shows – either find another 3 packs of pieces you can add at a good price or take a pass – I’m disappointed in K’NEX, they’ve managed to outgreedy Lego – also, while I didn’t really care if the parts were plastic or wood, their pressure fit design for using plastic means first you push hard and then everything is still loose afterwards. I’d stay away from this, the only reason I didn’t send it back is that in the big scale of things 4 gnomons for 10 bucks each I can live with. That said, I really found this particularly disgusting, hence the note.

Unless you collect “retro tins” or something….or are spending under $10 bucks. you should be disappointed. Yes, the tin says retro/classic but all the essential parts (of this $35 product at purchase) are cheap plastic.

The Box is 12 inches tall and 8 inches diameter LESS on HALF full. Made totally of plastic. Packaging is deceptive as to size and printing indicating it the “Classic”.
No I would not buy again and I do not recommend deceptive packaging.
