I purchased this fridge to go on my retro themed kitchen. I had been on the hunt for a retro fridge that was affordable. I like how the fridge and freezer have separate temperature controls, as my other fridge didnt. The spots for cans on the door are very handy for different sauces. I’ve only had the fridge a few days, but I am very pleased so far. I got cold quickly when we plugged it in and seems to be maintaining a cold temperature.

The company does try to help you get this working. With us, they were unsuccessful. Local repairmen may not know anything about a Chinese refrigerator. The company does NOT pick it up if it does not work. Beware!

The refrigerator was never frost free and then the freezer quit working properly after 3 months. If you get one of these refrigerator and have the same problems I had the buyer will refer you the the manufacturer which sucks because a 30 day return policy does not work on an item that malfunctions in 90 days on 30.

First of all it took 3 different orders (2 different places) to finally get one delivered without damage. The top is plastic and was crushed each time. I finally accepted the last one that came because it had the least damage, but still damaged. It is beautiful! We use it at our auto repair shop and customers comment on it all the time. Literally 2 months later, we came to work after the weekend and it was dead. Everything ruined. Customer service at Galanz is even worse! Still under warranty but couldn’t get call backs. Can’t find anyone that will service it either. As cool looking as it is, just don’t risk it.

I bought this fridge to replace my 15 yr old one when its compressor gave out. It’s really nice fridge. Some initial observations:
1. Handles are plastic, not chrome. However I don’t think it should be an issue as opening the door doesn’t put a lot of pressure on them. I would prefer chrome but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.
2. There’s no fan cooling the compressor on the back. My guess is it’s because this is a narrower model 28 in vs. average 30 in. My old fridge had a fan but it was 30 in wide.
3. It is very quiet.
4. The freezer has a cold and colder temp adjustment. I set mine on cold and it was enough to keep food frozen.
5. Just to be on a safe sight I didn’t plug it in for 24 hrs to allow coolant to set as I didn’t know how it was stored in the warehouse or on the delivery truck (it should be stored upright).
6. The fridge uses R600 coolant as opposed to R134 freon. It is more environmentally friendly but it is flammable (freon is not). It looks like R600 is replacing freon though the 1st night I had nightmares about the fridge exploding. I used to keep a toaster oven on top of the old one, but will not on top of this one. The flammable coolant is the reason for 4 stars.
7. The instructions asked for removing a plastic film from a drain plug, but I think it applies to self defrosting models, not the manual defrosting one like this. I couldn’t find a drain plug anywhere inside the fridge.

Purchased this retro ‘fridge for our pantry. We plan to use it for beverages to ease up room in the kitchen refrigerator.
It is very cute; love the retro look. The biggest problem was with the delivery. We received four false delivery dates. Communicating with the delivery service was difficult because they never answered their phones. When the refrigerator finally arrived, the box was in good condition. No dents or crush marks. However when we unpackaged the refrigerator today, we discovered a large dent on the right side and a smaller dent above that. Very disappointing after waiting so long and being so excited about the purchase. Will update this review after a few weeks to report on the operation of the ‘fridge. Only 3 stars this time around because of the other issues.

Follow up… Amazon passed me off to a customer service number that was asking for my credit card info. ;Ended up going on line to find the correct number to call. Galanz passed tried to set up a service call in my area and no one answered so they gave me the phone number to do it myself. I called and gave them my information and they said they would call to schedule and appt. A week later I just called them back. They said they are working on finding someone in my area. It could be today it could be next week but I was welcome to call someone myself.
What kind of companies pass the buck with no owner ship of the product they sell. Its a brand new fridge that never worked. Amazon and Galanz should be ashamed.
I bought this fridge for our game room. Unfortunately it took us longer to finish then we expected and when we plugged the fridge in, it didn’t cool. I tried the amazon tech support. After several days they passed me off to the manufacturer warranty. The number they provided was a total scam asking for credit card information. I finally got online to Galanz website. Called the number and they said they would return my call within 48 hours. Can’t return the unit and Amazon “support” isn’t of any help. Buying online has become way to risky these days. Time to go back to the old way of doing things.
